Trendy Park Slope Brooklyn! 1 Bedroom Apartment for Rent

Year Purchased: 2005

Why the Owner Chose Brooklyn

I have lived in Brooklyn for more than 20 years and my husband and I decided to purchase a home in the Park Slope neighborhood for many reasons: its wonderful brownstone architecture, the great sense of community, the best restaurants and shops, the proximity (short walk) to the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), The Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn Bridge and of course the jewel of Brooklyn, Prospect Park designed by Frederick Law Olmstead. Also, we are only 15 minutes by subway from Manhattan.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment

People who visit New York as tourists usually only think about Manhattan and all that that has to offer. But once they discover the Borough of Brooklyn with its great museums, theater, gardens, restaurants and shops, they realize that New York City is so much more than they had ever imagined. You can walk from our door, around the corner, and find some of the best coffee, your morning newspaper, a delicious lunch or dinner and never even have to cross a street! We have compiled a notebook filled with all the best addresses for shops, restaurants and cultural activities all within walking distance of our home. And if you still want to get into Manhattan, several subway lines are close by to take you there in less than 15 minutes.

Owner's Map of Brooklyn

My husband and I both work from our home in the furniture manufacturing and distribution business. We love the atmosphere of this neighborhood with its diversity, culture and proximity to one of the greatest public parks ever built. We are the proud owners of an Australian Shepherd, Polly, and we enjoy taking her to the park every morning for off-leash time, a veritable tourist attraction in itself.

Lives up to all the great reviews...

We stayed here for 5 nights during the big snowstorm just prior to Halloween. All around a suburb experience. We've stayed in many VRBO properties and this apartment was amazing. Well loved, clean, unique and tasteful, walking distance to great restaurants, and a 15 min. subway to Manhattan. Park Slope was a great surprise--so much to see and do within just a few blocks.

Charming Accomodations

Date of Stay: 11/29/11 Review Submitted: 12/06/11

We had a delightful 6-day stay at this lovely Brownstone apartment. It was extremely comfortable, clean, private and quiet. It is beautifully decorated with old world charm. The owner was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. This pleasant neighborhood has abundant restaurants offering delicious American and ethnic menus, and also grocery stores, shops and bars. We walked to Prospect Park and the beautiful Botanical Gardens. The subway is within reasonable walking distance and we travelled into Manhattan daily to see Broadway shows and peruse the wonderful museums. I would highly recommend this apartment for anyone looking for a city stay in a quiet and charming neighborhood for a reasonable price.

We stayed in this charming apartment for 4 nights. Lovely antique furnishings, comfortable and very spacious for two people. It's a short walk to great restaurants (on 5th Avenue and 7th Avenue), an independent bookstore, and gorgeous Prospect Park. The owners are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!

Heartfelt thanks to owners. Wanted to walk Brklyn Brdge & decided to make this our base for a short, 3 ngt stay vs. NYC. Prev reviewer explained so well by saying owners generous in trusting visitors among nice antiques, furnt & all sorts of pictures, books & artful objects. Felt like immediate residents just for having stayed here & in exploring area. Plenty of brochures for siteseeing/rest/local info. Lots of archt details, cool sky lights, pretty backyd views from bdrm thanks to owner's love of gardening & shady tree lined st from livg rm windws. Bed & linens exc! Rarely sleep in & made myself 1 morning just to enjoy the comfort. Bathrm even better in person; spotless, bright & rainfall showerhead (yipee). Clearly not just a space to rent but thoughful & special place who's owners are kind & friendly. Private entry up front stoop as seen in photo & continue up entry hall staircase to apt. Great privacy while help is only a doorbell away if needed. Arrivd Sat morn b4 check-in so dropped off bags & caught Park Slope in full swing: flea mkt on corner @ 6th Ave schoolyard, stoop sales along sidewalks on way to Prospect Pk where farmer's mkt fans out across Grand Army Plaza in front of Bklyn Pub Library (worth a quick pop-in) 5th & 7th Ave's busy w/ shoppers & families strolling w/ dogs & kids of all sizes on razor scooters navigating sidewalks like pros! Pizza at Two Boots just east of apt on 2nd St. exc, inexp & obvious local fav. Quick stop at Key Foods on 7th Ave & ran smack dab into Wafel & Dinges truck (known in NYC as best Belgian waffles & now frequenting Park Slope) & neighbrhd game of stick ball going on as crowd was gathered on church steps. After watching grown men dodge traffic to make a catch (yikes!) & a peek inside church, finally made our way to apt to rest & freshen up. Though NY had a humidity streak while we were there, A/C units & ceiling fans quickly cooled apt. Spacious & quiet refuge for lounging in the A.M. & after long days. Felt perfectly safe at all hours. 5th & 7th Aves loaded w/ restaurants. Had awesome meals at JPan (sushi & to-die-for udon noodles) & Moutarde (casual french). 10-15 min walk to UNION subway stop at President St. & 4th Ave. The R Line goes direct to South Station (Staten Island Ferry for views of Statue of LIberty). Easy transfers to other areas like DUMBO/Brklyn Heights & anywhere in NYC. Ironically never did walk the Brklyn Bridge but there's always next time. Can't say enough good things @ owners & property!

