  • The Ideal Guest House with The Most Gracious Hostess!!

"If I could rate this guest house with more than 5 stars, then I certainly would do so!! My friends and I reserved the guest house from September 7, 2016 to September 12, 2016, and we have absolutely no complaints. You will immediately know this property is special when you arrive and see the myriad of plants surrounding the house. I was so impressed with the landscape that I toured the entire yard before I walked into the house. Then, the interior of the house amazed all of us! This property has all of the conveniences of home, and it is within walking distance of restaurants. We ate breakfast each morning within the screened back porch, and we also enjoyed tea or an adult beverage on the screened porch at night. The only time my friends and I used our car was when we commuted to our event in Bristol. My friends and I are health conscious but we enjoy a good beer. I brought my bike, and I biked the Virginia Creeper Trail which is located around the corner from the guest house. A bike shop is located next door to the guest house which was convenient because I discovered a slow leak in my rear tire. The shop replaced my inner tube within 10 minutes. We had a delicious meal at the Peppermil located on Main Street, and my friends sampled the beer at Wolf Hills Brewery which is located down the street from the guest house. There is a natural foods market across the street from guest house where I purchased organic tea. This market has a little bit of everything (e.g., apothecary, free range meat, bakery, etc.). Lastly but definitely not least, the owner (Ms. Janet) is absolutely wonderful!! She responded immediately to my initial inquiry about making reservations. She is definitely Abingdon’s best advocate because she had me eager to visit Abingdon months before I arrived. I highly recommend this property, and I will definitely return!!"

  • Not West Virginia...but, almost Heaven!

"I'm so happy I stumbled upon "Riversong" on VRBO when planning our trip to Abingdon, Virginia. From my first contact with the homeowner to our arrival date; I never waited more than 15 minutes for a response. Riversong is a sweet little farmhouse; very comfortable, well appointed and fully equipped for our family. The farm and grounds were great fun for all of us to roam. We really enjoyed the goats and the game room was an added bonus. I truly suppose my favorite thing about the farm was sitting out around the fire pit, listening to the river flowing and counting the magnificent stars above. Already planning our next trip to the area....would not think of staying any place else."

  • Relaxing, beautiful cottage with lovely garden

"My two daughters (11 and 13) stayed at Meadow Cottage for a week and had a wonderful time. The cottage is charming and so peaceful (I slept better than I have for years), and the garden/yard is beautiful. There are several areas to sit and read a book outside, have morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening - the porches on the front and back of the house as well as a fire pit and a table and chairs in the garden. Jim and Jennifer are the kindest people and we loved getting to know them - the pastries and coffee/tea/juices left for our arrival made us feel instantly welcome. We stayed during the Abingdon Arts festival and spent a couple of days wandering around there, we also (upon Jennifer's suggestion) biked the 18 mile Virginia Creeper trail which was so much fun! It's the easiest bike ride we have ever been on - a shuttle drives you to the top of the mountain and the entire ride is downhill with multiple places to stop and climb rocks or put your feet in the water. We also kayaked which the girls loved and the biggest hit was seeing Mamma Mia at the Barter theater. We plan on returning - Abingdon is a lovely little town and we will absolutely stay at one of Jennifer and Jim's properties again. They become like friends!"

  • The Cabin in the Blue Ridge provided us a great escape

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cabin in the Blue Ridge. We particularly enjoyed the fact that the Cabin was by itself on a large property and that our families could play, ride bikes, and explore the area without worry of anyone else being around. The amenities were great and allowed us to cook, play games, and socialize together as friends. There are many great things to do in the area. We rode the Virginia Creeper Trail, hiked to Cascade Falls, and spent some time at Hungry Mother State Park during our visit. There were plenty of beds for our group and the layout was clearly articulated and matched the actual layout. The listing description was accurate and the property was clean and well maintained. I have and will continue to recommend the Cabin in the Blue Ridge friends, relatives, and acquaintances who are visiting the area and would like a comfortable escape. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we look forward to visiting the Cabin again sometime!"
