We don't even know how to start to write our review. Every now and then you go somewhere that you know is going to be with you always, We have a location in Italy which we think of and return to often ..and now we have Spinning Wheel. We spent a wonderful 4 nights in the cottage. In practical terms the location is perfect for visiting the Yosemite National Park. Groveland (and particularly the Iron Door Saloon) provide excellent amenities but this place is much more than just a great place to stay in the area. The Cottage is a wonderful 'nest' where you can relax in comfort. We loved the bath house and the whole environment but in particular the hosts Peter, Deb and son Jasper make this experience special. Every guest is welcomed to their special place and as a result there is a friendly feeling among guests as they share the pool and hot tub. We cannot recommend Spinning Wheel highly enough to prospective holidaymakers. Thank you Peter, Deb and Jasper for making our special trip extra special. Claire & Colin

This our second time at Spinning Wheel we found the Cottage perfect. Arriving after dark our host Peter met us driving in and had the campfire burning . After a 10 hour drive and a hot shower we fell into a most unusually comfortable kingsize bed . We awoke late to the sun shinning and birds singing. This being July 9,2011 the weather was nice with a cool breeze. Our Cottage had everything including coffee beans and a grinder. We spent 4 days here enjoying this dream-like place, fishing, reading, watching and listening to the rushing river and exploring. We bar-be-qued four good size trout. We also enjoyed the swimming pool in the afternoon sun. We even had internet here so husband could ck. his e-mail while sitting under a pine tree. I now learn that we missed seeing the waterfall near- by. We will do that next time. Groveland ,a complete little town about 14 miles down Hwy 120 has a well stocked market and the oldest saloon in California. Please remember to bring your detailed directions, don't let the 3/4 mile dirt road discourage you, you will soon arrive into an oasis of lush green. Anita
Owner response:Hi Anita, thanks for the beautiful review. I couldn't respond to the Trout House review because the vrbo web site wasn't working and it blocked us from responding. sorry about that, and thanks for reviewing us there as well. It was really lovely having you, we look forward to seeing you again! Best to you and your husband! Deb, Peter & Jasper

We used this delightful cottage as a convenient lodging venue as we explored Yosemite. This is unfortunate, in a way, since The Spinning Wheel has so much to offer on its own as accurately described in the listing and the photos: clean room and comfy bed, pool and spa, lush grounds, beautiful river, miles of hiking and the canopy of stars visible at night. It would really be a wonderful place to come to unwind as its own final destination. Peter and Debbie were gracious hosts who know how to make their guests feel welcome.

Our stay at the Spinning Wheel Cottage was very relaxing and a great way to wind down after exploring Yosemite Park. The owners have poured their heart and soul into this place and it definitely shows! You are surrounded by beautiful flowers and mountains and feel like you are in your own little paradise.
Owner response:Thanks so much for your wonderful review Sara, we so enjoyed having you and glad our gardening & decor & atristry made a difference for you...we aim to please! Best, Deb, Peter & Jasper

Stayed September 2010. Spinning Wheel Cottage was very much as described and hoped for. The owners who live nearby on site were welcoming, knowledgeable of the area and helpful. It is a well equipped, characterful studio cottage set in a peaceful and relaxing rural location, one of four properties in the grounds, all private from each other. There are some lovely local walks, often beside the river that flows through the extensive grounds. It is convenient for Yosemite National Park, being 10 minutes from the Big Oak Flat entrance, an easy 45 minute drive to the Valley, and has good access to the Cherry Lake and Hetch Hetchy areas. There are restaurants and a well stocked supermarket in Groveland, a 15 minute drive away.

I found the Spinning Wheel Cottage to be one of the most relaxing places I have ever been. The surroundings were so beautiful and serene that I never left to go visit Yosemite, ten minutes away. Peter and Deb were gracious and friendly hosts who covered every detail to make my stay perfect. There are miles of trails and roads to bike and explore. The river flowing through the property - the Middle Fork of the Tuolumne - was a delight to swim in and a special treat was the wild blackberries growing along the banks. I ate a bunch. The Barsottis showed me a hike to a local waterfall nearby and I feel that I may have just scratched the surface. I will definitely be back. I was there for two nights and never slept better in my life.
