Why the Owner Chose Government Camp

In the 1940's there were several hotels to accommodate mountain lovers, but fires took these old hotels, and they were not rebuilt. This created an increasing need for short term housing for ski enthusiasts so we purchased this special location condo on the creek to entertain family and friends, and share with people like you, wanting a home-away-from-home.

The Unique Benefits at this Condominium

Owner's Map of Government Camp

Our family has lived here in the ski resort village of Government Camp on Mt. Hood's south side in the snow zone, since the 1930's. My grandfather moved here with the family for the clean air because he had asthma. Our family had a restaurant called Hills Place then, home of the Jucy Jumbo Burger. Over the years there were 2 orphaned bears, Cubby and Teddy who attracted tourists passing thru the area as they could purchase a soda pop and photograph the bear as well as the mountain. The restaurant burned in the late 1960's as was not rebuilt. My Mom was a ski racer & an olympic contender in the 1940's but tragically broke her leg & finished the race in the olympic trials. She became a certified ski instructor...#8...and was co-founder and first president of the women's competitive ski club called Skiyente in the 1950's. In the 1960's she purchased Govt. Camp Water Co. Inc. and still runs the company today. The water is cold and clean, and originates from an underground aquifer on Mt. Hood. You do not need to bring bottled water here...just bring bottles and take some home with you!
We purchased this condo on the creek to share with family & friends and welcome you, our guests, to the place we love and call home.

    • My huband, our two teen-age sons and I recently stayed at this beautiful and very roomy condo. We have stayed at other units on the premises and have to say without doubt that Lesli's condo is our new favorite! It's in a perfect location, and I really appreciated the high-end appliances and cookware! It made our stay feel so at home.

The kitchen is well stocked if you are putting together your own meals. A cozy gas fireplace and especially comfortable sofas. Quiet, lovely wooded view with creek outside front windows. Great big jacuzzi just a short walk away. Excellent location to all 3 major ski areas - Timberline, Hood and Ski Bowl. We will be back!!