So nice to come home to...

This lovely apartment exceeded our expectations. We came to NY for a week to attend our nephew's Park Slope wedding and to sample life in the big city. Being small town folks, we're used to a slow pace of life and, after each day's excitement in the city, we loved coming back to the serenity and graciousness of this rental so we could get recharged for the next day. The apartment is beautiful and tastefully furnished. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept well. The hosts are very friendly and helpful and, at the same time, unobtrusive. The neighborhood is quiet and feels very safe. We were close to our nephew's home and the wedding events as well as unlimited wonderful restaurants, transit stops, coffee shops, markets, post office, Prospect Park, museums, gardens, etc., etc., etc. Many thanks to our hosts for sharing their lovely home with us...

Perfect Park Slope Visit

Guest: R&K (Lakewood, OH)
Date of Stay: 08/25/11 Review Submitted: 09/01/11

We can't imagine a nicer place to have spent our Irene-extended holiday. We love Park Slope but the location of the apartment coupled with a subway shutdown due to Irene forced us to explore the area even more and we were not disappointed. The number of restaurants and diners within easy walking distance provided us with a difficult choice to make each time we ate out. Prospect Park and the Botanical Gardens are a great way to spend a quiet afternoon. And the apartment is wonderful. Margaret made us feel right at home. The apartment is nicely decorated, very clean, and so comfortable. We definately plan to return and have already recommended it to friends.

Fabulous apartment

Guest: JJB (Southwest U.S.)
Date of Stay: 08/11/11 Review Submitted: 08/15/11

We often stay in this area to visit family, and this apartment is head and shoulders above the hotels in the area, and even the very best and most elegant of the b&b's. It is in a perfect location, close to transportation, shopping, restaurants and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Brooklyn Museum of Art, and Brooklyn Academy of Music. The apartment is absolutely immaculate, and the living room is larger than it looks in the pictures. We could not have been more comfortable. My only concern in writing this review is that this property will become so popular that we will have a hard time renting it for our next visit!

We couldn't be more pleased with out stay.

Date of Stay: 06/29/11 Review Submitted: 08/02/11

My wife and I (both 63) recently stayed in this apartment for 11 nights (Jun-Jul) in order to experience Brooklyn and also spend time in Manhattan. It was our third trip to NYC in the last two years, having previously rented apartments in the East Village and Harlem. We started renting vacation apartments many years ago (Rome, Florence, Paris, Barcelona, Lucca, Perugia, Montepulciano, Venice, etc.) This is the nicest apartment we have ever rented. Gracious hosts, very spacious and clean rooms, comfortable bed, new bathroom, and most especially, fine furniture and antiques and very nice paintings, prints, decorative objects and books. You don't often see owners willing to trust their tenants with such things. Park Slope is wonderful. Many, many nearby restaurants, markets and shops. The Brooklyn Museum of Art is not to be missed. We spent two afternoons there. Access to Manhattan is painless--about 4 blocks to the subway station. Only one suggestion--a serrated knife to cut bagels would be great!

Owner response:A new serrated knife will be installed promptly! Thanks for the suggestion. New York bagels musn't be compromised.
