  • Nice place, functional, affordable, and in the mountains

"We enjoyed our week stay at the Pine Cone Cabin. We had 3 generations staying together, accommodating 80 year old grandparents, and 8 year old twins. We have relatives in the Sturgis area so it was easy to visit them and also do the tourist stuff near Custer State Park. The week we visited was very hot, Rapid City was 95 degrees, but we stayed cool in the 6500 ft. elevation. My only complaints are running out of toilet paper on the last day (uncool), a very slow coffee pot, and some traffic noise from the road in front of the cabin. It's private enough, but it is not secluded, its in a resort neighborhood. It was not excessive or annoying but just know that cars and ATV do travel on the road. Overall it is a very nice place, functional and affordable, and located high in the mountains. We enjoyed our time."

  • Great Stay!

"We loved this place! Tons of room for everyone to spread out and great gathering spaces as well. We especially loved hanging out on the spacious deck. The cabin worked well for our family of 6. We will definitely stay here again."

  • Perfect place to stay in the Black Hills

"This property was exactly as described in a such a beautiful area about 10 minutes from Lead. It was very clean and had everything we needed. A couple of the days were rainy and chilly and it was so nice to relax by the fireplaces, do a puzzle, read, and nap. The other days we saw Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, Needles Highway, Spearfish Canyon, and of course, Deadwood! I would definitely recommend breakfast at Legends restaurant at the Franklin Hotel! It was great to come back to our "home" after seeing and doing so much! There were 5 of us and we had plenty of room. Our daughter loved the loft area and took it over as her own. It was so nice to enjoy a glass of wine on the deck on the warmer days and evenings. Our host, Pam, was very accessible during our stay (when we had a couple of questions). It took a while to receive a response while booking and when trying to receive instructions to access the property when the trip got closer. I had the best luck giving her call rather than emailing. She was always very pleasant and helpful when I did visit with her. We appreciate the opportunity to stay at this Chalet and would love to come back again!"

  • Loved it!

"It is a beautiful property and cabin. Very unique. It was as described, clean and maintained. The owner was very responsive and easy to work with. It was central to most of the Black Hills activities. I would recommend it and would love to come back for another stay!"
