The wildlife is always very close in the canal. Blue Herons, swallows, and King Fishers are part of your personal area. The fishing off the back deck is very good and the Canada Geese and Mallards visit you everyday.
The owners of the property live on the site and are very entertaining people. John has a Captains license and can take your family or group out on a tour or a fishing trip at your request. There is a paddle boat at no charge and kayaks and canoes available for an extra charge. The owners will encourage you to participate in one of their famous campfires, complete with song, stories and skits.
The property has a land-side bathroom complete with shower for your convenience. The owners operate a gift shop and a special discount is given to all renters. John is an accomplished Chainsaw sculpture and will do a special work of art at your request.

Our family...grandparents, 40's and teenage daughters vacationed here the first week of August 2011 and had a great time! Nice setting on the canal, wineries nearby, A large Amish market near by(the name escapes me), nice restaurants near by. We saw waterfalls, boated and did a few college tours. John and Paula are great hosts. The houseboat was clean and well maintained. My only regret is that we didn't have enough time to go our on John's pontoon boat sunset cruise! Definately a hidden jewel on Seneca Cayuga Canal!

About how AMAZING this place is. I went with a group of friends, and just had the best time (we actually are in the midst of figuring out when we could visit again). Its about 5 hours north of New York City. The houseboat was perfect for our needs- super clean and very nice. The grounds are gorgeous- the canal is perfect (especially during sunrise and sunset). Paula and John were fantastic hosts! The folks staying in the other boat were loads of fun- and the Yurt- was probably one of our favorite areas to hang out! Its also very close to a ton of vineyards! It was just overall a great time- and we definitely plan on returning.

We enjoyed the exclusive use of the facililties. My 3 boys and their friends jumped from the top of the boat houses. Free use of the row boat and minimal rent for kayaks. There are bbq grills and did some bonfire in the premises. The fireworks on the 4th of July weekend should have been fun with the boat ride but cant fit enough as we are 17 people. Definitely will go back again and highly recommended. A+++
