Healdsburg house description
This home has been our center of relaxation and refuge. The furnishings and amenities were carefully selected to create a stylish and comfortable retreat for ourselves and our friends.
The house enters into a contemporary dining area with travertine natural stone floors, with the living room to the right presenting tasteful local art housed within a cathedral ceiling and bay windows. The kitchen is equipped for those who enjoy the modern conveniences of cooking. It looks out on a 900 square foot deck with sun shades, lounges and a dining area. Entertaining is easy, whether a summer barbeque on the deck or a winter gathering around the dining room table, there is ample seating for a large group.
The three-bedroom, two-bath house sits on a cul-de-sac at the end of a quiet street. The backyard gives out onto a public path leading to the Russian River and has open views of Fitch Mountain, the river, and a neighboring park-like area with manicured lawn and mature trees. Both front and back yards have well maintained gardens and soft, grassy play areas perfect for bocce ball and for kids to play.
As the river is only a few steps away, wildlife is abundant; relax on the deck for a minute or two and you are sure to experience it, along with the view of passing kayaks and canoes. For the more active visitor, Badger Park a few blocks away has a great play structure for kids and a good jogging track. At the end of the street, the Healdsburg Golf Club (Taymon Park), is a municipal golf course with nine holes and a driving range. Visits to renowned wineries by car or bike just a few short minutes from the house are another great option to explore the area and broaden your education about the outstanding local wines.
Less than a mile away, Healdsburg is a lively town, accustomed to welcoming visitors while maintaining the charm of a close-knit community. In any season there are options for daytime activities like antiquing, kayaking, ballooning, and biking. In the evening, the town offers a variety of options, with fine restaurants, movies, and live music. In this place, even a stroll around the historic town square with an ice cream cone is magical.

Relax in wine country
Relax in wine country
My wife, young children and I spent 5 days in Healdsburg, at this house which is at the very end of a quiet street. The kids slept in bunk beds in the kids room and we stayed in the master bedroom. There is also another guest bedroom that we did not use. The house is well maintained and is very comfortable to come back to after a fun day exploring the area. We walked into town several times and enjoyed the great food and wine around the town square. You can also walk through the back gate and hike along a short trail to the river. The kids loved it! The owner of the property was very gracious and responsive. We'd like to go back again in the future. I highly recommend this property for families or groups of friends who want to relax in wine country.

Beautiful home - Exactly as described
Beautiful home - Exactly as described
The description here is exactly what we experienced. We relaxed on the back deck with the view of the river, birds chirping, the sun was hot but we were pleasantly cool under the sailcloth shades. We had such a great weekend in Healdsburg and felt like local residents coming home to this quiet residential area. The neighbors are friendly. The interior of the home is elegent and comfortable. We enjoyed family dinners in the formal dining room as well as the back porch tables. Our kids liked the bunk beds and playing on the soft grass in the front yard. The master bedroom has a great wide tub and spa-like wide shower head in the separate shower. My husband loves to cook and was delighted by the quality of the sharp knives, pots, and pans. Don't miss the Farmer's market on Saturday during the summer - it made our weekend!

About the owner: Scott is native to San Rafael and Tracy is from Portland, Oregon. Together, they reside in Mill Valley with their son Matthew. They have used Healdsburg as an escape for the family to relax, regroup and decompress in the beautiful Sonoma County. They enjoy the lifestyle in Sonoma County which is a little more relaxed than Marin and locals seem to have a little more time on their hands to enjoy life! The family spends most of their time outdoors and they enjoy hiking, biking, tennis, swimming, fishing and birding. Healdsburg offers along with many facets of the Russian River for both recreational and nature watching.
Why the Owner Chose Healdsburg:
Being such a close proximity from Mill Valley, they can drive up to Healdsburg and be walking down to the river within an hour. The world class wineries and excellent locally grown organic foods were a major draw. Healdsburg is on the forefront for self-sustaining agriculture and farming. Restaurant chefs have the absolute best ingredients at their fingertips and can and do create the most amazing dishes. Most restaurants even have their own gardens to take advantage of the excellent produce which can be grown in the region. This big city sophistication along with the small town feel has been amazing and probably will be the reason Scott and Tracy will retire in Healdsburg.
