New to Santa Fe Vacation Rentals - a delightful guest house with fantastic views.
This casita has it all: fantastic views, charming Santa Fe ambiance, spacious accommodations, beautiful gardens, full kitchen and laundry room, walled patio and a second story deck.
Less than a mile off Old Santa Fe Trail, you will drive up the hillside into a gated 5 acre wooded compound. The compound includes 2 casitas, a studio and our home all spaced on the hillside to maximize everyone's views and privacy. It is hard to see one from another except on the drive up.
The guest house/ casita we are offering has been a year round residence for years and is just now being made available for vacation use, so it is set up for comfortable living. Coming up the drive you'll come to a two story, 1500 square foot casita. Walk in the gate to an enchanting walled patio surrounded by a beautiful well established garden.
It is a delightful place to while away the afternoon or enjoy the sunset warmed by the outdoor fireplace. You'll enter the first floor to a lovely sunken living room with so many windows that you will still be part of the outdoors. Sit across from the kiva fireplace (equipped with firebox for efficiency) on the comfortable sleeper sofa ( which sleeps two ) and watch the birds, rabbits and occasional coyote cavort right outside your window. Or sit back with a good book or movie chosen from the well stocked library and relax. There is a TV/VCR/DVD with cable provided for your enjoyment.
If you have a little work to be done or a note to send, pull up to the built in desk off the kitchen and hook in to the DSL.
The kitchen is complete with full oven, microwave, dishwasher, two cook tops, large refrigerator and is completed with all the dishes, pots and pans, small appliances, and linens you'll need. Just off the kitchen is a pantry with a full size washer and dryer. Also on the ground floor is a full bath and a dining area with a rustic table and 6 chairs as well as a built in buffet. All with freshly refinished oak floors or saltillo tile.
An alcove off the living and dining area is a secluded place to sit or nap on the Taos bed (which provides comfortable sleeping for one). As you move through the first floor, you will climb the spiral stairway past a truly fantastic stained glass window (which is part of the second full bath ) to the second level. The vigas, windows and wood will welcome you.
The second floor has a lovely bedroom with queen size bed and a large window with views that entrance you. You can enjoy the views of the Jemez and Sandia mountains even better from the 20' x 20' second floor deck. And what a place to view the stars! As I mentioned, there is a second full bath with large tub/ shower and a double vanity. As an added plus, there is an alcove off the bedroom that is perfect for a reading area and has another queen size bed for additional sleeping.
Now that you have found the perfect place to stay prepare to enjoy all Santa Fe has to offer. Just down Old Santa Fe Trail you'll come to Museum Hill and the turn for St. John's.
Continue on the trail and you'll soon be at Canyon Road with all the wonderful galleries, shops and restaurants. Back on the trail, you are blocks from the Plaza the "true heart" of the City Different.
All we need is you to make this picture complete. Have the best of both, convenience and seclusion and quiet. For any questions please call the number below. Wherever you choose to stay, have a wonderful time in the land of enchantment. Our web site has been redesigned and has a complete description of both casitas and the studio.
For the months of June, July, and August, we are asking for a 3 night minimum stay. If you need a shorter period at the last minute, we'll see if we have a gap you could fill. Thank you.

Why the Owner Chose Southeast
WE LOVE SANTA FE!! We had visited Santa Fe for over thirty years. First we were the typical tourists, staying in hotels and motels. Over the years of visiting we got where we wanted a more home like experience and we discovered a wonderful casita that we returned to year after year. The more we visited the more we wanted to spend more time in Santa Fe. So we looked for a permanent rental. What we found was the perfect guest house and we were "in love", but as with many love stories there was a catch. They put the property (5 acres with main house, "our guest house" and a casita ) up for sale. It was time to "fish or cut bait" and we decided to make a permanent move to Santa Fe. We bought the property that we fell in love with and chose to share it with others. We hope all that visit will like it as much as we do.
The Unique Benefits at this Guest House
What we fell in love with was the privacy and quiet of our property combined with the convenience of being minutes from anything we could want. Coming from a larger city, we were tired of the hustle bustle and traffic we had to fight to get anywhere. What we found was property that is secluded and quiet but less than a mile off Old Santa Fe Trail (a two lane main road into town ). Our property is at the end of a very small road that dead ends into our acreage. We are surrounded on all sides by undeveloped land. You can sit and watch the sunset and the city lights below and still hear the birds sing. While we have three houses on the property they are spaced up a hillside with trees in between and can't be seen one from another except on the drive up. This further gives the feeling of seclusion and privacy. If you are like us you will appreciate the coming home feeling that you get when you stay with here.
Owner's Map of Southeast
David and I are Semi-retired. We lived in Austin, Texas our whole lives and first came to Santa Fe on our honeymoon years ago. We have two amazing kids who are busy working in fields they love. We were in the green industry prior to having this vacation rental and becoming a licensed realtor. We love to share stories and information about our adopted state, New Mexico, but respect our guests privacy. We are there to answer any questions or if a need arises, but consider your guest home as yours while you visit.
