Playa Las Tortugas (Turtle Beach) villa description
'Villa Las Mañanitas at Playa Las Tortugas is your quiet oasis on miles of palm-lined sea turtle nesting beach north of Puerto Vallarta. It is one of 12 unique residences for rent at Playa las Tortugas.
“The next morning, about 15 miles down the coast, I find my Shangri-La, the place I could recommend without reservation or caveat. I almost miss it as I vacillate about whether to follow a dirt road because of a sign that simply states Playa Las Tortugas.” The Washington Post.
Take a stroll on the pristine sandy beach that goes on as far as the eye can see.
Experience indescribable sunsets and watch a formation of pelicans fly just over the wave tops, or see whales breach and dolphins play practically in your vast front yard.
Paddle by canoe or kayak through the tidal mangrove estuary to see multitudes of tropical birds endemic to this beautiful state.
Have a relaxing and intense massage under the palapa by our talented massage therapist. Take in the aroma of blooming plumeria and just....relax.
Make yourself at home in the gourmet kitchen and prepare fresh fish for dinner purchased from the fisherman on the beach. You might also canoe to Platanitos for sarandeado style barbecued fish, or fresh shrimp cooked over a mesquite grill. Even better, enjoy a traditional meal prepared by our wonderful cook.
Our villa features three large bedrooms. Each bedroom has super quiet air conditioning, DVD and satellite television. The master patio has a magnificent view overlooking the ocean and yard filled with tropical plants. The third bedroom is attached to the house, but with a private entrance and ensuite bathroom with tub and shower. Relax with a wonderful candlelight bubble bath. The surf and stars will lull you to sleep each night.
Our living area is furnished in tropical furniture with eclectic art work from all over the world that enhances the feeling of peace and tranquility at our villa. The dining area is outside on the terrace overlooking the pool and the ocean. The gourmet kitchen features a dishwasher, side by side refrigerator with icemaker and numerous small appliances.
Our pool area features a fountain and casita bar complete with sink and refrigerator, including glassware and dishes for entertaining. View the Pacific Ocean from the infinity edge of the pool while surrounded by palms and lush tropical vegetation. You may want to have a soak in the hot tub while watching the sunset.
Enjoy the magic of our corner of the world. Mi casa es tu casa!
The entire state of Nayarit area enjoys one of the most favorable climates in the world. Average daily year-round temperatures range from highs of 80-85 degrees (perfect beach weather) to lows of 60-70 degrees (perfect sleeping weather). Swim year round, but consider packing a light sweater for the evenings in the winter months. Rain, when it falls, generally occurs between June and September as night-time or pre-dawn thundershowers.
You can visit small typical Mexican villages, enjoy fresh fish and other local seafood at small rustic beachfront restaurants, tour a tropical river and waterfalls, see historic San Blas, and drive up through the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains to colonial Tepic where crafts of the Huichol Indians are found.
Playa Las Tortugas has kilometers of uncrowded, clean sand beach, and a number of activities both on property and nearby such as Surfing, Wave Kayaking, Boogie Boarding, Fishing, and Shelling, Canoeing, Whale Watching, Bird Watching, Walking or Running on Miles of Sand Beach, and Sea Turtle Conservation activities (during season) at the Sea Turtle Conservation Camp. Frequently there is one festival or another in small towns within an hour of our location. There are a number of excursions you might take, with or without a guide.
Playa Las Tortugas is located on a section of coastline which is nesting habitat of several species of sea turtle in the beautiful state of Nayarit, Mexico 70 miles north of the Puerto Vallarta (PVR) International Airport and about 50 miles west of Tepic, the colonial capital of Nayarit.
We are happy to arrange transportation for you in our private shuttle, you may rent a car and drive your self which a large number of our guests do, or if you'd like to be more adventurous you may decide to come by bus and local taxi. We can send you details on the numerous car rental companies, or instructions on which buses and local taxis to take. It's quite easy to find your way from the Puerto Vallarta International Airport to Playa Las Tortugas, and the roads are normally well-maintained. Your valid driver's license is accepted in Mexico, and the driving rules are virtually the same as most countries. Write us for a copy of detailed driving instructions and a map. Your scenic drive north from the airport takes less than 2 hours and goes through areas of old-growth jungle and coastal hills.
Your vacation place in the sun on miles of tropical beach awaits!'

