  • Very nice condo

"My husband and I stayed at Kathleen's condo 2 weeks ago. It was convenient, clean and just a real nice place to stay. It is right across the street from the water and walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants. We had neighbors that, unless you saw them you wouldn't even know they were there. Everyone was very friendly. I saw in the prior reviews that some wanted a bigger TV....its there! I am highly recommending this place."

  • Butterfly Cottage is a Gem!

"This past week we stayed in Saugatuck at the Butterfly Cottage. We were a party of 6 + Dog (2 teenage girls, my parents, and my husband and I). The cottage is exactly as described. The location is amazing. It is within walking distance to downtown and there really is no reason to drive, because you won't find an open spot in Saugatuck anyway. We loved that everything was so accessible. The entire town LOVES dogs and there are water dishes and dog bones at most stores. The cottage layout was big enough so that we did not feel on top of one another and the bungalow is adorable. The cottage is very cute and the color scheme is so lovely and upbeat. The kitchen has everything you need and lots of room to stock the pantry with your own things. The washer and dryer are large and it was nice to be able to do a few loads so that when you get home, the laundry is already done. Saugatuck is a great little town with very friendly walking/jogging/biking path that runs up to Holland. We toured Douglas and Holland and also checked out the beaches. We tried Oval Beach, rode bikes to Felt Mansion and checked out the Mtn bike trail, Laketown Park (the sunset there was unbelievable), and Ripley Trail (Holland). Overall we had a great time in Saugatuck. We would highly recommend Butterfly Cottage to anyone and especially families that want to take their pets along!"

  • Wonderful extended family getaway

"Had a relaxing extended family vacation with grandparents, two adult children, spouses, and three grandchildren (2 1/2, 3 1/2, and 6) for the week. Couldn't have asked for better weather and beach days. Cabin worked out very well for everyone with enough space for sleeping, eating, and relaxing. Perfect location with easy access to Goshorn Lake for fishing, dune buggy rides, bike trail for easy ride into Saugatuck, bike rides to get ice cream, and short drive to Oval Beach. Fun to wander in downtown Saugatuck shops. Ate at Mermaid on the river for lunch. Wonderful dinners at Marro's Italian Restaurant and Saugatuck Brewing Co. Took a ride on the chain ferry across the river. Great family gathering spot. Property was clean and well maintained. Appreciated the bikes provided. Bonus of air hockey and ping pong in the basement!!"

  • Large, beautifully maintained, fully supplied home perfect for large groups

"Our family group of 14/15 people, including six children ages 1 to 11 stayed for a week in mid-August and found a very welcoming environment for a family retreat. There is room for everyone to be together and to separate into the various rooms if they wish. It is a quality-built house on a large and beautiful propery and nicely furnished. There is a huge outdoor dining table and chairs. The pool chairs are a nice quality and the property is fully stocked with outdoor games, plenty of pool equipment, a cook's kitchen, endless towels and pretty much anything else that comes to mind. We bought some wood and enjoyed s'mores sitting around the outdoor fire pit, and the huge barbecue was more than adequate for our group. The pool is large and well-maintained, as is the hot tub. I am glad we opted for the warmer pool temperature: no one ever felt chilled. Jayne, the house manager, greeted us on our arrival and came to clean the pool again during our stay. She was very pleasant and immediately responsive when the propane tanks became empty. We went peach and berry picking a short distance away and gorged on the best store-bought pies we ever had from Cranes down the road. There was a dune buggy ride, a Critter Barn in Zeeland, free concerts in the parks, plus many other activities in addition to the beaches at Saugatuck and South Haven. The house and the area were excellent choices for us. The bathrooms were all in excellent condition and pretty. There isn't one in the basement and the one off the kitchen is small so the master with the jacuzzi and walk-in shower was in great demand. It didn't matter at all. The one negative would be the air circulation when the air conditioner is on. The basement has no vents and is frigid, although we managed to play ping pong often and the children ran around a lot down there. There were blankets enough so that everyone was warm for sleeping. The second floor, with 8 people couldn't be properly cooled. I closed all first floor vents, covered them to force the air upstairs and kept a large fan at the top of the stairs to bring up the cool air. There are also ceiling and portable fans. To keep the second floor cool enough for sleeping, the main floor had to be set at 69 degrees at all times. I couldn't not mention this but don't want it to be over-emphasized because this really is a lovely property and I would would not hesitate to use it again and to recommend it to our friends. A wonderful choice!"
