  • Our Annual Fall Gathering

"Three couples who are longtime friends made a trip to the lovely waterfront house on the North River. Unfortunately, our fourth couple was unable to make it this year at the last minute. The accommodations were just perfect for our group. The things to see in the area are so numerous that we will have to do this again to see more. So, the house had a fabulous kitchen which was so well stocked and easy to work in. We actually did quite a bit of cooking there. The beds were so nice and comfy and each couple had plenty of space and great views of the river. A very peaceful area and a nice time of the year to be in that area. We did the Williamsburg visit, the Jamestown visit, and a boat tour of the Hampton Roads Harbor, which was almost my favorite thing to do. We were leaving just as Matthew the hurricane was heading up the coast but fortunately it did not get that far and I doubt that the property was affected at all. We would definitely return to this great, beautifully decorated home."

  • Great weekend stay!

"My boyfriend and I bought a boat in June 2016 and are new to boating. Being that we don't live close to the Chesapeake Bay (our favorite fishing waterway) and have to tow our boat over an hour, we are always on the look out for a marina that offers on-site lodging. This was the perfect place! The two of us and my boyfriends son stayed for the weekend. The cabin was clean, nicely decorated and just steps away from the marina. We were able to easily launch our boat at the boat ramp and put it in our assigned covered slip. The next morning as soon as the sun came up, we were on the water and in The Bay in minutes! The marina is just minutes by car to local stores and eateries too.The cabins kitchen is nicely equipped and had what we needed to cook our catch (including crabs we caught in our pots we put in the water at the marina). It was very peaceful and has beautiful views at sunrise as well as sunset. Captain Billy answered all of our fishing questions and Mary was very accommodating. We totally enjoyed our stay and will be back!"

  • Extremely Relaxaing environment!!

"This was our first time staying at the Blue Heron House, but it won't be our last. My husband was looking for a relaxing getaway for his 42nd birthday and the location didn't disappoint. We've stayed at other properties on VRBO in the past and this home is definitely in our top 3. The house is decorated beautifully with beach motif all through out, no detail was spared. The views were beautiful!! We took 3 other couples along with us and the house accommodated us all comfortably. It was nice to have 3 cooked meals a day around the table, hang out by the pool, sit out on the deck to read and tan. This home is just what we needed to shut our minds down from work for a few days. The towels and linens were of great quality. Susan, the owner was very pleasant, laid back and responsive to our questions, and she made the check in and check out process really easy, which I appreciated as I only had about 3 weeks to pull together the celebratory weekend. All of our friends were impressed, and was so glad that it was only an hour drive away and that we didn't have to catch a flight back after such a relaxing weekend. They all want us to make this a yearly trip. I must mention we also rented the boat for a day- Well worth it!! The view of all the homes along the bay were astonishing, and then to come back and have crabs lined up in the crab pots to cook, was just icing on the cake!! In case you can't tell, we had a great time, in only 3 days!! Highly recommend to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life!!"

  • Best Vacation Ever!

"Our family of 12 had a wonderful time at Grand View! We enjoyed the spacious house and room to spread out for all--loved the 2 living room areas with flat screen TVs and the FABULOUS master suites on the first floor both with big flat screen TVs. The kitchen was very spacious with a great view of the water and dock. We hung out on the big back porch in late into the evenings and played corn hole on the back lawn overlooking the water. The kids (ages 11-21) loved loved the pool and spent day and night there--lots of pool toys already there. We had older teens who enjoyed the tennis court too! We docked our boat and the guys went fishing out in the Bay everyday and everyone fished and crabbed from the pier too. We had a fish fry one night with all the fish and crabs! The grounds were beautifully maintained! The caretaker was wonderful and even brought us fresh eggs.We went to nearby Gloucester and Mathews for our shopping needs and checked out some of the small shops downtown and had dinner at Willoughby's on the Rappahannock River in White Stone one night ---outstanding seafood and service! This was a peaceful quiet vacation and the kids never wanted to leave the property! I Highly Recommend Grand View to all who want to enjoy spending time with family and friends! Thank You Cathy Leitz (owner) for everything you did to make our vacation the BEST EVER!!! We are already making plans to return next year!"
