  • Beautiful home in the Black Hills

"We had a wonderful family reunion in this luxurious and comfortable home. We were able to prepare all of our meals in the well-equipped kitchen and had plenty of room to relax and visit. The outside grill was great. We enjoyed watching the full moon rise over Spearfish Canyon. We enjoyed the outstanding view from the deck. We saw deer around the house in the evenings and early mornings."

  • Wonderful lodging and great people

"We stayed at this cabin for over two weeks, and completely enjoyed the location, the people and especially the owners. Everybody in the office was extremely helpful, answered all our questions and were able to get us in a week early when other plans fell through. We were able to visit all the sights, enjoy the "Mangy Moose" and felt like we were home. If life allows us, we will be back next year."

  • What a wonderful place and location, location, location says it all.

"If I could post a picture of the first day here it sums it all up. It had just rained and there was a rainbow behind the house from the rear deck. Beautiful picture. We had 11 adults, 10 children and they had a blast. There was plenty of room for everyone, to the effect when the kids were downstairs you could not hear them playing. It is the most comfortable place I have stayed in using VRBO. We were there for a family reunion and had the event at this residence. There was 75 people who came over and not one of them complained about not having enough room or it was too loud. The deck is spacious and expansive. The outdoor grounds are well manicured and the kids had a blast playing the large grass lot. The walks at night with the 30 or something deer out and about was very relaxing, its about a 1.5 mile walk we took every night around the neighborhood. No road noise, no noise at all. Windows were open at night and the cool air filled the house. The never ending tank less water heater insured everyone had a hot shower, no matter what time of day or how many had just taken a shower. 4 miles to Sturgis, 4 miles to Deadwood, 1 hour drive to Mt. Rushmore and 1.5 hours to Custer state park and surrounding adventures the Black Hills has to offer. I would definitely stay here again and so would the family. I'd give it 6 stars if I could."

  • Wonderful and Relaxing

"Mary and Mark are wonderful hosts! We spent the new year's weekend at the cabin and it is beautiful. The lights were on and welcoming and the cabin had the fire going for our arrival. The cabin is very charming and cozy. The last morning of our stay after speaking with Mary and Mark we discovered that the artwork in the cabin is created by them and their art studio is in the barn. It did snow quite a bit the last evening that made our trek out quite interesting but Mary and Mark were helpful and we did make it to the highway :) Rapid City is close enough to be convenient but far enough away that you get the full experience of the Black Hills. If you enjoy Deadwood, it is a nice drive as well and a fun place to be for New Year's eve. If you are tied to your technology you may struggle a bit here. We have Verizon and cell service was nonexistent. Bring DVDs as you will not be able to stream videos and there are only 2 TV channels. But what a way to bond! Watch DVDs with your loved ones and play games! If you are there in the winter, bring warm clothes and go explore. I am sure it would be a completely different experience in the warmer months but the winter months seem to be very nice."
