  • A Little Bit of Heaven

"For the third year in a row we have rented this lovely home. We have three children and six grandchildren (5 year olds to teens). One family lives in Scituate year round. They all enjoyed being right on the beach, making sand castles to paddle boarding. They also enjoyed walks and riding their bikes. I would highly recommend this beautiful home for a beautiful vacation."

  • Weekend Visit

"Myself and my fiancé and a few friends rented this house over the summer and it was perfect! The owners were flexible and easy to work with and the house was in perfect condition when we arrived. Having grown up in the area I knew the house was in a great location!! We will defiantly be returning!"

  • Excellent location, home just as described

"Clean, comfortable, "on" the beach and exactly as pictured. The home is relatively close to 2 supermarkets (stop&shop and Star), 2 malls, plenty of restaurants, mom and pop stores and even a fresh off the boat fish store. It is ideal for day-trips to Boston or the Cape, and close to Plymouth, which has many consignment/antique shops. The neighborhood is quiet, clean and friendly. All we heard at night were waves and crickets. The queen-size bed upstairs is very comfortable, with plenty of storage space. There is also a loft with a thin, queen size mattress. The bedroom downstairs is equipped with bunk beds only, so I'd recommend the home to families with older kids that do not need constant supervision. The tile flooring makes it quite easy to clean up spills or sand tracks. Our landlord was extremely prompt and responsive in addressing an issue with the washer and sending back our deposit. That being said, here are a few things to be aware of. The beach is rocky. Bring water shoes. During our 2 week stay algae was on the beach and in the water most of the time, but if you swim beyond the immediate 10-15 feet deep "belt" the water is clear. To get on the beach you have to pass through some boulders. If you have problems with your balance, walk to the beach at end of the street and come back around. Dogs are allowed on the beach (one of the best perks yet), but in spite of local leash laws, some residents let their dogs roam free. Take appropriate measures to prevent unwelcome canine conflicts. The upstairs kitchen is stocked with enough silverware for 4 people and dishes for 8. There are pots and frying pans but only 1 baking sheet. If you plan on baking, bring your pans or buy aluminum ones like we did. There is no light on the back deck; bring a flashlight to better negotiate the steps at night. You do not need to bring any floating devices or beach toys, there are several under the deck. Overall, considering the home's amenities, maintenance state and location, the landlord's practices and the price, this is one of the best homes we have ever rented."

  • Overall a Great Place to Stay

"Owners were very responsive: the microwave stopped functioning while we were there and one of the owners brought a new one the next day after confirming we didn't require it that night. There is a deck on the front of the house that overlooks the sound with no block in the view and a deck on the back of the house that overlooks the beach with no block in view. The staircases to both are sturdy with about 10 steps each. The front deck had the grill, which worked fine. The beach was covered in stones. They were smooth, but made flipflops of water shoes necessary. A 10-15 minute walk to where the river and ocean meet bring you to a much less rocky beach which was great for our 13 month old to play at. But with a little raking and you can make a tidy sand pit: the stones only seem to be about one layer deep before you find sand. The main level of the house is one long great room, the division of the room only made by the couches, which were dated and a worn but comfortable. There is a TV in the living room. Then there are 2 bedrooms, both with AC, with a bathroom inbetween. One room has a full sized bed with a closet full of childrens (and baby-appropriate) toys and board games and a tv. The other is 2 twins. The staircase upstairs is in the room with the twin beds. This wasn't too inconvenient for us. Upstairs is a large bathroom, 1 room with 2 twins, closet, dresser, a balcony that overlooks ocean, and 1 room with a king, large closet (fit 2 pack and plays), ac unit, dresser with tv, a balcony that overlooks the sound. All 3 rooms have skylights. The house was VERY liveable, but needs some TLC. The kitchen is quite the hodgepodge of tools, but everything we needed was there. The location was great. It was about a 45 minute drive into the city to the aquarium, 20 minutes to the grocery store, 25 minutes to a place with a target, walmart, etc. The mileage from point a to point b in the area doesn't reflect the travel time well: most of the roads are curvey and go through neighborhoods with the speed limit varying between 25 and 35 mph. We mostly spent our time at the house. We took 1 trip to the city and 1 trip to Plymoth for whale watching, which was prolific in whale sightings! There was 1 unseasonably hot day at 90 degrees, the day we arrived, but beyond that we had very little need of the ac units and enjoyed the ocean breese until our departure on June 5. 7 and a baby occupied the house very comfortably. We would be happy to return"
