This vacation home sits nestled on 26 acres of pine and aspen along the Methow River near North Cascades National Park, Pasayten Wilderness, and Okanagon National Forest. Methow Valley's legendary 200 kilometers of cross country skiing is just across the road. In the summer, ski trails become biking trails making the valley a bicyclers' paradise for everyone from families to the most ambitious mountain bikers. Great rock climbing is just a few hundred feet up the road. In every direction beckon all levels of hikes in dry forest or alpine meadows, including fantastic ridge walks above 6000' along the Pacific Crest Trail at Harts Pass.
Mazama is an easy amble down the road with a seasonal farmer's market and the Mazama store, gathering spot for locals and visitors. The favorite local swimming hole is down the road with a warmer water option at Pearrygin Lake. The Old West town of Winthrop is a few miles away with great shopping and casual or fine dining.
Of course you may choose to to stay on the property, amble down to the river to wade and watch the rapids or fish in summer, snowshoe in the winter or lounge in the newly furnished comfortable house and read a good book!

Our family rented this property for the summer of 2011 sight unseen and have rented in Mazama a half dozen times previously for shorter periods. The first, and every, time we turned into the driveway, we marveled at our fortune to have found such a beautiful, private gem of a home among the pines, with views to an aspen grove, and the river just a short walk from the house. The front porch and side yards are meant for romping and playing. The home itself invites merriment and relaxation with a fantastic, spacious open floor plan with a fabulous, fully loaded kitchen (think not one but two double burner griddles to whip up pancakes for a crew and a kitchen aid mixer we used for impromptu cookie making), a huge dining room table, and a living room made for lounging and conversation. Our favorites: the fabulous gas grill, the view from the master bedroom, the eclectic bookshelf, the beautiful quilt hanging in the upstairs hall, the oh-so-functional foyer/mudroom, evening drinks on the front porch, the proximity by bike to the mazama store (6 mins) and swimming hole (12 min), the utter quiet and privacy to enjoy the wind in the trees, and the lovely owners we had the pleasure of getting to know a bit. We've fallen in love with this spot and I imagine most anyone else would too. Great for multiple couples or families, especially those who love to cook (or eat), enjoy nature, and are looking for the perfect setting to enjoy spending time together.

Your Mazama home set in a pine forest along the Methow River is incredible. Not only is it beautifully situated, but it was also very comfortable with many interesting design aspects. Our 6-year-old loved the kids’ books and my 9-year-old spotted a unique lizard in the wood pile within minutes of arrival. It was difficult to push ourselves out the door each morning for adventures when situated in such a great home and setting.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.
