Wiley’s Place is a four-bedroom, 1.5-bath vacation home atop Rich Mountain on the Tennessee-North Carolina state line, near Max Patch Mountain in Pisgah National Forest. Situated at an elevation of more than 4,100 feet and just northeast of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, guests enjoy cool summers, snowy winters, and clear, star-filled nights away from the city lights.
Remote but comfortable, this almost new cottage features huge picture windows, a 450 square-foot deck, a 300 square-foot covered porch, a five-seat hot tub, and all the amenities, including a 27-inch color TV with satellite dish, DVD, washer and dryer, and linens. With convenient access to the Appalachian Trail and close to Max Patch Mountain, guests enjoy an endless variety of Smoky Mountain vistas and all manner of outdoor activities.
Hiking trails abound near Wiley’s Place. You can walk the Appalachian Trail as it crosses Max Patch Mountain on the way to Hot Springs to the north and the Great Smoky Mountains to the South. Or head over to the Big Creek or Cataloochee areas of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a little further away, but worth the drive. There are plenty of trails in Pisgah and Cherokee National Forests, too, and Wiley’s Place is surrounded by both.
If you like to wet a line, there are also plenty of good fishing holes in the area. The pond at Max Patch Mountain is just one mile from the door and is a great place to take the kids. Cold Springs Creek is a classic trout stream, just a few miles further down the road in the Harmon Den area of Pisgah National Forest. Both the pond and Cold Springs Creek are stocked with rainbow trout by the U.S. Forest Service. Other river activities within a short drive include llama trekking, canoeing, kayaking, and whitewater rafting.

Wiley's Place has a seven night or $750 minimum.
$750/week (2 guests, additional guests $70/week)
Each additional night: $120/night (2 guests, additional guests $10/night).
Pet fee: $35 per pet for any length of stay.
$200 deposit is required. refundable with 60 days notice.
