- Minimum stay:3-5 nights
- Internet:Yes

Private oceanfront house located on Oahu's West (Waianae) Coast near Makaha Surfing Beach. Enjoy the deep-blue ocean and great sunsets from the lanai and large grass lawn. Nap to the sound of the waves. The property fronts coral reefs and is five houses to a sandy cove where green turtles come to shore and bask in the sand.
The main house is upstairs; three bedrooms, two full baths, great for two families. Well stocked kitchen, living room, fully-furnished with cotton sheets, beach towels. Three king size beds-one in each bedroom, two double beds and a double futon couch in back family room, and a double futon couch in the livingroom. We have two small children's futons and a crib. Downstairs is the caretaker's unit. There is high speed internet access for your laptop, cell phone reception is good.
The beach cove is one of the few places were sea turtles frequent most days, you can snorkel with with them and tropical fish like Humu'humu'nuku'nuku'apua'a

We love the house, it is all what we've expected. The information that we received from the owner was very helpful. Since we have kids, the beaches around the house are within walking distance and were really nice. The house itself is well maintained and didn't have any problem. We'll be returning back to the home on our next visit to Oahu.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Our family of 8 (7 adults & 1 child) had a fabulous stay at this house. The pictures do not do it justice at all. The lanai was a fabulous place to spend our mornings watching whales breeching, dolphins & turtles in the waves and sunsets in the evening. The amount of space in this house allowed for the 8 of us to never feel over-crowded and lots of outdoor space to spread out. The beach at Aki Cove delivered with the turtles, daily they were there and the walk to Makaha or Turtle Beaches was only 5 mins away. The scenery is gorgeous in Mahaka Valley. The toys available for beach play were super for our child and Lia (pronounced Lee-Ah, the caretaker) was so helpful in giving great advice on things to do and places to go and just a wonderful woman all around. Provided lots of interesting history of the area and can feel the pride she has for this area of Hawaii. How we are already missing the cooing of the doves and waves crashing on the shoreline. This is a place one must stay at if you are wanting to do nothing but relax! Mahalo nui loa Lia! We will be back guaranteed! Aloha!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our party of six adults visited Oahu and stayed in this wonderful oceanfront property between 11/01 - 11/08/2012. After looking at several properties and carefully studying reviews, we chose this property because it was large, budget friendly, and right on the water. Please believe me when I say that we were not at all disappointed! We arrived to a clean, airy, roomy, well stocked, and well equipped place to stay. You will not miss anything from home while you are here, everything, and I mean everything is provided. Lia, the caretaker was there to greet us and was so friendly and helpful with suggestions on the best activities to do on the island during our stay. She laughed when we told her she is an "internet sensation". Beds are clean, comfortable, and plentiful, bathrooms are spacious and have plenty of towels. The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances and more than enough cookware for even the most ambitious meals. Washer and dryer make it easy to pack less and wash more. There are two separate living areas in the house, both with cable tv, and ample room to sit and unwind, but I'm pretty sure you will spend most of your time on the fabulous lanai. We spent our mornings on the lanai drinking coffee and watching turtles play in the tide pools right behind the house. This is also a perfect place to enjoy the island breezes and watch some stunningly gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. So wonderful! Walk about 5 houses down and enjoy the beach while watching turtles swim close by. We were even lucky enough to see a couple of these magnificent creatures come right up onto the beach. It was awesome. The outdoor shower is great for skimming off the sand and salt before you make your way back to the house. The locals are pretty friendly and there are plenty of places to get groceries and fast food nearby. You will definitely need a rental car here, as this property is not located in a touristy area, but you will really enjoy the quiet. We also really liked the fact that there is plenty of parking and the property is gated, so there is a sense of extra security. Overall, we loved our visit, loved the place, and would love to come back someday and stay again. If you are looking for a beautiful, affordable, comfortable place...stay here. You will not be disappointed.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

As I sit here this last few moments before leaving this house, I wanted to write and say thank you so very much! My husband and I came to Hawaii to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and it was everything we thought it would be. We wanted to stay out of the hustle and bustle of the city and be able to enjoy the beauty that Hawaii has to offer. And your property had just that! From amazing views, to sitting on the deck listening to the waves crash, watching the turtles swim by as we play cards, beautiful sunrises and amazing sunsets!! Loved visiting the cove and seeing our new friends, the turtles!! Lia is true gem!! A new friend we have made :) she was such a big help with any questions we had! We will be back and it won't be in another 25 years! Hope to see this amazing place and view in a few years.....until then.....Mahalo.....Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

