Location: Arcata, North Coast, California, USA View Map
Accommodations: Studio, 1 Bedroom + Other (See Description), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)
This elegant two-story studio is located in a secluded garden with a view of redwood trees and Humboldt Bay, yet it is just a short walk to downtown Arcata. It is light and airy inside, with a hot tub and sunny private patio outside, and an upstairs balcony.
The studio has hardwood floors, Oriental carpets, custom cabinets, and original artwork by nationally known artists. There is a built-in queen-size bed in an alcove downstairs, and the upstairs loft has two twin beds.
Arcata is a small university town located between Humboldt Bay and the Arcata Redwood Forest. The spectacular rocky seacoasts, beaches, and forests of Redwood National Park are just to the north. The beautiful clear rivers of the Six Rivers National Forest are both north and south.
Our studio is five blocks west of Redwood Park, three blocks south of Humboldt State University, and six blocks from the Arcata Plaza.
Redwood forests, concerts, restaurants, and movies are all a pleasant walk away. The university brings major entertainment acts for reasonable prices and no parking problems, from Ray Charles to the Tokyo String Quartet.
Arcata has many community events, from the Oyster Festival, to bird watching gatherings, and a lively Saturday Farmer's Market. The Marsh Ponds are world famous for bird watching, and the Community Forest has miles of wild and remote hiking trails.

Why the Owner Chose Arcata
Arcata is a lively university town, with Humboldt State bringing through great music and theater shows. There are coffee shops with poetry readings and local music, Brio Bakery with fresh baked goodies on plaza, and it's close to Redwood National Park with beautiful hiking trails through the redwoods. If you take scenic highway 299 east, you can enjoy the sunshine on the Trinity River, and whitewater rafting.
The Unique Benefits at this Studio
This home has beautiful hardwood floors and custom hardwood cabinets. The kitchen is fully stocked for your family to cook good food, with fresh produce from the Farmer's market, or grocery store only 4 blocks away. It's only 7 blocks from the plaza, but is tucked back from the street and feels private and secluded. You can enjoy a hot tub in the back yard, surrounded by flowers.
Owner's Map of Arcata
This tasteful home was designed by Ann, and was her first vacation rental. Over the years she expanded to a home on Maui, and another studio in Arcata.
Her daughters, Elly and Mary, have helped her design, furnish, decorate and manage her vacation homes. When not working on their vacation homes, they enjoy traveling, hiking, backpacking, and rafting.
Sharing their vacation homes has been a rewarding experience, with interesting and lively guests from all over the world.

Dear Elly, Mary & Ann, We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your very comfortable, well equipped, and beautiful home – it’s the only way to go! We had a very pleasant 5 day vacation – we saw more of the area than our past – so we thank you for allowing us to use it. The folks who rent it for next year’s Humboldt Graduation will be pleased. The weather was gorgeous when we were there in May. If we’re ever heading up to Arcata we will certainly book another week!

Hi Elly, We had a great time; Didn't explore as much as we thought we would. Spent more time with the family and doing a lot of cooking and eating. The kitchen in the studio was so nice to cook in, everything was there, nothing was left out. Thank you for making it so nice. My son was so impressed with all the woodwork in the studio. He has just finished building his house so he is really into wood and windows and all the things that made your place so nice. Thank you so much, I hope we can come back again.

Ann, Thank you. For the Daphne bushes, the hot tub, the fresh flowers indoors, the comfy window bed (many of which have inspired ideas for our own addition.) Above all, thank you for sharing the peaceful environment you’ve created here.

Hi guys, We arrived at the Arcata studio late this afternoon and are just delighted with the place. So many thoughtful and unexpected touches! We're relaxing with a bottle of wine and listening to Mozart while our four year old son Jason plays with his wooden trains on the rug in front of us. Very nice. Thanks for providing such wonderful accommodations... Cheers!

There are so many wonderful things to see and do on the North Coast, but your vacation home is a destination in itself. We found so much to do right there, just hanging out at the house, enjoying the spectacular view and garden. The location was perfect for visiting the University town of Arcata. There is a great selection of restaurants and entertainment. Then it was just a short trip north to explore the beautiful beaches and redwood groves of Redwood National Park. The care you take of your home shows in the attractive décor and spotless cleaning. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home with us!
