The cabin was wonderful. If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place for you. It was beautiful, the nearby stream was gorgeous, the and hot tub was a treat. It is a great place to reconnect with family or read or any other quiet activity. The gravel road along the stream makes a great place for a long walk. It is about 30-35 minutes to the nearest town with a full-size grocery store and other comforts, so prepare for a good amount of driving if you need to leave the cabin for just about anything. It was perfect for us though and I would highly recommend it!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Our family of 5 stayed at this beautiful cabin for Christmas and Ginger and Brad beautifully decorated the cabin for our boys, thank you so much for that. It is a definitly get away from it all with beautiful scenery and lots to do. Pictures dont do justice the cabin is beautifully built with absolutly amazing views, the trout stream travels all the way down the mountain and some. The sky and stars are breath taking without all the city lights to take away from it. We will definitly be returning and have found our home away from home. ginger thank you so much for the oatmeal raisen cookies those just happen to be our favorite :) It also snowed Yay!!! Very cute and clean home. It is beautifully decorated and the owners have provided many thoughtful items to make your stay as convenient as possible. They are very professional and easy to work with. Any questions we had about the property were quickly responded to. We were delighted to find a home baked treat the day we arrived. It felt as if we were staying in an aunt and uncle's home. They went out of their way to come say hello and see if there was anything we needed. The layout is really great. We never felt cramped even with eight people in the house. It was perfect for us to stay with our little ones upstairs. Everyone slept comfortably downstairs. Our only negative to this wonderful house was that the mattresses upstairs are lumpy. All eight of us sat perfectly at the dining table. There is also a back porch with a picnic table which we used many times. It rained a couple of the days we were there and it was nice to sit on the porch and listen to the creek roaring below. Every night we pulled up chairs and sat around the fire pit. The first drive in is a little intimidating because the location is remote but it seems much easier after the first time. Take whatever you may need because driving into town takes a little while. The area is green and lush with vegetation. You cannot see the creek very well from the house but it is very close, just a walk down the driveway. We enjoyed the creek, fished and took long walks every day during our stay. Our boys had a ball running around exploring and we felt safe enough to let them. You are not in an area that is going to have much if any traffic and no steep mountain drop -offs. We did see trout in the creek. There are many places to fish and hike in the area. Snowbird Creek is close by and is great fishing. We enjoyed the Cherohala Skyway, Joyce Kilmer Forest, and Lake Santeetlah. We ate at two of the restaurants in town (Phillips and Lynn's) and they were better than expected. The grocery store in town had everything we needed. The Nantahala area is a little drive but very beautiful with a lot of kayaking and rafting sites. We also drove into Cherokee on our last day. It is a great area if you plan to do many outdoor activities or just want to get away from it all. It is not a place to go expecting to shop or go into town a lot. You do have to carry out your own trash, which is common in mountain homes and the dumpster site is not far away. We loved our stay and definitely look forward to returning.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway, people with disabilities.

We stayed here the wknd of Jan27-29th while hiking with some friends in the area. The cabin was very nice and as described. It is a great place to get away from it all and relax listening to the stream. The owners were very helpful with any of our needs. This cabin is very convenient to the Joyce Kilmer and Snowbird wilderness areas. There are no stores or restaurants near so bring your food and drink with you.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

A beautiful cabin in the woods, hiking the logging roads, exploring the streams, and just getting away from everything (the lack of cell service and distance to town helped with that a lot) made for a perfect vacation for us. We will certainly be back again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

My wife and I just spent our 30th anniversay there. The sound of the stream was just lovely and we felt relaxed an very pleased with the whole visit. Not at all related to the cabing but we went mostly to see nearby Joyce Kilmer Forest and were devastated by the death of the hemlocks. So terribly sad. We'd been there a dozen years before and the loss of all those 400 year old trees was most distressing. Back to the cabin, the owners were great, the place was perfect and spotless. Excellent communication, no exhorbitant cleaning fees. Since we were only there for two days and left the place clean it was nice not have to worry about the outrageous cleaning fees some owners hit you with. Close to lots of outdoor activities (but bring your own DVDs or CDs for entertainment). We very strongly recommend this property for anyone wanting some time away. Just great.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

The cabin itself is well built, clean, light and airy. It looks and feels like a log cabin, lots of wood, but the kitchen and baths are modern and comfortable. I wouldn't describe it as a luxury type construction, no marble floors or chandeliers, but nice. Even a remote control gas fireplace! If you crave wood fires, there is a firepit. The cabin is on a hill above the creek, so you hear it more than see it. We visited in Feb so with no leaves we could see down to the creek, but with foliage I doubt you could. This place is very secluded quite a ways down little roads that eventually turn to gravel. The gravel road continues down a ways (makes a nice walk). There are other houses/cabins nearby, but not on top of this one. The remoteness would make it difficult to go out for dinner every night. We brought in groceries for the weekend and didn't start the car until we left. If you like to go out and shop or try local restaurants, this may not be the place for you. But for laying around reading or soaking in the hot tub looking up at the stars, this is as good as it gets. I fished in the creek some, but the weather was a little too cool for that. In the summer I believe the creek would be good for kids to tube. It's big enough to float on but not a raging river. My wife and I have been here twice, alone, and it makes an awesome couples weekend. But we intend to bring our kids and another family in the summer and enjoy the creek. The gravel road looks great for bicycles and the area around the cabin has a lot of exploration potential that we didn't touch. Summary: Great place to get away, but someone needs to cook meals. For cooking, reasonable pots/pans etc and every small utensil you can imagine (whisks, bottle openers, etc). Nice dishes. So you can prepare and have a nice meal not eating off plastic plates. The cabin is remote, but there are houses in view in winter (maybe 2?). In summer you are probably completely screened. I'm excited about bringing our 3 and 5 yr old. They will have fun in the creek and will be pumped by excursions up the gravel road and into the woods. This is not Gatlinburg go shop and visit the museum stuff, however. And I guess if you want big master baths with garden tubs the cabin may be under that. But we had every single thing we needed, including books to read. Don't forget charcoal for the grill. You may want a vehicle with a little clearance, 4 wheel drive isn't needed, but leave the Corvette.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We met two other couples there to enjoy a week together. I can't say enough good things! If you like to be away from civilization and enjoy the quiet around you--except for the sound of the beautiful stream, it is perfect. The cabin itself had everything we could need. The kitchen was great for cooking inside, and the grill by the back porch was large enough for all of us with chairs for all of us to sit and talk while we grilled. The cabin was cozy and so well done--with so many little personal touches. It was hard to decide whether to walk by the stream or sit on the deck and rock! We took Brad's advice and rented a pontoon on the lake--really fun. We also enjoyed Fontana Dam and the Cheola Skyway drive and walks. But, the best part of seeing the area was walking in the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest--too amazing for words. Thanks Brad and Ginger for the homemade goodies and for all your help. I'd actually like to go back and explore more--sometimes we didn't want to leave the cabin! If you want a little larger place, their Lodge looks equally as beautiful and private. I can't think of anything that was missing from the cabin or the area or Brad and Ginger's help.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
