  • Magical sunsets and endless entertainment!

"We spent a week on Orcas at the timber lodge with our wedding in the middle at the red rabbit farm which is another magical place on orcas. We had a small family wedding and had our family with us the entire week. We rented another great house up the hill from the timber lodge. The timber lodge was perfect. It's so close to Moran, and centrally located making it close to eastbound, doe bay, and not too far from westbound or deer harbor. If you run out of things to do at and around this house there is something wrong with you. There are endless things to do and one of our favorites was to hang out on the giant deck that faces west and watch the most spectacular sunsets I have ever seen for nearly 3 hours at this time of year. Richard and Lisa are fantastic. They are very helpful and kind people. Thanks for everything and we will be back. Travis"

  • Lovely for a family getaway

"We had a terrific time for our week away - the house was immaculate, the location was ideal- it's about 15 minutes away from Eastsound and about 20-25 minutes to Moran State Park. We went hiking every day on the island and often went to Cascade lake for swimming afterward. Our family of two adults, 2 kids ages 7 and 10 and my mother (an active senior in her late 70's) had a fantastic time. We ate in almost every night, the kitchen is great to cook in and the grill works beautifully too. We used the hot tub every night - the view is to die for!!! I got up most mornings to see the sunrise. I felt like I was in a special tree house watching the birds, the deer and looking for sea life. The neighborhood is very quiet with only a few houses nearby. I agree that the terrain would not lend itself well to bicycle riding or running directly from or to the house given the steepness. I also would caution this for people with very small children if the parents were staying in the master which is one flight up - though the other bedroom is ideally located across from the bunkbed room. My daughters loved the bunkbeds! I strongly recommend this house for the comfort, the view and the location!"

  • We can't wait to return next year!!

"First time every renting a cabin...anywhere. So happy we did! Susan was so quick to respond and answer my questions, and she kept in touch during the time of our reservation to the actual trip. My 10 and 9 yr old girls loved the downstairs bedroom suite because it was "their space". My husband loved the pellet stove...kept us very warm and toasty during wet days. My favorite place was the deck (when weather was warm) and the recliner because it faced the deck. I appreciated all the instructions posted around the home....I didn't want to ruin the house or the next visitors. The kitchen was spacious and I had no issues w/cooking all our meals. The only cons I had were: the stairs are steep so you have to be able bodied to bring your luggage up; the kitchen knives weren't sharp enough (and I missed my knives), and that driveway was steep. That being said, everything else about the house was considered a pro. We were seriously very comfortable and happy. And the location was so perfect...spent a lot of time at Moran State Park. A week stay at Dancing Deer and we only saw 50% of the island. We rolled our deposit over and booked for 2017 at a warmer part of the year so we could go whale watching and go to the farmers market. We can't wait to return here!"

  • Loved this quiet water view retreat - heaven!!!

"My husband and I stayed this July for 4 nights and loved the place - nice inside, big windows with a view of the water - peaceful in the woods - the manager who gave us the keys Lily was so nice and helpful, the owner Sandra (whose home is on the property facing the water) was so nice and sweet. Hot tub down the short trail facing the water - wow!!! There are 3 studios in the building behind their home which all have views - they have everything you need inside and just the perfect location to town and the ferry - we would definitely go back and stay there - loved it!!!"
