We had 13 people from IL, IN, & IA (6 adults and 7 kids; 9 and under) meet here for a couple nights. We had so much fun! This was our first VRBO experience, and we were thrilled with how well it worked! We went sledding down the driveway with the kids and played hockey and baseball in the heated shop. We had a fire going most of the time in the living room and enjoyed sitting in the many spacious areas, enjoying each others company. We even used the hot tub one evening while it was -3 out, what an asset to have!! The kids loved playing on the heated tile floor in the sun room while meals were prepared in the over sized kitchen. The owners have thought of everything! They have plenty of coat hooks by the door and benches in the bedrooms so you can put your suitcase up. Extra towels are provided and plenty of essentials are available for use in the kitchen. Overall we had a great time, and we hope to come back!! Thanks again!

Great Property!! Fun Times!!
Great Property!! Fun Times!!
We had a great time at the property!! We ended up having 14 people in attendance and there was plenty of room for us all!! We had a blast w/ the hot tub, sledding down some hills, shooting some pool, and roaming around the property!! The photos accurately reflect the rental's appearance, and the kitchen was stocked full of anything you would need for cooking!! Our group enjoyed being outdoors, even though it was cold outside!! We were able to go skiing nearby and also check out downtown La Crosse, which was only about 20-25min. away!! Joel was super helpful and even called to make sure everything was going well and if we needed anything!! I was also impressed that when we got there, the driveway was plowed even though it snowed a few inches and were in a winter weather advisory shortly before we came. So with that said, great customer service and great property!! I would recommend this property to anyone!! We were a group of guys and gals ages 22-35 and we loved it!! We look forward to booking another trip when there is no snow so that we can experience everything else the property has to offer!! Two thumbs up!! Thanks for everything!!

Girls Craft weekend
Girls Craft weekend
We had such a great time and plenty of room for the ten of us girls. We all brought our crafts and had a great weekend. We ate good and got a lot done. We went sledding and used the hot tub, we also tried snow shoeing and hiked a little. The little one loved the heated floor in the sun room.

Just enjoyed a lovely 3 days at this beautiful property. Families from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois all met her for our annual get together. We had a blast hiking the property, sledding, enjoying a snowy bonfire and hot tub, and just hanging out. The valley that this property is situated on is absolutely gorgeous. The property is spacious and accomodating. The house was exactly what we needed, plenty of place to play games, eat, sleep and relax. Very clean and cozy. If you want shopping, LaCrosse is just 30 minutes away. We hope to be back again very soon as I know it would be breathtaking in the summer and fall as well!

A wonderful Thanksgiving!
A wonderful Thanksgiving!
We just returned from a a wonderful family gathering over Thanksgiving. Nine of us fit beautifully into the house with more than enough room to spread out. We used the fire pit, played cards up in the silo room, and explored some of the property during our stay. Probably our favorite activity was the personal farm tour that Joel gave the family. He took time out of his busy schedule to give us a tour of his organic family farm. We would definately recommend this property and the wonderful owners!

Guys Weekend (15 guys) was a great time on the farm!
Guys Weekend (15 guys) was a great time on the farm!
We have a group of guys who like to spend a late Fall weekend playing games outside, making chili, watching sports and listening to music. The Romance Valley Retreat was a perfect place to all this and more. Lots of beds to sleep in, amazing amount of room to run around, pool table and hot tub were great too. All the guys agreed that we'd love to return next year, and/or bring the wives and kids sometime for another great weekend.

Had a great time using this rental for our family reunion. The added sunroom provided the extra space needed for our group of 13. The fireplace felt good on a cold October evening, and they provided all the wood needed so we did not run out. Would not hesitate to come back sometime in the future.

Describing Joel as accommodating would be a massive understatement. He made sure it was clear that anything we needed would be available for us, and that he was more than happy to help us with anything we would possibly need. The house was gorgeous, cozy, and spacious. The yard was fantastic, and the hot tub was an absolute hit. The grill was used every day, usually multiple times, and we never ran out of supplies for anything. The location is pristine, and provided an easy outlet to food and entertainment. A simple 10 minute drive landed us in town, with everything we could need. Overall, the stay was amazing. The only complaint we had was the weather- it got pretty hot, but this obviously has no reflection on the property itself. I would gladly rate our trip 6/5 if possible. My buddies and I will certainly be coming back up for another stay this summer!

Just returned from a terrific weekend at this property. Can't say enough about the location and property as a whole. Seven friends and I have spent the last 6 years on a long weekend and always use VRBO to find a location. This property provided us with everything we needed and then some. Having 8 beds was wonderful as no one needed to sleep on a sofa or the floor. Joel went above and beyond as host by contacting the local cable company on Saturday morning to secure extra channels for us to view football games. We found the local communities very inviting and full of friendly people. The silo proved a unique place to play cards and enjoy some laughs. I would recommend this property to anyone.

This was a great vacation for our family. The accommodation was perfect for three families with young children. We enjoyed the large living room and the all-season room. We ate our meals comfortably around the table the hot tub was an added bonus. Walking in the stream was fun and we even caught some trout. Thanks for the pleasant and relaxing vacation

About the owner: Joel & Jenny Goede have 3 children and live just a few miles down the road from Romance. Joel and his father run an organic family farm and raise laying hens and pigs. They also have beef cows, miniature horses and rabbits. Joel & Jenny purchased the Romance Valley Retreat in 2013 to give the farming operation a little more organic land to farm and to share this great place with others.
Why the Owner Chose Viroqua:
This property is special for many reasons. The first would be the great scenery. You don't have to look long to spot a flock of turkeys, a herd of deer or a bald eagle flying about. High ridge tops and a great stream or river at the bottom of every valley. Most people born in this area never leave! The farm also has great opportunities for hunting and other outdoor activites. Whether you like four-wheeling or snowmobiling, skiing or hiking, this farm accomodates all. There is a great viewing room that sits on top of a barn silo that offers a spectacular view of the valley. This property also is great for family events. We have hosted many graduations, family reunions and large groups on weekend getaways. The 2000 Sq ft heated shed is free to use for any of these events. The shed offers a concrete floor and great lighting right next to the trout stream. The shed also is a good place for the kids to play in on rainy days.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Ask about the opportunity to tour our family farm. Joel, Jenny and the rest of the Goede Family welcomes you to the Goede Acres farm tour. The tour can range from a short look around the farm to an all day in-depth experience! We will talk about everything that has to do with modern organic farming. We will look at the equipment used along with what we feed our animals to keep them healthy and comfortable. This isn't a hobby farm. It is a productive family farm with 10,000 laying hens, about 35 sows and all of their babies. We also have herd of beef cows that graze pasture and miniature horses to pet. If you are interested in learning exactly where your food comes from and how it is grown, this tour is a must. If you want to, you are welcome to help the family pick the eggs or feed the sows. Maybe if you're lucky you'll be able to see first hand the birth of a dozen piglets from one sow. There is an additional fee for the farm tour to cover costs. Please contact us to learn more.
