  • Great stay will return again! Perfect girls get away!

"The cabin was comfortable and modern. It was well equipped with everything you need including books and movies. The lake was right outside the back screened porch with a semi private dock. The water was nice and cool lounging on the dock was relaxing close to town we had an amazing time!!!"

  • Perfect House & Location

"Our family of 4 kids and 2 adults and dog thoroughly enjoyed our week at Butternut Pines! The house itself and everything in it was very comfortable and high quality. Mattresses (very important!) and linens outstanding. Beautiful view of forest from literally every window in the house. Love the open main floor. Even when working in the (very nice) kitchen, you could enjoy the view. Saw deer several times in woods off back patio. Great outdoor shower for getting sand off. Hot tub very nice. Loved how you can open up the main floor to the screened porch to make it one big space....very cool! We loved that when you were at the house you felt secluded and serene surrounded by the beautiful pines but you could quickly walk around the corner to a fabulous Lakeshore drive for a scenic walk or down 50 stairs to a beautiful beach for swimming/walking. We enjoyed many sunsets there. Just down the road by car is a small but nice beach (5 min. drive) with 10 parking spots. 2 minutes farther and you get a fabulous county park with a great beach. Free ample parking there, 2 bathroom facilities, nice playground, lots of green space, and a very nice stairway and full ramp for beach access. We also drove 20 minutes away to Holland for a fun bike ride and then play at Tunnel Park beach which is an all-sand beach with a long shallow (thus warmer) lake floor before the it drops deeper...perfect for kids. Saugatuck is a great in-town excursion. Go shopping and then order a fried chicken bucket dinner from the Southerner to take home for the beach/sunset. Loved the cinnamon/sticky rolls at Pumpernickels. And always a visit to Cranes for pie. We've stayed at 3 different houses in the area over the years and I always do a ton of research, but next time Butternut Pines will be my first choice before going anywhere else. This house was very well thought out for a great vacation experience when it was built and has been maintained well. When I had to contact the owner with a question, he was very kind and helpful and made himself available if any other questions came up. I would love to come in the other seasons; I imagine fall or winter views from the house would be amazing. Thanks Butternut Pines for a truly wonderful vacation!"

  • family fun vacation

"We had 15 people fit comfortably in this beautifully situated property. Location was lovely with sunsets every night just two blocks away. For those who like stairs, you can walk down the 96 of them to the beach front and enjoy lake Michigan at your feet. This private beach was ideal for us who'd rather not go to Oval Beach with the entire town. The front screened-in porch was lovely for morning coffee. The side yard perfect for baggo games and fire pit for an evening marshmallow roast, guitar playing and sing a longs. We barely used the hot tub because the weather was hot and chemicals didn't seem like they were working adequately. When we realized we didn't have enough towels for everyone we contacted the owner who quickly remedied the situation. The kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans/cups etc. but on the small side for those who like to cook. The teenagers really appreciated getting away to the basement to play on the Wii, ping pong and pool table. Lots of fun down there! We have some small suggestions that we think would help the house be even more fabulous than it already is... If the refrigerator was plugged in the basement, we would have used it for sure. Instead we had coolers upstairs for additional beverages that couldn't fit in the kitchen refrigerator that doesn't have an ice maker (so plan accordingly). We suggest rubber bath mats for inside the shower for those older folks who are prone to slipping and maybe a hand rail in the shower for them too. Us ladies would have appreciated some hangers in the very large closets (really nice) to hang our clothes. And one last nit picky suggestion is deep fitted sheets so they don't untuck while sleeping. These are all minor suggestions, as the owners have really thought of everything here. The only other downside to this property (or maybe upside for some) is the poor cell phone coverage. This is no fault of the owner, just a Saugatuck location issue. The house has a landline as a back up which came in handy a few times. We really loved everything about this impeccably maintained home, whose owners are there whenever you need something. Thanks for the lovely accommodations :)"
