The property is located among a number of similar private dwellings, on the rural parkland estate of Tyglyn Vale, which is set in the lovely Aeron Valley countryside. The area surrounding Tyglyn Vale is perfect for walking , with quiet country roads and footpaths. The comparatively traffic free, quiet country roads in the area makes cycling a joy. The nearest town, Aberaeron, with it's brightly painted houses, and pretty pebble beach, offers a number of excellent restaurants, many good pubs, and small shops offering local produce, and you can enjoy 'dolphin spotting' boat trips from the harbour for a very reasonable price. The seaside town of New Quay is several miles to the south. It has a beautiful sandy beach that the family can enjoy, along with a good choice of pubs and restaurants. To the north is the bustling student town of Aberystwyth. Here you will find a great selection of restaurants and bars, along with a number of larger national stores.
Within a 5 minute walk of Tyglyn Vale you will find the 'Secret Garden' of Tyglyn. This walled garden is a must for any guest to visit, and is a fantastic place to picnic and explore. Within it's walls you will find flower beds, and borders which contain many types of interesting plants: some of it's produce is left out for visitors to purchase by the gardeners when in season. There is also a play area for small children, and many places to sit and relax. The River Aeron flows alongside the garden, and you can take a stroll along it's banks and explore the area further. Just 100 metres away from the cottage is the Tyglyn Country Hotel. This can by accessed by footpath directly from the estate, so there is no need to take the car if you fancy a tipple.

The coast of Cardigan Bay is ideal for those who enjoy water based leisure activities such as sailing, scuba diving, or angling: regular boat trips depart from Aberaeron and New quay on 'dolphin spotting' trips. There are many beautiful beaches dotted along the coast, including Mwnt, Penbryn, and Cwmtydu, and some of the picturesque towns and villages, such as Llangranog, Aberporth, and New Quay, are well worth a visit. Surfing, windsurfing, landsurfing or kitesurfing - Ceredigion's coast is a favourite with experts and beginners alike, and Borth, in Northern Ceredigion, is one of wales' most popular beaches for watersports. Windsurfers enjoy excellent conditions too, with experts heading for the swell at Ynyslas.
South of Aberystwyth, Aberarth is popular with surfers, whilst the large, horseshoe shaped bay and sandy beach at New Quay are sheltered from rough winds, making it a great location for family watersports. In southern Ceredigion, on the Teifi estuary the conditions at Gwbert are good for surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing too.
Sea kayaking is a perfect way to explore the Ceredigion Heritage Coast's hidden coves and sea caves and to spot wildlife including seals, dolphins and seabirds.

With a strong heritage of seafaring it's no surprise that sailing is a popular sport along Ceredigion's coast, with clubs at the harbours of Aberaeron, New Quay and at Gwbert. There are also visitor berths at Aberystwyth harbour marina. Sailing competitions start as early as February in New Quay, with a three day focus on the sport at the Cardigan Bay Regatta in August, combining sailing races with on shore swimming and a range of fun activities. Regattas are also held at Aberaeron, Tresaith and Cardigan.
Sea rowing is also a popular sport, with seven clubs along the Ceredigion coast. Every two years, the clubs compete in a gruelling race between Ireland and Aberystwyth.
Inland, the Teifi River is a focus for canoeists thanks to a series of great rapids to ride, with Llandysul being a focus for events, including international slalom competitions, an annual river festival in August, and popular Teifi Tour in October.
