Enjoy all the comforts of home and the majesty of Yosemite National Park in a beautifully furnished home that sleeps 2-6. Our cabin situated on a hillside is wrapped by a large redwood deck that runs from the kitchen door to the front of the cabin.
Our tastefully decorated cabin is located "inside" the park, twenty two miles from the valley floor. The cabin is located on the south side of the park very near the historic Wawona Hotel and golf course. The south side of the park has it's own unique beauty with less of the crowds.
You can hike along riverside trails, take a dip in a swimming hole in the Merced River, marvel at the giant Sequoia trees, ski at Badger Pass, visit the famous Yosemite Valley just a 40 minute drive away or just relax by a crackling fire. A wonderful destination for a family or couple.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2001
Eric and Anne Kastner live in Palo Alto, California. Eric is a native of California and Anne migrated here in 1980. They married 14 years ago and have 5 children between them. The youngest child is 8 and the oldest 35. Eric grew up near Yosemite National Park and both love the outdoors, animals and have a passion for the environment Anne is a former retail executive turned part time consultant and Eric runs his own law firm.
Why the Owner Chose Yosemite National Park
Eric grew up near Yosemite National Park and visited there often. Both his parents are also from that area. We wanted a spot that we could reach by car that offered both mountains and water. We never dreamed we would be lucky enough to own a home in Yosemite National Park
The Unique Benefits of this House
The Merced River is a beautiful river fed by the Sierra snow melt in the spring and summer. We spend many days lounging by the river, using rafts to play in the gentle rapids and cool off in the crystal clear water. Our home is located on the south side of the Park and 45 minutes from the Valley. It is rarely crowded in Wawona but still offers the beauty and hiking of the famous Yosemite Valley. The Valley a "must see" for new visitors is easy to visit. It is a wonderful day trip with lots to do and enjoy

Good But Not Good Enough

The house was beautiful but there were enough things that bothered us, so we wouldn’t stay there again. For starters, the cleaning fee was $150, not $100 as advertised. The master bedroom has a master bathroom that was padlocked shut. My wife and I had to use the bathroom down the hall which we shared with one of our sons. There is no dresser or closet in the master bedroom so there's nowhere to put your clothes. The close hallway closets, like the master bathroom, were locked. The wireless (DSL) internet did not work the entire week we were there. The TV in the downstairs family room had an "out of order" sign on it. There is a smaller TV upstairs on the main level. Upon arrival, we were told we would be responsible for bringing paper products and garbage bags. Having arrived late at night without these items, the office manager gave us extra garbage bags. We were lucky that the previous tenants left paper towels and toilet paper (no napkins or tissues, though). The refrigerator is cleaned out totally before your stay so there are no condiments like ketchup or mustard left behind. There are no spices either. You even need to bring your own salt and pepper. About half of the kitchen cabinets and drawers were locked. The BBQ grill was in a poor location relative to the kitchen. It was behind the house in a dark and dingy area. The spot light for the grill is very far away so when it's dark out, you’ll need a flashlight to grill. There were no BBQ cooking utensils and charcoal is pricey at the local store. The sign on the wood burning fireplace said not to use it after June so we didn’t. Bummer! This may sound petty but there are over 50 light switches in the house (we counted them for fun) so turning on some of them can be a frustrating challenge. After a week I still couldn't figure out how to turn on the lights on the outside steps. The stove burners cut out when you set them on low. The downstairs shower allows a good deal of water to escape onto the bathroom floor via a gap at the shower door, making quite a mess. However....The house is beautiful and the kitchen, modern. Beds were very comfortable and linens and towels are provided. The house is private and has only one house nearby. There was a piano and one bike. Lots of books and games, too. In summary, we were disappointed to be locked out of some crucial areas of the house. Having to provide basic necessities like salt and toilet paper, for a house of this caliber and expense, was a big turn off

Your beautiful cabin made our family vacation very relaxing, great location for all fun in the park yet out of the hustle of the valley. We felt at home and enjoyed our entire stay. The kitchen is terrific and the cabin is maintained beautifully. Thank you.

You have a fantastic cabin! The peaceful setting is a welcome alternative to the options in the Valley. We really enjoyed the nice, open kitchen with a great fridge too, The piano is a great way to entertain the family. Thank you so much for a warm comfortable cabin so we could rest and relax
