Punaluu condo description
The newly remodeled vacation condo (Spring 2013) ‘Hale Luana' (pronounced ha-lay loo-ah-nah) is located in Punalu'u on Oahu's North Shore. In Hawaiian, it means 'house of leisure, to enjoy pleasant surroundings, to enjoy oneself, relax, and be content'. This is not Waikiki!
This bright, open and airy fully furnished and equipped beachfront condo will provide you with comfort and convenience during your Hawaiian Holiday.
The fully appointed kitchen has all new stainless steel appliances, beautiful cherry wood cabinets and granite counter tops. It is fully equipped...all you need is your food! The unit also has a new washer/dryer for your convenience.
The newly remodeled full bathroom has a shower/tub combination accented with a Hawaiian touch to give you the feeling of the tropics.
The sleeping area has a queen size bed with new linens and is separate from the kitchen and living area.
Additionally, there is a new queen size sofa/sleeper in the living area with a memory foam mattress, as well as HD Cable TV with Music Channels and DVD/CD player. There are some DVDs, CDs, books, magazines, board games, and binoculars for whale watching.
Snorkeling gear, beach chairs, beach umbrella, boogie boards and picnic supplies are also provided.
And if you must stay connected to the outside world, free WiFi is provided.
Enjoy spectacular sunrises and 180 degree ocean views from the lanai, which also overlooks the park-like grounds and sparkling swimming pool. The lanai is the perfect place to start your day with a fresh cup of Kona Coffee or Herbal Tea enjoying the sunrise and gentle ocean breezes. You might even catch a glimpse of the occasional sea turtle, Hawaiian Monk Seal, or whale greeting the day.
Clear evenings bring the glistening moon light over the water.
Hale Luana is located in the legendary 'Pat's at Punalu'u', reminiscent of the earlier days of Hawaii Five-0. This is the “other side of the island…the “real Hawai’i”. The garden-like grounds and expansive grassy areas are spotted with shady palm trees and fragrant plumeria trees. Picnic tables and lounge chairs are provided for your relaxation.
The pool area has chairs and umbrellas. The property also has a small, beachfront fitness room. There is a BBQ area for your use, as well. The complex features 24/7 security, 2 elevators, and designated parking.
Pat's at Punalu'u Condominium is a totally Smoke Free Complex, but does have designated smoking areas away from the main building.
We are local owners so we will be here to make sure your stay is everything you want and expect it to be. You are always welcome to contact us if needed!
If for some reason we cannot accommodate your schedule, we will do our utmost to help you find a similar vacation rental in the immediate area.

About a 45 minute drive from Honolulu International Airport, this vacation rental is perfect for anyone looking for the “real” Hawaii experience! *********************************** Close by, there are quaint shops and fresh food stands (including the local Kahuku shrimp trucks… you MUST try this shrimp), and just a 20 min. drive away is the famous North Shore surf town of Hale’iwa, which boasts some of the best dining, shopping, art galleries and activities on the island. *********************************** Oahu’s North Shore has something for everyone... from families with small - or big - children, adventurers and thrill-seekers, those simply in need of some R&R, or couples celebrating a romantic event like a honeymoon or anniversary. The North Shore is world-renowned for its surfing and hosts the Triple Crown, the world’s top surfing competition in November and December at Sunset Beach and Banzai Pipeline, just 15 min. away. There is fantastic snorkeling, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, shark cage diving, wind and kite surfing, and all kinds of other activities to enjoy. And for the golf enthusiasts, the world famous Palmer and Fazio golf courses at Turtle Bay, just 20 minutes away. *********************************** Although a rental car is strongly recommended for this location, there are several little grocery and sundries shops within a 5 min. walk and the property is located on the bus line. The condo is equipped with a beautiful 65 page visitors’ directory of things to do and places to go to help you plan your ultimate Hawaiian experience. Of course, steps from the unit is miles of white sand beach for snorkeling, swimming, fishing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and exploring. *********************************** An hour away, in the city of Honolulu, Waikiki has beaches and streets lined with high-end resorts, restaurants, shopping and dining. Don't forget to stop and get your picture with the Duke Kahanamoku statue. His arms are draped with flower leis and there is a webcam focused on him so you can wave to your friends in real time. Pearl Harbor is a popular sightseeing destination, and the Arizona Memorial is a worthwhile visit, 45 min. away. **************************************** If you choose to stay 'close to home', Punalu'u, Hale'iwa and the entire North Shore have more than enough to satisfy and entertain. Marvelous condo and wonderful owners
Marvelous condo and wonderful owners
I can’t think of enough synonyms of the word “amazing” to describe this condo rental. Our family of four arrived near midnight after a long day of travel to discover a warm and welcoming place. The lights were lit and windows were opened so that when we first walked in, we were able to hear the waves on the beach below. That pretty much set up the tone of our entire stay. The bed and sofa bed were very comfortable and clean with extra pillows and beddings in the closet. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook, including utensils, pots & pans, oil, salt, pepper and some spices. Of course, the condo’s proximity to some food trucks, local eateries and stores made it easy for us to just drive to either buy food or buy ingredients. The beach itself was great. The condo had snorkeling gears and boogie boards for us to use. Just beyond the beach was a reef (I think) that had turtles and lots of fishes. Waves were calm and the beach is sandy. If it weren’t for the fact that we had already bought tickets to multiple sight-seeing events around the island, we would have been happy to spend our time lazing around the condo, beach and pool. We woke up early one morning, on the advice of fellow tourists in the complex, to see the turtles that rest right on the beach! We saw only one but that was because we went when it was near sunrise. But that such a great sight so we were happy. Also, Richard and Gayle (the owners) were so nice and accommodating when with our schedule. They checked in with us to make sure we were settling in okay and if we needed anything. That was above and beyond the spirit of Hawaii. Overall, when I have a chance to visit Oahu again, Hale Luana will be the place that my family and I want to return to. Mahalo, Richard and Gayle, for a wonderful time!!