Fantastic, laid back vacation
Fantastic, laid back vacation
We had a really, really good experience at Playa Las Tortugas. The house was gorgeous, the staff were super helpful, the location is a dream, and we will definitely be booking here again. From the time we booked until we left everyone answered questions and helped us make our vacation perfect. We were travelling with 2 infants and a toddler, and they provided a play pen and high chair. The beach is secluded, as is the house. Playa Las Tortugas is perfect if you want to relax, though there are some nice towns nearby, there is so much to do right at the house there is no need to leave. The only warning I will give is to bring bug repelent. The noseeums were in full force during our stay (March), and their little bites left us all itchy.

A Slice of Paradise
A Slice of Paradise
My girlfriend and I stayed at this amazing home for a week and both say that is by far the best vacation we have had in 5 years together. Being on a relatively private stretch of beach 5 miles long, you can feel very much alone in this place, but the service from the staff reminds you that these are very much 5 star accommodations. Because this home has it's own private pool, we never ventured to the community pool, but understand that during the winter there are regular afternoon gatherings. The Groundskeeper arrived each morning to tend to the pool, the patios, and the garden, keeping everything outside pristine, and even brought fresh coconuts for us upon request. the housekeeper not only provides daily cleaning service, but also the meals if you request them, and I suggest you do. Her chile rellanos are spectacular! The ocean is warm and clear and although the waves were small, I even got a couple of surf sessions in. The nearest Village is Platinitos, just around the point and is accessible by car (the longest route) by Kayak, or by swimming across the estuary (easy, two minutes) and walking up the road on the other side. there are plenty of little restaurants on the beach and vendors for souvenirs. I suggest bringing a dry bag for the trip to keep anything dry that you will need. San Blas is a great town for shooping and exploring life in Mexico outside the hustle and bustle of busy Vallarta. It's about a one hour trip North. We are home 2 days and already talking about going back, maybe even bringing friends... Maybe!

Do Not Stay at Playa Las Tortugas
Do Not Stay at Playa Las Tortugas
Paid for a 10 day stay. 2 days in the power went out. We were without power, had limited water and limited use of the toilet for more than 18 hours. We left the next day at the advice of on-site management and they will not refund any portion of our money. Now they are claiming that none of this ever happened. The house is in disrepair. It is difficult to open/close all exterior doors and windows. The refridgerator shocked us everytime we touched it. There are bugs and ants everywhere. Upon our arrival, we found rodent feces on the bedspread. We have stayed in various tropical places and have never encountered conditions this poor. You are not allowed to use the washer, there is not a telephone and the internet was not working while we were there. There are no activities or villages within walking distance, we were told otherwise. To top it all off, they deducted a "payment processing fee" from our refundable deposit. As if they didn't already have enough of our money. Stay anywhere else, it will be money well spent and you will be treated much better.

My Partner, our 2 young sons and our good friend and the boys Godmother just returned from our 1 week stay at this amazing home. We have never been so relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed the perfect set-up this home offers with the pool and beach so close by. We felt we were staying on a remote private island at a luxuriously appointed home. We highly recommend having the cooking service which all meals were excellent. The staff was very gracious and made us feel completely at home. We are very much looking forward to returning to this very special home.

We've traveled Mexico extensively and have to say, although we love everywhere we've gone, this is the only trip where we would do everything the same. Due in large part to the accomadations. This home is beyond words. I highly, highly recommend employing the cooks. The food was delicious and so convienent. It's a very relaxing enviroment with still plenty to do. This is not a touristy area. You will not experience a cliche mexico experience. Your memories will be full of true culture, beauty, and appriciation. I can't forget to mention the beach because it was a worry for me- fabulous! The sand is darker but great for long walks and big sandcastles! The ocean serves up some perfect waves for surfing! Even remembering all this seem to perfect to be real but it was- for once. It truely was unforgettable. We hope to return soon!

Our best vacation so far! we have traveled all over the world looking for that special place, a place where you can forget the daily routine, relax, re-charge and enjoy family time. We found it! An enchanting place surrounded by nature, green on one side with the view of the mountains and bright blue on the other with the gorgeous uninterrupted view of miles of ocean and sky. This place is magnificent! if you want to have a relaxed vacation where you can find yourself again, feel that your soul is being cleaned by the best views and deep nature sounds, this is the place. It will be unforgetable!

It has been 3 months now since our family stayed at Las Mananitas and how we yearn to go back. We were the first guests to enjoy this beautiful home and pristine beach and I must say it was the most relaxing, carefree, and enjoyable Christmas vacation we have ever experienced. There are plenty of area attractions but we didn't need to go anywhere. Las Mananitas provided everything we needed in a vacation. We were so pampered! The delicious and authentic meals were prepared by absolutely lovely cooks. My husband has been attempting to match their good tastes with some success. No more Tex-Mex for us!! I very much look forward to our return to this lovely villa.
