A beautiful ranch style home with lush landscaping and your own private swimming pool awaits you and your family. A hidden jewel in the Texas Hill Country, only five minutes from historic Gruene and tubing on the Guadalupe & Comal rivers. The décor is elegant with a Texas feel, every room has a beautiful Texas limestone wall. Ample parking on private grounds, surrounded by large beautiful oak trees – a very private retreat. Enjoy a day of fun on the Comal or Guadalupe Rivers, Schlitterbahn, Canyon Lake, shopping downtown New Braunfels, the San Marcos Outlet Malls or Historic Gruene, and then come home to your own private oasis away from the crowds. The entry doors are stunning and lead into a large open room with large comfy furnishings, a shuffleboard table and lovely vaulted ceilings. Indoor dining for 16 including a large table for the family to gather around and the serve through kitchen and bar. The house can sleep 16 comfortably with four bedrooms, one nook and a game room. The master has a king and two futons. The remaining three bedrooms have queen beds. The nook has a full futon and the game room has two queen sleeper sofas. There are four bathrooms. One large master bath, one bedroom has its own private bath and the other two bedrooms share a bathroom in between. There is a also a bathroom off the utility room between the kitchen and game room. The coolest part of all is the converted garage (game room) which opens up to the back patio and pool and has a huge TV and a man cave look! Flat screen TVs, cable, internet. Unwind on the large front porch with handmade furniture and porch swing made by PaPaw, a quiet place to relax and enjoy the wildlife. French doors from the master bedroom and french doors from the living area lead you to the spacious back porch and patio where you can gather round the fire ring or play dominoes or cards on tables that were handmade by Opa, while others can enjoy the pool, play basketball or climb the tree house. Or, just simply sit, relax and watch wildlife such as birds, whitetail deer and turkey come feed at the feeder just across the driveway.

We were looking for a place that would be quiet and away from the busy city noises, surrouned by nature, but yet close to activities for kids and adults. This house turned out to be perfect for us. We had 2 little kids (6 and 3 years old) and five adults - all loved the place. The house is beautifully decorated and was equiped with everything we needed for a week's stay. We even used the pool (which is not heated and was chilly), but with nice weather - very refreshing. There is a ton of space inside and outside. We brought bikes, scooters, tennis rackets - and enjoyed all these activities around the house. Loved the deer! They came right by the house several times each day, and it was a special treat for all. The owners were very accomodating and always responsive, a real pleasure to deal with. Definitely recommend the place for a family get-together, or getaway, and I am sure we will be back.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers.

As the road through the dense trees opened up to the clearing where the house is located, we were greeted by 16 deer casually eating and playing. We knew we had found our perfect weekend. The house is casual & inviting and felt like our home. The main room is large and easily handled 15 of us for the weekend. The open kitchen is well equipped with room for several cooks to be working. The access to WiFi and satellite comforted our technophiles. The location is great with a 10 minute drive to Gruene for dining out. We finished up with sitting around the fire pit on the patio, staring at the constellations, and vowing that we have to come back next year.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.

We had an annual church retreat at Escondida and it was very nice. We held services in the big living area and on the patio. We even went for a hike on the grounds! We had an all girls weekend and just loved it. Quiet, lots of privacy, bluebonnets in bloom! The pool and the outdoor patio were wonderful for eating outside. About the owner: My husband and I are both natives of New Braunfels. Growing up in New Braunfels was a blessing in disguise. We floated the Comal and Guadalupe rivers every chance we got. There were times that we floated both rivers in one day. As a kid you don't seem to appreciate the beauty of the surrounding area you are growing up in. But now that we are on the other side, we realize how blessed we were to grow up in a community with not one but two beautiful rivers, a quaint little town and Gruene Hall where we along with our parents have danced to many a good songs. We went to Canyon High School here in New Braunfels, married and have raised our family here. We currently live on the property next door to Escondida de Gruene
Why the Owner Chose New Braunfels:
We bought this property with the intention of creating a place for families to come and enjoy a relaxing vacation. The home was built in 1976 and is a beautiful ranch style home featuring rock walls in every room. We have spent the last year remodeling and landscaping the home with the help of wonderful family. Family is important to us and we wanted to share Escondia de Gruene so other families could enjoy a slice of what we grew up enjoying. There are lots of beautiful places you can stay on the rivers, but not many that are a private retreat away from the hustle and bustle, a secluded oasis as Escondida de Gruene. You are close enough to enjoy everything New Braunfels and Gruene has to offer, then come home to your own private retreat!
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge:
Private swimming pool with shallow sun deck and umbrella for the little ones. Lots of outdoor dining area. Large screen TV in gameroom to watch movies or Hook up your Xbox and play games. Adults can enjoy a game of shuffleboard indoors while watching the flat screen TV above the fireplace. Custom made card/dominoe tables on the back porch made by my Dad, known to our family as Opa. Relax on the front porch in the handmade furniture and porch swing built by my father-n-law, known to our family as PaPaw. Game room opens up to the back porch, patio and pool creating a gathering place for the entire family.
