  • Wonderful getaway!

"We had the most enjoyable weekend on the river! Your cabin was a perfect place to introduce fly fishing to our young kids!"

  • The 4 Knitting ladies

"We had such a wonderful time! This was the first time the 4 of us have vacationed together without our husbands. The Crooked Cabin was PERFECT! Women can be difficult and we were all a bit concerned but the Cabin was perfectly appointed, very comfortable, right within walking distance of practically everything, and enough room to give us the space we needed. It's interesting "Crooked" features added laughs and conversation. Our Host and Hostess went WAY beyond what was necessary to make our stay perfect, even to bringing us a plate of cookies when WE couldn't figure how to cut the TV on! (It worked perfectly-our bad). We are already planning another trip. The 6 1/2 hr drive was well worth it, and beat stay in the hotel."

  • Tranquil

"Overall experience and impression was good. The kitchen had everything you would need. Very quiet. Very clean. There was no TV, Internet, Landline or Cell Phone service. We were aware of this when we booked the house. It was not a problem until the race at Bristol Speedway was delayed because of rain then we had trouble finding out what was going on. We had great directions to get to the speedway from the owners. There were steps into several of the downstairs rooms including the main bathroom. This could be a problem for some people. We left a light on at night. The garage had been made into a game room and gathering spot. Very nice. The main bathroom was spacious and nice. Great towels and plenty of them. The toilet in the half bathroom was almost impossible for an adult to use. It has to be seen to be believed. It gave us all a good laugh. We enjoyed the goats. There was literature left for renters showing what there was to do in the area. We came for the race but wished we could have stayed longer to explore. We rent a house every time we come to Bristol for the races. This was one of the nicest. This site was easy to use to rent a house and the owners were nice to deal with. In fact this was the first time renting that we actually talked to the owners of the property involved. Thru other agencies everything was done thru a third party. We never had contact with the owners. We enjoyed our stay."

  • The Ideal Guest House with The Most Gracious Hostess!!

"If I could rate this guest house with more than 5 stars, then I certainly would do so!! My friends and I reserved the guest house from September 7, 2016 to September 12, 2016, and we have absolutely no complaints. You will immediately know this property is special when you arrive and see the myriad of plants surrounding the house. I was so impressed with the landscape that I toured the entire yard before I walked into the house. Then, the interior of the house amazed all of us! This property has all of the conveniences of home, and it is within walking distance of restaurants. We ate breakfast each morning within the screened back porch, and we also enjoyed tea or an adult beverage on the screened porch at night. The only time my friends and I used our car was when we commuted to our event in Bristol. My friends and I are health conscious but we enjoy a good beer. I brought my bike, and I biked the Virginia Creeper Trail which is located around the corner from the guest house. A bike shop is located next door to the guest house which was convenient because I discovered a slow leak in my rear tire. The shop replaced my inner tube within 10 minutes. We had a delicious meal at the Peppermil located on Main Street, and my friends sampled the beer at Wolf Hills Brewery which is located down the street from the guest house. There is a natural foods market across the street from guest house where I purchased organic tea. This market has a little bit of everything (e.g., apothecary, free range meat, bakery, etc.). Lastly but definitely not least, the owner (Ms. Janet) is absolutely wonderful!! She responded immediately to my initial inquiry about making reservations. She is definitely Abingdon’s best advocate because she had me eager to visit Abingdon months before I arrived. I highly recommend this property, and I will definitely return!!"
