  • Butterfly Cottage is a Gem!

"This past week we stayed in Saugatuck at the Butterfly Cottage. We were a party of 6 + Dog (2 teenage girls, my parents, and my husband and I). The cottage is exactly as described. The location is amazing. It is within walking distance to downtown and there really is no reason to drive, because you won't find an open spot in Saugatuck anyway. We loved that everything was so accessible. The entire town LOVES dogs and there are water dishes and dog bones at most stores. The cottage layout was big enough so that we did not feel on top of one another and the bungalow is adorable. The cottage is very cute and the color scheme is so lovely and upbeat. The kitchen has everything you need and lots of room to stock the pantry with your own things. The washer and dryer are large and it was nice to be able to do a few loads so that when you get home, the laundry is already done. Saugatuck is a great little town with very friendly walking/jogging/biking path that runs up to Holland. We toured Douglas and Holland and also checked out the beaches. We tried Oval Beach, rode bikes to Felt Mansion and checked out the Mtn bike trail, Laketown Park (the sunset there was unbelievable), and Ripley Trail (Holland). Overall we had a great time in Saugatuck. We would highly recommend Butterfly Cottage to anyone and especially families that want to take their pets along!"

  • Awesome, Fun, Quiet Getaway!

"A group of friends and I decided to take a getaway trip for a few days away, we were planning on skiing/snowboarding at Bittersweet Ski Resort one of the days and wanted a nice, cozy, secluded rental to stay in. We were looking most forward to the hot tub and view of the river. Neither disappointed! Unfortunately, the snow accumulation was not enough to ski, so we went into downtown Saugatuck and strolled around the cute shops, had lunch at Wally's (which I would recommend for a quick drink and good burger), the locals were so nice! We then decided to just stay in the rental, set up a fire, played the multitude of games that were provided, and enjoyed a nice sit in the hot tub. This house has everything you need! It was warm and inviting, very clean, private, quiet and serene. Only thing is the height of the ceilings (many of my friends are 6'2" or taller, so some ducking was occurring), but that is just in a minor hallway of the house; the wireless connection is limited but that was expected due to the location. Roxanne was very accommodating and helpful prior to the stay, and we will most DEFINITELY be booking another stay at the Harmony River House any season of the year!"

  • Jewel in the Crown of Saugatuck

"My husband and I needed to get away from Chicago for a week vacation before fall set in. We fell in love with this place. The wrap-around front porch with colorful Adirondack-style rocking chairs (great for morning coffee with the birds and squirrels), the screened porch, which doubled as an outdoor living room, the parlor and living area, the tastefully appointed and decorated kitchen, the simple, charming bedrooms, decorated with handmade quilts, the fact that there was a laundry in the basement which we could use after a day at the beach -- all made us happy, content and peaceful. But the beauty and history of this house with the great selection of books about Oxbow Summer School of Art and Saugatuck history, and the wonderful framed photos and maps of Saugatuck, Oxbow and Douglas made the house feel drenched in memory and love. Beautiful paintings of Saugatuck land and beach-scapes are hung throughout the house, along with tapestries of Oxbow and Saugatuck buildings. Adding to the sense of history and place are old weathered signs hung thoughtfully throughout the ground area as well, one sign which states "Oval Beach", in another spot, inscribed above a doorway are the words on a plaque “Bunky’s Room.” The lawn around the building, the grape arbor in the backyard, the stately trees which surround the house, the library, the antique oriental rugs, the sense of family all conspire to bring beauty, charm, memories and love alive. And if all that beauty and charm is not enough, you are minutes walking distance from everything in town. A perfect get away, and a jewel of a place! We plan to return!"

  • Incredible!

"My husband and I rented this for my 60th birthday celebration. Nine friends accompanied us. The home was a perfect location for my gathering. It was spacious and offered so much privacy. In fact, it is almost too lovely to rent to tourists! We have been staying at vacation condos/homes for many years and this was, by far, the nicest place we have ever rented. The home is nicely furnished with beautiful decorations. All of my guests applauded the comfort of the mattresses (I am very picky about mattresses!). The kitchen area was the main gathering for our guests along with the 10 additional people who joined us for cocktails Saturday night. All were amazed with the home, and those not staying with us insisted on a complete tour. They were stunned by its beauty. When we weren't in the kitchen area, we were in the adjoining family room watching football (it was a very rainy day). The sectional in that room was beyond belief; so supple and relaxing. On that late October Friday afternoon, a few of us gathered on the pretty screened-in sun porch to have cocktails and enjoy the afternoon sun. The home is located just two blocks from shopping in a quiet pretty neighborhood. The kitchen is completely stocked with every kind of gadget you could possibly need. I couldn't have chosen a better location for my 60th birthday and feel lucky to have stayed in this home. We are already planning a girl's escape for summer 2016."
