This unique beach house looks very much like a boat, complete with portholes for windows. It is on the Balboa Peninsula right on the bay and 2 short blocks to the ocean. It is an amazing FAMILY FRIENDLY home with 5 Bedrooms. One of the bedrooms doubles as a GAME ROOM, another doubles as an OFFICE. Dramatic full bay views. Come and enjoy the beach lifestyle in this large, nautical style home. Huge yet cozy with bayfront patio with outdoor table and chairs. This is not your typical boring house rental. Walking distance to the Newport Pier and the Jetty.
Full kitchen including all plates, utensils, high quality pots and pans, gas BBQ in kitchen, Salton warming tray, gas stove, 2 dishwashers. Most of the interior is wood including rare koa wood lining the master bedroom walls.
This is the home I grew up in, and I live in it when it's not rented, so everything works. I leave the kitchen fully stocked. Beds are made, there are two sets of towels (24 towels for house, 24 for beach), multiple beach-chairs, a 10x10 popup, ice-chest with wheels, all kinds of balls, bats, croquet, horseshoes, soccer-balls, tubes of sun-block...

The Boat House ~ What a hidden gem!

Our family rents a lot of homes and it is difficult to find that perfect fit for our diverse group. I like a home that a) has a gorgeous view b) is in a safe neighborhood c) has a lot of elbow room d) is walking distance to the beach and restaurants e) has character f) big kitchen and dining room/family area In short, this house has it all! The pictures don't do it justice. First of all, this house is built like an actual boat complete with porthole windows, wood flooring and blueprint/nautical wallpaper. There are even small details like rope ladders on the bunk beds - super fun! This would already make for a fun adventure and not like other typical beach house rentals, but there's more! There is a patio on the beachfront part of the house (or the "bow" of the boathouse) and as well as a sandy play area on the beach down below. You can have cocktails looking out to the water and watch the kids play down below if you'd like - Now this is MY KINDA VACATION! There's even a small bar in the boathouse which is a nice touch. There is a large dining room table, kitchen (or galley), plenty of seating area and the views are divine. There is nothing better than waking up every morning and having a cup of coffee with that view. There just isn't. They have kayaks and such to use which is great fun. The Boat House is located inside the harbor area so the water is very calm. You can always go out to the waves at the main beach, but this is nice if you want a leisurely ride like I do. This is good for kids that aren't strong swimmers as well. Should you want to hang out at the "Main" Beach it is a quick stroll across the street. Get this: you can order a pizza and they will deliver right onto the beach for you! Again, My kinda vacation! There are stores, restaurants, a pub and such a short and beautiful walk down the beach. Like I said, this place has it all, down to the smallest detail. What a gem. My family cannot wait to return next year!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My wife and her sister decided that we were going to bring our families together for this summer's vacation. Newport turned out to be meeting point. With 7 kids (2 teens) between our families, we couldn't have found a better place. Almost everything is within walking distance. The beach was nothing more than walking a block to cross the street and we were there. The Newport Pier, within walking distance, allowed our wives to shop. My brother-in-law and his older daughter enjoyed their time surfing. For me it was just the ‘views’ and smells of the ocean. We were able to relax, when we were back at the beach house, because there were still plenty of things for the kids to do. Although video games are supplied, the kids didn't have time to play them. Surprisingly the big hit was the 4 kayaks. It was a good way to let the kids unwind and tire themselves out. My brother-in-law and I even took the kids, by kayaks, to Joe’s Crab Shack. I should have let the kids do more of the work. The best part was at night, when my wife and I would slip away and walk the beach hand in hand. It doesn’t get any better than that. All in all, for a family vacation, I can’t recommend it more.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.
