  • Nice home but needs better cleaning.

"I really wanted to give this home five stars, but couldn't. Below are my reasons: 1. It would be a five star home if it were given a good cleaning. After traveling 1,500 miles I had to spend one hour cleaning. I might not have minded had I not paid $95.00 to have it cleaned. The faucets needed wiping down. The toilet hinges were dirty. The refrigerator was dirty and had to be wiped out. The freezer is still dirty. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed and had spots all over it. The deck chairs had to be scrubbed down and the silverware was sitting in a dirty silverware tray. 2. The hot tub is in an enclosure that felt like a shed which was also not very clean. 3. The road to get to the home was in dire need of re-grading. (I realize this is out of the owner's hands.) On the plus side the home is nice looking and adds to the cabin feel of being in the mountains and the bedding did appear to be washed which is actually the most important thing, thus the four stars instead of three."

  • Perfect place to stay in the Black Hills

"This property was exactly as described in a such a beautiful area about 10 minutes from Lead. It was very clean and had everything we needed. A couple of the days were rainy and chilly and it was so nice to relax by the fireplaces, do a puzzle, read, and nap. The other days we saw Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, Needles Highway, Spearfish Canyon, and of course, Deadwood! I would definitely recommend breakfast at Legends restaurant at the Franklin Hotel! It was great to come back to our "home" after seeing and doing so much! There were 5 of us and we had plenty of room. Our daughter loved the loft area and took it over as her own. It was so nice to enjoy a glass of wine on the deck on the warmer days and evenings. Our host, Pam, was very accessible during our stay (when we had a couple of questions). It took a while to receive a response while booking and when trying to receive instructions to access the property when the trip got closer. I had the best luck giving her call rather than emailing. She was always very pleasant and helpful when I did visit with her. We appreciate the opportunity to stay at this Chalet and would love to come back again!"
