We have just spent one week in this wonderful apartment. It is decorated so nicely that we felt at home immediately. If NYC didn't have so much to offer, we'd have spend more time inside - so don't be afraid of rainy days on your visit. Herkimer St is not the most beautiful in the area, but what really counts is the fact that we were always pleased to come home to this cozy place after a long and tiring day in the 5 boroughs.Did you find this review helpful? We three senior women from California enjoyed spending a week in our own third floor flat of a family home. Cheryl and Mark were wonderfully generous, informative hosts who had answers for any questions we came up with. The flat was super clean, bright, cheerful, and a welcome haven to return to after each day of walking all over amazing NYC. The well equipped kitchen worked fine for leisurely breakfasts making up our daily plans, and as a cozy retreat in the evenings when we did not have other plans. The location--very near a subway stop--, the layout, the amenities were as pictured in the listing. And for those on a tight budget (including us) it was such a good value in a very expensive city. Do be comfortable carrying bags up to the third floor on old wooden stairs, and be comfortable in a very urban setting. We would definitely return if we have another chance to explore NYC further.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our stay with my sister and brother-in-law at this rental was wonderful! It was a perfect location, very close to metro, easy to get to and from downtown, quiet place to stay and rest after all day walking through New York streets. This condo was very clean, provided us with necessary amenities and addition things we needed, such as cotton balls, international charger converters, additional blankets, etc. The owners are very sweet and helpful, Cheryl provided a map and gave the run down on things to do around Brooklyn and New York. I would love to come and stay there again and again. Highly recommend.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Fantastic stay! Location was perfect on 2min walk to the shop, laundrette, tube station/metro and all necessary places were all within 2min walking distance! neighbourhood was a nice friendly mix, i felt very welcomed by the owners who made sure I had everything needed for the stay, felt very much like my own place. The area was very easy to travel in the central part of nyc (manhattan) only like 20mins away and very pleasant people...i even left my iphone in the launderette and someone was kind enough to hand it in :D Coming from london, being 4 females aged 15 - 35 this was a very welcoming and safe area, safe enough to go to mcdonalds at 2am (conveniently located 5mins walk away) :D Id highly recommend this place for short and long term stay, the family were lovely, couldn't ask for much more at such an affordable rate!Did you find this review helpful? We were a family of 5 who stayed there for a week. It was very comfortable. Cheryl had furnished the apartment very well. We could comfortably have breakfast and also have tea/coffee just like at home. The location is very convenient esp. if you plan on going around in the subway. I would definitely recommend this rental!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers.

From the moment I got there, Cheryl and Mark were absolutely wonderful host. Mark helped me figure out my way around the city, gave me some wonderful suggestions about vegetarian cuisine in the area and helped me with find my way into the city (which by the way, was the subway right around the corner). The neighborhood is like a city neighborhood, but everyone seemed friendly. The property was very comfortable and perfect as it was just two of us staying there. We almost had another friend to stay and that would have been enough room for him as well. We were in town for a convention and there were a few functions that actually took place in Brooklyn so we were pretty central. Even though most of our functions took place in Manhattan the back and forth wasn't a hassle at all. I couldn't wait to come back home and tell my friends about my "new home" in Brooklyn!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This apartment is one of the true gems you can find on homeaway.com. The apartment is very comfortable and has all that you could need to feel truly at home. The apartment is decorated very tastefully and is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of NYC. The apartment owner Cheryl was very accommodating to our travel schedule and was always quick to reply to my questions via e-mail. I often use homeaway rentals and can promise you that this apartment is one of the best I have ever rented. Do yourself a favor and avoid the bed bug ridden hotels of New York and sleep in comfort in this incredible third floor apartment.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We had a great stay in this appartment early October. The appartment has all you need, including space which is rare in New York. We enjoyed having the kitchen to make our own breakfast and even the one dinner when we were too exhausted to go out. The place is very elegantly decorated and very comfortable. The location is convenient, really a minute walk to the subway and then straight to Manhattan (you can change to the express train at the first stop towards Manhattan which is much faster, esp on weekdays). The neighbourhood is safe and up and coming Bed-Stuy is at walking distance. Cheryl and Mark are extremely helpful and hospitable, lovely people. If I can make one suggestion it would be replace the mattress of the double bed.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

What a good trip! We arrived earlier than expected on the day but the flat was already arranged and Cheryl ready to welcome us. This place really made our stay in NY very pleasant. Manhattan is round the corner with the C train just a minute away from our door. The flat is well furnished, very functional and pleasant to live in with plenty of light and sittings. The deco in the stairs is really cool as well ! There were 4 of us but we never felt like stepping on each other and each one of us had their own space. If you are a small group I would say don't hesitate !Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+.

My wife and I wanted to stay in Brooklyn during our latest business trip to NY and we were glad we found this place. The apartment was tastefully and thoughtfully decorated. It was filled with all of things one would need to feel at home (i.e. fresh linens, kitchen supplies, ample storage, great books, etc.). The location is just steps away from the C train and a late night corner store among other conveniences. The only drawback for us was that we spent a lot of time working in Williamsburg and though we could get there by train it was a bit of an extra haul. However, getting into downtown Manhattan was quick and easy! We will definitely consider staying there again especially since the owners really went out of their way to provide us with an outstanding experience.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, sightseeing.
