South Fork house description
Perfect mountain home get-a-way. Skiing and snowboarding in the winter months and gold medal fishing, river rafting in the summer. The wildlife is amazing year round. I even had a black bear on my front deck in July last year. He was trying to get to my Hummingbird feeder. Relaxing on the deck with a good book or visiting with friends is one of my favorite things to do here. I also love to go shopping in the neat little shops here in South Fork, also in Creede and Pagoso Springs. The people you meet in the stores become friends before you leave. The owners of the stores take time to get to know you. It is so different from the big city I live in. Very refreshing. The mountain views are awesome and the air, even though thin at 8500 feet, is clean and cool even in July and August. The Aspen trees become golden in late September and early October. I have a grove of Aspens right in my yard. The sound of them blowing in the wind is awesome. There are hot springs in nearby Pagosa Springs that are open year round and very relaxing and beneficial for your body.
The winters here are beautiful beyond compare. Snow covers the area and can start snowing any time between Labor Day until Memorial Day. I was just there on May 1st this year and it snowed several inches. The home is located in a mountain valley and every view is beautiful. There is a spring that you can hear running. It runs into the pond and down to the river at the end of the street. The two rivers come together here in South Fork. The Rio Grande and the San Juan.
The home has a King size bed in the master bedroom and a private bathroom. Even the views from the shower of the mountain are amazing. There is also a queen size bed in the guest bedroom upstairs. Also twin beds in the loft bedroom. These two bedrooms share a bath.
I hope you will come and visit and enjoy my mountain home as much as I do. It truly is a Place of Quiet Rest.
The interior of the home is all Aspen Wood and the furnishings are also made of Aspen wood. The home is truly a Log Home.

Our vacation was just perfect in ever way thanks to this lovely home in the mountains. This home exceeds our expectations and is well kept in ever way. We loved waking up each morning to 50 degree weather, cooking breakfast in this well appointed kitchen, then making a plan for a day trip driving around South Fork, Creede, or Wolf Creek. Whether we were fishing in the lakes or rivers, or playing golf at the Rio Grande Club, we were always glad to come back to this comfy home. The views are breathtaking. Several times a day, we would huff and puff on our walk up and down the street in this wonderful subdivision to go fishing. My husband caught beautiful rainbow trout in the pond near the house. Last night, we had pan fried trout and tonight we are having baked trout. Thanks for making your home available for others to enjoy. It was nice to have a well stocked kitchen including spices. We have rented many VRBO homes and this one is one of the best. Just beautiful in ever way. Thanks again.

Owner response: Thank you so much for your wonderful review of my mountain home. It truly is a beautiful place to spend your vacation. Gold medal fishing, golfing, river rafting, hiking and sightseeing are absolutely the best. All you need to bring with you is your clothes and groceries. I like to keep necessary items like spices, flour, sugar etc. in the cabinets. Thanks for the 5 star rating.
If you are seeking solitude, a great climate and relaxing atmosphere; this is a tremendous place for all three. The home is all that is stated and much more. Our 10-day experience on this property brings joy to our memories and leaves our hearts yearning to return. This home's location is nestled in the woods but close enough for the all the convienences of home. The small town gives access to your necessities without overpowering your need for solitude. The altitude can be a challenge but in a couple days, you appreciate the cool breezes. You have access to fishing and golf or just sitting on the porch. You can drive to Pagosa Springs for a day at the spa or to Creede for their incredible productions. There is lots to do or don't. You can find it all it and you will not be disappointed.

Owner response: A vacation is exactly what you want it to be here in the mountains. A time to relax and appreciate the great weather and the beauty of nature . Also lots of adventure can be found here. In the summer months you can raft the rapid river, hike to a gorgeous mountain lake and encounter wildlife along the way. Hand feed the chipmunks at the underground mine museum in Creed and take a drive on the Bachelors loop for a scenic view . There is an amazing golf course in South Fork and the summer weather is perfect for golfing. There is a private pond for owners and guest to use that is stocked with trout. In the winter months Wolf Creek Ski area is only 17 miles away where you can ski or snowboard. There are also lessons for the learners. There is also a restaurant that is perfect for watchers (like me) to sit and sip hot chocolate or have lunch.
Beautiful Vacation Home
Beautiful Vacation Home
My family really enjoyed our wintertime stay at Kairos in Southfork, CO. The vacation home was a perfect blend of comfort and fun. The property owners have given a lot of thought to this beautiful vacation home (from fully furnished kitchen and beautiful scenic deck to the washer/dryer). We liked being close to Wolf Creek Ski Resort, and experiencing the many activities the resort and nearby towns offer. I would highly recommend Kairos. It is the perfect anytime vacation home.

I certainly enjoyed my stay here in this beautiful mountain home with some friends. Every morning when we awoke there were deer in the yard. There is a private pond in the subdivision and we caught trout and grilled it for dinner. Had an amazing time and would recommend it for your vacation.

About the owner: I am retired and love the mountains.. My family and me share good times here in South Fork. The town is small and has all kinds of events. We love the 4th of July parade and even prepare a float and become part of the parade. The grand kids love hiking in the forest. My home is on 2 acres and there are plenty of trails in the woods They love to fish in the private pond in our subdivision. It is stocked with trout. We love to feast on grilled trout.
Why the Owner Chose South Fork:
My husband and me looked for years for the perfect vacation home. I lost him in June 2008 and I feel like God directed me to this home and made a way for me to buy it. He even gave me a name for the home...Kairos in the Mountains. Kairos means "an appointed place in the purpose of God". Every one that has had the opportunity to stay here has felt the peace and quietness of the home. It is a very special place for me and if you are able to come I know it will be for you also.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I enjoy sitting on the deck just admiring the majesty of the mountains and the wildlife. During the winter months the kids love playing in the snow, sledding down the mountain and roasting marshmallows over our wood burning stove. In the summer months we love to fish for trout in the pond in our subdivision and grill them for dinner. You have to keep an eye on the food on the grill because the bears like to eat also. There have been mountain lions in the area also, so be aware of your surroundings while outdoors. The home is in the national forest area. Exactly what you would want it to be.