We had a very nice stay in this condo. We found the unit clean and updated, just as advertised. There was a personal note to us from the owners. They had also left us a basket of fresh local fruits since this our 25th anniversary trip. What an awesome touch! The owners thought of everything, they even had postcards with stamps already on them! There was a beach bag, snorkeling gear, plenty of dishes, even a set of dishes and silverware packed for the barbeque area! The sleeping area was too noisy to sleep in, due to road traffic; but we just moved to the very comfortable sofa sleeper in the living room. We loved sleeping there, with the door cracked open to listen to the surf. How awesome is that? Although the building is older, Pat's at Punaluu is an up-and-coming place to stay. The building had a fresh coat of paint, and the pool was in perfect shape. We look forward to seeing what will be upgraded next! It was encouraging to see that the owners are updating. They were laying new tile outside the elevators while we were there, it was fun to watch their progress. We also enjoyed watching palm trees get trimmed. Those guys are brave, swinging from tree to tree! We would recommend this unit for those people who want to get away from the hustle and bustle. It was very relaxing. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Owner response: Thanks so much for the kind and gracious review. We are so happy you had a memorable 25th Anniversary at Hale Luana and Pat's. I hope the weather wasn't too much of a shock when you returned to Alaska. We are so grateful to have such kind and considerate people as you stay with us. We also appreciate how well you took care of Hale Luana while there. We would be pleased if you come back to visit again. Mahalo, and have a great Holiday Season.

I booked this place based off the reviews and location and it did not disappoint. We loved snorkeling right in front of the apartment! As well as eating on the balcony and waking up to the ocean. The owner is very easy to communicate with and has a sincere interest in making sure his guests have a good time and enjoy the place. We accidentally broke the coffee pot to a very nice coffee machine. We offered to replace it, but he said not to worry about it. This type of response is unheard of in NYC! I highly recommend this place if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. I will be sending friends there.

Owner response: Thank you for your kind and gracious comments. What a pleasure it is for us to have caring and considerate people like you visit our beautiful island retreat. Our goal is and has been for our guests to have a stress free, relaxing getaway, if even for a short time. We are glad you enjoyed 'Hale Luana'. Please come back again. Mahalo
My girlfriend and I reserved this condo about two months prior arrival and Richard was very helpful helping us book the stay; he was clear about the fees and kept everything upfront and quick to respond. The condo was very clean, neat and very much accommodating! The first day we had a minor issue with the coffee maker so contacted the housekeeper (which Richard had provided us the contact # with) and even though it was later in the evening she went out of her way to help us out and get us a different coffee maker. Amazing! Richard and his wife thought of everything when it comes to the condo; from kitchen accessories to laundry and entertainment! You can’t beat the view, sunrise are beautiful! we traveled all around the island including north shore and we simply did not find a better place to compare to ‘Hale Luana’ the beach is secluded and not crowded and the current is very calm which make up for amazing snorkeling, we even spotted a 5 ft turtle right off the beach close to sunset. We tried to snorkel at Turtle bay but the current was simply too strong and there were a lot of rocks. We also used the futon in the living room and we fell asleep listening to the ocean. I have stayed in other condos in Cocoa beach, Vegas, Daytona Beach and other Islands and this has been by far the most accommodating and relaxing condo I’ve stayed at and for such good price. When you stay here make sure you check out the papa ole restaurant down in laie (10 min North) or the shrimp shack (about 4 min south) they are both have great local food. Also, sacred falls entrance is within walking distance but you didn't read that ;) Thank you Richard and Gayle for letting us stay at your condo and for thinking of everything! Mahalo! Mel & Ivan.