I would absolutely recommend this beach house! It suited our family of four adults and five 12-15 yr-olds perfectly! It was very clean and we spent a lot of time on the Lanai when there! It had a well stocked kitchen, new appliances and lots of conditments in the cupboards and 'fridge. The king size beds were comfy and the family room converted to a fourth bedroom! A high speed exhaust fan helped cool off the house in short order! We appreciated the two large bathrooms, well stocked with towels, but enjoyed outdoor showers due to the large amount of sand we would invariably bring home after boogie boarding or bodysurfing at Turtle Beach! watching Green Turtles floating in the ocean just past our seawall was a everyday pleasure! Summer is just the best time to visit Hawaii and we make sure Makaha is on our list when we stay. The recreational activities in this area suited out three generation family so well. We experienced swimming with dolphins in Makua Bay -they actually came back to swim around and under us!! We saw turtles Akai Beach nearby, a monk seal in molt just past Ko Oina and 3 Spotted Rays (Turtles Beach) within 15' of the kids swimming! We discovered calm Pokai Beach (Army Rd) and enjoyed snorkling along the breakwater! There are grocery stores nearby as well as Costco and many other shopping and great restaurant choices in Kapolei. Le'a downstairs was the source of alot of valuable information! This home will be part of many treasured family memories! Thank you for sharing this spot with us!.Did you find this review helpful? When my wife and I were looking for a place to stay in Oahu, we needed a place to sleep 5 adults, 1 teenager and 1 baby comfortably. Luckily, we came across this ocean front rental that had everything we were looking for plus more! Basically when you look at the pics provided, just imagine a nice ocean breeze with the sound of waves crashing just a few yards away. Then, imagine seeing sea turtles floating by... *sigh* miss it already! We probably spent 80% of our time sitting on the lanai watching the turtles float past. On to the smaller details, this house seriously has it all. Lia, the caretaker is very considerate and extremely helpful. There's a washer and dryer, lots of beach toys (snorkel gear, beach chairs, sand buckets and toys, boogie boards, skim board, and other floaties), all the kitchen utensils needed, coffee maker, pots and pans, toaster, rice cooker, bbq grill, plenty of beach and bath towels, fans in the bedrooms, clean, updated, wifi, ipod docking station for music, etc. Its basically a home away from home! You DEFINITELY need a rental car, especially if you want to explore the island and go eat, since Oahu has some really good restaurants spread across the island. Closest grocery store is about 5-10 minutes away, and the closest tourist heavy resort is about 25 minutes away (depending on how many red lights you hit). We look forward to staying here again, hopefully very soon! THANK YOU!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Third house rented from VRBO and this one was the best. This house had ample room inside and out for 5 adults (2 couples and mom) and then some. We greatly enjoyed our morning coffee and our evening drinks on the deck while oversseing the yard and the crashing waves plus spending time with the turtles and sealife at Aki's cove. The location of the property never felt too far from our destinations, Waikiki, North Shore, Pearl Harbor, shopping, etc. Lia, the caretaker, provided us with valuable little nuggets on the island and some enjoyable conversation. Overall, we found the house to be the best way to spend time with our family and our trip to the island. The only negative I can speak on our trip of was the cost of the drycleaning, which has nothing to do with the house.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

What a great place to relax and unwind. Looking out on the water from the lanai while enjoying that first cup of the day. We saw a lot of sea turtles floating in the waves. We also saw them when we walked to Aki's Cove (5 houses away). They make great swim buddies. We didn't want to be in the 'city' but wanted to be close enough for 'tourist' activities. This house was perfect for us. We didn't mind the drives and felt like we really did get away form it all. The house worked out great for us (family of 4). Not too big but not too small. Everyone had room to move around to read, watch TV, listen to music or just veg on the lanai. Well stocked kitchen and really comfy beds. Everything was well-kept and clean (I'm fussy about that kind of thing). We felt right at home. Lia and her sidekick Akami (hope I spelled that right) were very friendly and welcoming. Would love to come back again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We wanted a private beach house for the 5 of us... and found a true gem here! This house came fully equipped with towels, bedding, all kitchen items (even a rice cooker!!!!!), snorkel and boogy boards, cable TV, great internet access, laundry on site and beautiful views (and much more). The beach is literally right at the edge of the yard & rock wall. Turtles can be seen at all times of the day from the yard - although we decided that snorkeling right there was a bit of a chore between the surf, waves breaking and rocky lava... better left for the experts and more confident snorkeler! Many wonderful sandy beach options just a walk from the beach house. We loved how quiet and private it felt here - and would return in a heart beat. The drive from Honolulu or the airport (50 minutes - in moving traffic) was well worth the stay. It's a trade off though to stay further from the touristy activities of Honolulu... so plan around commuting if you really like that stuff. We preferred to stay and live in Hawaii as the locals do, so the beach house was perfect for us! We did rent a car so were able to also commute to many other sites and activities. ENJOY this spot... we sure did!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
