  • Great location, very clean!

"We loved our week! Very beautiful setting. A doe and her 2 fawns grazed on the back slope while we enjoyed after dinner drinks on the covered deck. The new Weber grill worked great! The house was very clean and made our stay fun and easy. Thank you! Gary"

  • Wonderful and Relaxing

"Mary and Mark are wonderful hosts! We spent the new year's weekend at the cabin and it is beautiful. The lights were on and welcoming and the cabin had the fire going for our arrival. The cabin is very charming and cozy. The last morning of our stay after speaking with Mary and Mark we discovered that the artwork in the cabin is created by them and their art studio is in the barn. It did snow quite a bit the last evening that made our trek out quite interesting but Mary and Mark were helpful and we did make it to the highway :) Rapid City is close enough to be convenient but far enough away that you get the full experience of the Black Hills. If you enjoy Deadwood, it is a nice drive as well and a fun place to be for New Year's eve. If you are tied to your technology you may struggle a bit here. We have Verizon and cell service was nonexistent. Bring DVDs as you will not be able to stream videos and there are only 2 TV channels. But what a way to bond! Watch DVDs with your loved ones and play games! If you are there in the winter, bring warm clothes and go explore. I am sure it would be a completely different experience in the warmer months but the winter months seem to be very nice."

  • Family Ski Trip

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Nice layout in this cabin. We put little kids downstairs, teenagers upstairs and adults on the main floor and that worked quite well. Hot tub was clean (wish it would have been heated up on arrival, couldn't use first night.) Decent assortment of kitchen dishware as we cooked all our meals there."

  • 2016 Pre-Sturgis Vacation

"We stayed at the Dragon Lair cabin for the 8-days prior to the 2016 Sturgis Rally. The cabin is nearly new and centrally located to all the local Black Hills attractions. The cabin is clean, well maintained, and equipped as described on this website. We were very comfortable and relaxed through our stay at the cabin. The deck covers two sides of the cabin with three sliding doors for excess. The roof extends out to cover a portion of the deck and is perfect for outdoor dining. While relaxing on the deck we were able to view deer and turkeys work their way through the area. Our time was spent touring the Black Hills on our motorcycles. We used the cabin for our home base. The lower level of the cabin is a huge garage and we were able to use half of it, which definitely was an amenity we would not have at a hotel. We enjoyed ourselves and were not ready to leave at the end of our 7-day stay. We called David to inquire about renting an extra day and he agreed. We still haven’t had enough and plan to go back next year."
