As you drive down our wooded lane you leave behind your hectic daily life and enter your own private refuge.
The Main House has 4 BRs and 3.5 baths. The main floor has open floor plan w/ a gourmet kitchen, a 6-seat island, dining room table for 10, and a naturally lighted sitting room with an old fashioned wood stove. The main floor MBR contains a king bed, private bath w/large two head shower, and a private balcony. Off the dining area is another balcony and a covered/screened-in porch. The kitchen has a Viking stove and gas grill with all the utensils needed to prepare a feast for family and friends.
The lower level offers 3 spacious BRs w/ queen beds w/built-in bookcases, 2 full baths and walk out access to a large backyard. The centrally located media room contains a large TV and lots of comfortable seating.
The Coach House has 2 queen sized BRs and 1 full bath. A game area with pool, foosball, poker, and air hockey tables. Also a video seating area.
A brick walkway leads to a private pond, deck/pier w/arbor, hot tub and lots of outdoor furniture to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere.
Renters of Galena Territory homes have access to a Marina(to fish or rent boats, tennis courts), Owner's Club(fitness room, basketball court, new indoor/outdoor pool), Golf Courses(63-holes & driving range), Winter Sports(ice skating, sledding, cross country skiing), Shennadoah Riding Center(trail rides & lessons).

The house is absolutely beautiful and secluded with a beautiful view. We also rented the carriage house since there were 6 couples with our group so our only complaint is that the carriage house had a musty/bad smell. Other than that, everything was amazing. There were lots of dishes, silverware, towels etc available to us. The pictures are very accurate to the house but it is much more beautiful in person. We would definitely all like to stay here again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

I rented this home for my husband's 50th birthday. There were six couples staying and we had five extra guests for dinner one night. More than enough room for all of us! The home is beautiful and it is very secluded. We couldn't see the home closest to us. If you want privacy this is the home for you. The owner Dave met us at the house and gave us the tour. He was very helpful in answering any questions we had and hung around and had a beer with us! I would rent this home again and would recommend it to anyone. We never left the house except to get ice. We have rented several vacation homes over the years and I have never stayed at a house that has a better equipped kitchen. There were more than enough towels including towels for the hot tub. There were games in the media room and the game room was fantastic. I wish i would hav rented the house for a week instead of just the weekend. No one wanted to leave! Thank you Dave for sharing your home with us. We will let everyone we know that if they need a rental home near Galena yours is the one they should rent.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

This past week we stayed Thur., Fri., and Sat. nights. The owner met us at the property (was there waiting when we arrived), gave us a full ture including how to run everything, where to find switches for outdoor lighting, hot tub, ect. Very pleased with the property. We were on a motorcycle trip and the owner suggested routes to take, places to see and eat. Everything was as expected and then some. Would give the entire experience a 100% A+ This was a group of 5 couples and all of us agreed if we were going that way again we would stay there again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We really enjoyed staying at this house. It was beautiful and spacious! It stayed cool in the super hot weather, plus when we were there mosquitos were minimal-which was great for being on a pond, seemingly in the middle of the woods. More than enough room for all of us as well. The listing was extremely accurate, and all photos reflected the amenities provided. The property was very clean and well maintained-just like staying in a beautiful hotel! I have recommended this property to others. The people traveling with me were also so pleased and will look to rent this in the future!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

Year Purchased: 2008
About the owner: About eight years ago friends of ours loaned us their house in Galena Territory for a couple of days while the well was being repaired at our home. Also at this time we were looking for a place to build a therapeutic riding center for special needs individuals. We fell in love with the Galena/Jo Daviess County experience and decided this would be the place where we would build the center. In 2008 our dream was realized and the center was opened. It is called "Area of Dreams" and is located on Blackjack Road near Chestnut Mountain Ski Area. See links for further information.
Why the Owner Chose Galena:
The center relies 100% on volunteer help. At the time we lived 3-hours away and most of the volunteers were from the same area. The center operates on weekends, so we needed a facility to house the volunteers who came on weekends. Luckily we found this unique property that fit these needs.

This is a very secluded/private property that makes people feel they are deep in the north woods even tho civilization is just over the next hill or on the other side of the trees. As people enter the house they immediately begin to relax due to inviting and warm atmosphere of the house. Next they cannot wait to explore the many unique and fascinating features of the property. The tin ceiling, wood stove, hot tub and pier, pond, media and game rooms, and interesting decorative items. The open floor plan offers a wonderful place for family and friends to enjoy each others fellowship.
