How does the One Key travel rewards programme work?
One Key is our travel rewards programme where members can enjoy Member Prices and earn and use OneKeyCash¹ on eligible bookings. OneKeyCash is simple, £1 in OneKeyCash gives you a £1 discount on eligible travel. As long as you’re a member—and sign in before you make any bookings—you’ll earn rewards and collect trip elements across all eligible travel bookings.
Here’s what you earn: Members will receive 2% in OneKeyCash per £ spent¹ on eligible hotels, holiday rentals, activities, packages, car hire and cruises, and 0.2% in OneKeyCash per
spent on eligible flights. You can earn more on stays on eligible VIP Access Properties as you move up the tiers. And don’t forget, you earn OneKeyCash on top of most airline miles and credit card rewards. Planning a family trip? The account holder who makes the booking earns the OneKeyCash, no matter which travellers are named in the booking. All OneKeyCash, including those from return flights for all family members, will be deposited in your One Key account. No need to set up accounts for your family members or children to collect rewards.
- When you make most ‘Pay Now’ bookings, your OneKeyCash will arrive in your account just three days after you complete your trip. For ‘Pay Later’ bookings on Expedia and Hotels.com and holiday rental bookings on Expedia, your OneKeyCash will generally be confirmed up to 45 days after you complete your trip. Car hire bookings will generally be confirmed within 90 days of completing your trip.
1Excluding amounts spent on taxes and fees. OneKeyCash is not redeemable for cash and can only be used to discount eligible travel on Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo. Terms, eligibility requirements and exclusions apply, see here
How can I track and redeem my rewards with One Key?
-
Your rewards are easy to track—just head to your rewards activity page to see what you have earned and your progress towards your tier status.
-
When you’re ready to redeem OneKeyCash—once confirmed—it’s yours to use at any time. Here are a few details to keep in mind:
-
OneKeyCash can be used on ‘Pay Now’ bookings only and participating holiday rentals.
-
With One Key, you can now redeem rewards on eligible flights. OneKeyCash can only be used on eligible flights and you will need enough OneKeyCash to cover the entire cost, including taxes and fees.
-
OneKeyCash cannot be redeemed for cash and is not transferable to other members. However, you can redeem OneKeyCash on eligible bookings in someone else’s name.
-
OneKeyCash won’t expire as long as you have made an eligible booking or redeemed a redemption reward through a participating brand on your account at least once in the preceding eighteen (18) months.
-
You can earn and redeem your OneKeyCash on bookings made in currencies offered in participating brands and regions; however, OneKeyCash will always be tied to the currency associated with your account. We will look at your booking activity conducted in the last 12 months in regions where you will become a One Key member and align your account currency with the region most booked in when One Key arrives in that region. If you do not have any recent bookings, your account currency will be determined by the region you created your account in. (For example: if you have a One Key US account, but more bookings in an Expedia Rewards UK account, we will adjust the currency associated with your account to GBP when you become a One Key member in the UK.)
-
How do you reach tier status with One Key?
-
The more trip elements you book across Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo, the higher status you earn with One Key.
-
The more trip elements you book, the more status you earn. Trip elements are the different parts of a trip—One Key takes every trip element (worth £20 or more, excluding taxes and fees) into account and rewards you for it. Trip elements include:
-
Trip elements include:
-
1 air ticket (one-way or return flights)
-
1 hotel room night (each night counts as an element)
-
1 night in a holiday rental
-
1-day car hire
-
1 return-trip ground transportation ticket (airport shuttles, transfers, etc.)
-
1 activity ticket (a private tour, a theme park ticket, etc.)
-
-
-
Here’s what you need to book to qualify for each tier:
-
Blue - just sign up, it’s free!
-
Silver - 5 trip elements within a year
-
Gold - 15 trip elements within a year
-
Platinum - 30 trip elements within a year
-
So, for example, if you booked 2 nights in a hotel and a 3-day car hire, you’d earn 5 trip elements—enough to reach Silver tier status in one trip.
-
-
Trip elements are earned after bookings are completed and the confirmation time varies based on the type of trip and method of payment. Details are outlined in the terms linked below.

How do Expedia Rewards points transition over to One Key?
- Your Expedia rewards points will automatically be converted at their full value to OneKeyCash when you become a One Key member.
-
Any existing points converted to OneKeyCash will retain their original expiry dates. Your OneKeyCash (including your converted OneKeyCash) won’t expire as long as you have made an eligible booking or redeemed a redemption reward through a participating brand on your account after you become a One Key member at least once in the preceding eighteen (18) months.
