  • Down by the Bay - week of relaxation

"My boyfriend's family and I (6 adults, 1 baby) stayed in the bottom apartment for a week in June. The weather was wonderful, the bay was warm and beautiful, and the apartment was fantastic! There is a spacious master bedroom with its own bathroom (plus - two sinks, large shower!) and a king size bed (very comfortable - bring your own sheets and blanket). Then there are 3 rooms on the other side of the kitchen (the separation was nice), 2 having a queen size bed and 1 having a queen and a twin along with another bathroom with a tub. The kitchen had every utensil, dish, misc item (including a junk drawer) that you needed and the dishwasher made clean up so much easier. There was also a washer/dryer in the wet bar area which was perfect for towels and bathing suits after days hanging by the bay or beach. The apartment also has a little bit of a larger balcony (waist high enclosed with glass) than the upstairs apartment that has a table/chairs and a grill. We spent a lot of time out there with a beautiful breeze (no bugs when it's breezy but bring some spray for still nights) and a wonderful view of the bay and all of its activity. Beach badges for Ship Bottom were provided (8) and the drive over the bridge was quick and easy! You can drive the other way for access to a WalMart for any grocery needs, also. If bringing a mobile baby, I would suggest bringing a baby gate as the stairs just lead directly into the apartment. The views from the living area on the opposite side of the living room are beautiful with green marshland and more water activity (also a pair of binoculars!). We didn't get around to it but there are a few local areas that offer kayak and jetski rentals and there is a dock that the owner rents out for this use. We would definitely stay here again, what a great week!"

  • Excellent.

"Great time. Very restful. Thought of it as our "cave" where my daughter and I could relax and unwind. Loved the modern treatments alongside the shore decore. I wanted to take the kitchen home with me! Close to the beach. Great breezes. More than I expected. Jan and Alisa Colliton"

  • Fabulous place to spend a week!

"My family, including four children, two daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren spent an awesome week at Hanover House. Its location is perfect - right on the beach and very near a lifeguard. The 15 included beach passes were plenty for all of us. The huge kitchen, dining area, living room, and two decks were plenty of room for all 11 of us to spread out. We swam, flew kites, did jigsaw puzzles, played games, and took short trips all over the island. Our 11-year old was thrilled that it was just a short block's walk to the bakery and ice-cream store, and our 7-year-old was delighted that the arcade an mini-golf were also just a short walk away. The house is in an extremely quiet neighborhood with plenty of on-site parking. The house is decorated in a lovely casual beach theme. The kitchens are both well equipped, and the property manager met us to give us an orientation and answer all of our questions. Can't wait to return!"

  • 28th Street cottage

"My wife and I have been renting this cottage every year for many years. One of the reasons we keep returning is because we think it is the ideal summer cottage. While the outside may look dated (compared to today's "McMansions"), inside it has been totally renovated with bright shore-appropriate colors and furniture. Now that it has been raised, it offers a front deck on which to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening or to savor your morning coffee. While there is air-conditioning, being elevated allows you to open the windows and better enjoy the wonderful sea breezes. It is bright and open inside, and roomier than it may appear from the outside. The kitchen has marble counter-tops and the latest appliances, along with every utensil one would want to prepare home-cooked meals during your stay (as we do.) The first floor has a living room adjoining the kitchen, ample seating, a large TV, a full bathroom with a washer and dryer, and a master bedroom with a comfortable queen-size bed. Upstairs are two bedrooms, each with two twin beds, a sitting room with an additional TV, and a half bath -- ideal if you have children or drop-in guests. And with the newly remodeled Acme supermarket just two miles down the boulevard, it is no longer necessary to travel all the way over to the mainland for your grocery needs. Needless to say, we plan to return yearly for as many years as the good Lord lets us."