A week in paradise
A week in paradise
The best place we've ever stayed in Hawaii! We have 2 kids (3+7 years old) and we're usually on the go on our vacations, but we spent the first 3 days at the condo, because we just couldn't get away! Our 3 year-old conquered her fear of water and learned how to swim there, because the ocean in front of the condo is so warm and gentle. There are beautiful reefs to snorkel and the owners provide snorkel equipment for adults and kids! The condo itself is perfect and fully equipped and the owners are super nice and ready to help out. Loved it and highly recommend it!

This is a lovely Condo. The view of the beach and ocean is picturesque, and if you wake up early in the morning you can see the beautiful sunrise. The place had everything we needed and was very clean and tidy. The couch bed, which is folded out, was very comfortable. There are beach toys and equipment, which we also used, and there were lots of towels. If we return in the future, we would love to stay here again. Richard and Gayle were extremely nice and helpful with any queries we had.

Relaxing Anniversary in Paradise
Relaxing Anniversary in Paradise
Hale Luana was just as advertised and met all our expectations. We celebrated our 10th Anniversary here and could not have asked for a more relaxing location. With the beach being so calm and safe I (briefly) regretted leaving the children at home with Grandma; as they would have loved chasing the crabs. Sleeping to the sound of the waves and awaking each day to such beautiful sunrises was very refreshing. The location was very convenient to both the Laie Temple and the Polynesian Cultural Center which we loved. We enjoyed the convenience of snorkeling at the condo's beach, but with a bit of a drive, the snorkeling at Hanauma Bay was amazing (especially if you swim out to the deeper water beyond the crowds to where the coral is still alive). The coconut-macadamia shrimp at Kahuku Grill on the way back from the North Shore was also excellent. Thanks again to Richard and Gayle. We enjoyed our best anniversary so far in this relaxing and beautiful paradise. Mahalo.

Words can not express the beautiful view from our condo. The place has everything any family or couple needs. It is newly renovated and complies with all the amenities listed and more, very clean an A+. Perfect for relaxing away from the city and the best part the beach is private and SAFE, our 6 year old learned to swim, and we even saw turtles! About the owner: Hale Luana is owned and managed by the Roddy family of Honolulu, Hawaii. Starting off in Hawaii 40 years ago, we then lived all over, from the snowy Rocky Mountains in Colorado, to the Big Sky country of Montana, to the Sonoran Desert of Southwest Arizona. Hawaii is just one of those places that never leaves your heart so we came back, and now we enjoy four generations of our family all in one place. Here in Hawaii we have the 'Spirit of Aloha', meaning we care, give and share with joy. We enjoy Hale Luana for our own occasional personal use, but really want to share it with others so you, too, may have an unforgettable Hawaii experience!
Why the Owner Chose Punaluu:
It's not Waikiki... it's the OTHER side of the island! We kind of know every corner of the island of Oahu. When most people visit, all they see of Hawaii are the tourist destinations and crowded Waikiki. Just like rural Maui, Kauai or the Big Island, Oahu has so many wonderful, hidden gems, destinations and activities in the area of the North Shore. It's no surprise that Oahu is by far, our favorite island and the beach at Hale Luana is our favorite beach!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Hale Luana is an 'out of the way getaway'. One step onto the lanai looking at that ocean and we were hooked! Everyone is friendly, and there are visitors from all over the world. Our smallest grand-kids love the beach because the waves are gentle and the sand is smooth. Our teenage grand-kids love the snorkeling, kayaking, swimming and exploring. Everyone loves fishing with grandpa and BBQ-ing in the evening. And it's perfect for alone time or couple's time. Remember, it's not Waikiki... this is the real island paradise!