-
You will still be able to access booking information and make changes through the same apps and websites with the same account you used to make your booking.
-
One Key is currently live in the United States and United Kingdom. If you have Expedia Rewards accounts in different regions, your rewards and trip elements will transfer to One Key when One Key launches and you become a One Key member in those regions. Until then, you will have separate active Expedia Rewards accounts with Expedia Rewards points to use in each region where you have an account. The same process will follow for all other regions. Accounts in other regions will be transitioned when you become a One Key member in that region.
-
For example: if you have US and UK Expedia accounts, you will have separate OneKeyCash you can use in the US One Key programme and Expedia Rewards points you can use in the UK Expedia Rewards programme until One Key launches in the UK. When One Key launches in the UK and you become a One Key member, those Expedia Rewards points will convert to OneKeyCash and combine with your US balance. Any trip elements will also be carried over as well, getting you closer to the next tier status.
-
How do Hotels.com stamps and reward nights transition over to One Key?
-
Your stamps and reward nights will automatically be converted to OneKeyCash when you become a One Key member.
-
Any existing Hotels.com Rewards stamps and Reward Nights converted to OneKeyCash will retain their original expiry dates. Your OneKeyCash (including your converted OneKeyCash) won’t expire as long as you have made an eligible booking or redeemed a redemption reward through a participating brand on your account after you become a One Key member at least once in the preceding eighteen (18) months.
-
You no longer need to wait for 10 nights to redeem rewards. One Key gives you the flexibility to use your rewards as you receive them, on your own schedule and for a range of travel options including flights and car hire. Currently, the value of your reward night is the average price (before taxes and fees) of the 10 stamps you collect. Any reward nights in your account will be converted to rewards at their full value and automatically transferred to your One Key account. A £100 reward night = £100 in OneKeyCash.
-
One Key is currently live in the United States and United Kingdom. That means that in some regions, you will be a part of the One Key programme and in others, the Hotels.com Rewards programme will exist until One Key arrives in that region. Your rewards will be transferred over to OneKeyCash when you become a One Key member in that region.
-
In order to calculate your eligibility for One Key, your Hotels.com Rewards account will be associated with the region where you booked the most travel in the last 12 months. If that region isn’t part of One Key, then you will remain a member of the Hotels.com Rewards programme in that region. If it is, then you will be a One Key member.
-
When One Key launches in the region associated with your account, we’ll convert your Hotels.com stamps and reward nights to OneKeyCash. For example, if you are already a One Key member in the US but have also earned most of your Hotels.com Rewards stamps and reward nights in the UK in the last 12 months, we’ll convert the stamps and reward nights to OneKeyCash (if they weren’t already converted previously as part of your US balance) and combine those with your US balance when you become a One Key member in the UK. Depending on where the majority of your bookings were in the last 12 months, the currency associated with your One Key account may change from USD to GBP. Any eligible activity will also be carried over and converted to trip elements as well, getting you closer to the next tier status.
-
Please note that if you have made bookings in multiple regions on your Hotels.com Rewards account and the majority of bookings were made on other Hotels.com Rewards regions in the last 12 months, we will transition your rewards and account to that region when you become a One Key member in that region.
How does Expedia or Hotels.com tier status transfer over to One Key?
-
We will make sure that any eligible activity¹ across your accounts count towards your tier status. (*Note: the email address across your accounts must match for your activity to count.)
-
Existing Hotels.com Rewards and Expedia Rewards members will have their eligible activity counted towards their One Key tier status. To calculate this, we will either take your calendar year 2023 activity OR your activity from 1 January 2024 to the date you join One Key, whichever is higher.
-
If you are already a member of One Key elsewhere, any eligible trip elements from that region will be added into your account, which can get you even closer to reaching the next tier.
-
For 2025, any trip elements collected in 2024 will count towards your 2025 status. This includes any trip elements collected in 2024 before the date you become a One Key member from eligible activity on Expedia and Hotels.com.
-
Tier status will be earned on a calendar year basis, from 1 Jan to 31 Dec. Your status for the upcoming year will be determined according to the number of trip elements you have collected by 31 Dec and your progress will reset as of 1 Jan.
¹‘Eligible activity’ means: a booking made from an Expedia Rewards UK and Hotels.com Rewards UK, while signed in, account that: a) For Expedia Rewards, a booking that would have qualified for a trip element in accordance with the Expedia Rewards UK terms in place before the launch of One Key, and b) For Hotels.com Rewards , an eligible activity is a completed stay at a property of more than £20 (excluding taxes and fees and any discounts or reward nights applied) per night stayed.
