Great villa, Great location

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at this property with our family and once again we had a great time. The villa was in excellent condition with all the comforts of home. On arrival we found the villa to be clean and very welcoming. The decor is great. It is obvious to us that the owners take great pride in their villa. You will be hard pressed to find a better location, everything is close, the beach, pool, tennis and golf are all within easy walking distance. The best recommendation that we can give is that we will be returning to this Hickory Cove villa next year. Book it, you will not be disappointed.

Fantastic vacation in a great location and a very nice property

We enjoyed a perfect vacation in one of the best locations on Hilton Head Island. The property was everything we expected, and more!! Very well-furnished, with large, spacious rooms, and bright and airy decoration. The property was spotlessly clean and well stocked, with all appropriate utensils and kitchenware. The house is ideally situated on the golf course, with a great deck on which to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or to cook out in the evening. It is very close to the beach, with convenient access for bikes or for walking. Perfect for a short stroll or ride to the beach to watch the sunrise - a great way to start the day. It is also a short walk from the tennis courts and resort pool. We especially enjoyed biking around the neighborhood and on the beach. The owners were very helpful in answering questions about local amenities and restaurants. Both the property and its location make it an ideal place to either spend an active vacation playing tennis, walking, biking etc, or to just chill and relax. Not only would we recommend the property unreservedly, we will definitely be returning for a future vacation.

Wonderful Vacation

Our recent family vacation was wonderful thanks to this comfortable Palmetto Dunes villa. The proximity of this villa was perfect for all of our activities. The location of the villa to the beach was very manageable; it is situated close to biking trails, and has a view of the 18th green of the golf course. The villa is conveniently located to grocery stores, restaurants and other retail options. We have enjoyed vacationing in other Hilton Head locations and Palmetto Dunes is now our favorite! This villa was so accommodating! Each room boasts a rather spacious environment allowing each member of our family to have their own private space. The bedrooms are well decorated with bright, cheerful island colors and comfortable bedding for restful nights. It is well equipped for making meals at home with all the small appliances, dishes and utensils you would need. The villa was clean, comfortable and lends itself to a relaxed, lived-in atmosphere. The surrounding area of this villa was very inviting for our family. The villa provided ample parking spaces as well as an area for parking strollers and beach gear in a secure manner. The main deck, off of the living area was so pleasant for morning coffee, evening meals and enjoying being outside in a relaxed setting. The owners of this villa were so very responsive to each and every question we had. We’ve used VRBO before and were disappointed in one of our choices but this experience has been more than positive and it is our hope to use this villa for future vacations.

Worst accommodations in 9 years!

I will stick to the review guidelines in my description. The listing description/photos were not accurate. The listing said new carpets, which was a selling point for me as I have a crawler:) The carpets were filfthy. The furniture was different than the listing. The chairs in the dining room had nails coming through. The property was not clean. We spent the first several hours cleaning the property. One of the toilets was broke and unusuable. The twin beds were so uncomfortable that the adults sleeping on them were reminded of camp beds and got little sleep the first three nights. The blinds in the bedrooms and living room are very dated; some of the blinds were completely missing so the property was very lacking in privacy. We hung blankets on the windows in the bedroom downstairs and decided against using the sofa sleeper because the blinds in the living room offered no privacy. The doors in the living room are hung wrong, so in order to go out on the deck we had to squeeze by furniture and move it. The refrigerator was too large and therefore did not allow the kitchen door to open, thus you can imagine what a fire hazard this could be. The property caretakers were fairly prompt in checking into our complaints. But it was extremely inconvenient as it took away from several of our days to make sure that these things were taken care of. The twin mattresses were finally replaced after three nights of little sleep. Our complaints are not about the decorations; they are substantial complaints - toilets, beds, blinds (privacy), etc. The owner was of very little help. She admitted to knowing the conditions of the property and we were told by one of the caretakers that she visited at the beginning of the season and was aware of the outdatedness of her property. We were celebrating a birthday and an anniversary and everyone staying in this house had scrimped and saved to enjoy a nice vacation which starts with a clean, well-maintained living space. We love Hilton Head Island and this is the ninth year we have rented from VRBO listings. We have never even considered complaining about one of the eight properties of previous years.

Owner response:Firstly, we are very sorry if the people visiting our property did not enjoy the experience. We always want to ensure that visitors to our house enjoy themselves and reacted straight away when the visitors said the beds in the 3rd bedroom (which were advertised as ideal for children) were not comfortable, we bought new beds on the same day. We also reacted as quickly as we could to the fact that the house may not have been cleaned appropriately between visits. We have owned the property for 3 years and take great pride in the way it is maintained. The property has been rented out by guests a number of times, some of which have made return visits. We have never had any previous complaints. Over the last 3 years we have decorated the whole house, installed new vanities, bought patio furniture and new sofas (this is why the photographs were different from the VRBO website, these are now up to date). We have come down to the house to check on the list of complaints. The house is in very good condition and the most effective way this can be demonstrated is to encourage anyone who is looking to book a vacation with us is to call Island Gateway, our agents, the islands largest rental company, as they can confirm that the house is in great condition and ideally situated.
