Another Great Vacation in Puerto Rico

We just returned from another wonderful VRBO vacation (1/20/2012 - 1/23/2012) in Puerto Rico and once again we were extremely happy with everything about our rental. We were immediately in contact with Haydee the second we were off the plane and she was waiting in the apartment when we arrived. She gave us a quick overview and answered our questions and then we were off and running. The apartment is perfectly located to everything Old San Juan has to offer. First business was to buy groceries and some Don-Q. Within a 5 minute walk, located at La Plaza de Armas there is a SuperMax which has everything you would need for your stay. We also heard that there is a new Farmers Market that has just started in the city as well. The apartment has a nice living/dining area, full kitchen (everything in working order), bath room and bedroom. The bedroom is air-conditioned although we never needed to turn it on the breeze was so nice. The shower had plenty of hot water, you just have to be patient and give it a minute to get up to temperature. The apartment also has two European style balconies with full length doors that open. There is nothing like waking up, making your own espresso and sitting on the balcony watching the city come to life. During our trip we ate at El Convento, Rosa de Triana, Raices, Old Harbour Brewery, and Caficultura. The El Convento has a great atmosphere, Rosa de Triana a great Falmenco show, an The Old Harbour Brewery was the best place to watch the Patriots win the AFC Championship. Caficultura had great Skirt Steak roll-ups and is a nice place to people watch. At night, on the streets surrounding the apartment, there is live music and plenty of food carts, so take advantage of the location and just wander about. Then sit on the balcony and be glad your home and not sitting in the crazy traffic as the festivities let out. The apartment is basically triple gated to get in and out of so safety was never an issue. Although even walking about the city, we never felt our safety was threatened in any way. In conclusion, Diana and I would like to thank our host Haydee for opening her apartment up for us and you can be sure that we will contact you the next time we stay in Old San Juan. GREAT VALUE - Wonderful Stay

My wife and I really enjoyed our four night stay at this condo - it was charming and relaxing. A great location to explore Old San Juan. This condo is a corner unit on the second floor and is constantly refreshed by an ocean breeze. The couch is quite comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom are very well stocked with necessities and towels. The bed is very comfortable and the a/c in the bedroom kept us very cool at night. The drugstore and grocery were just a couple of blocks away. We usually ate breakfast and lunch in the condo and treated ourselves to some great restaurants in the evening. Since this place is so close to the Cruise Ship terminal, we would buddy up with some crusie passengers around 9:0am for some great adventures like El Yunque Rainforest. In addition, the condo is extremely secure. Overall, this was a GREAT VALUE.

Great location Great value

If you are staying in San Juan, you definitely want to stay in Old San Juan and this apartment offers both a good location and good value. As mentioned in the other review, the property had both an outer gate and another locked gate to enter the building, plus double locks on the door, so we felt secure. We also noticed many police on the street. There is a free trolley just around the corner that will take you all around the old city and another trolley that will take you up to El Morro. All the restaurants and night life are within walking distance so leave your car either in front of the building or in the parking lot (overnight costs about $5.00) as you do not want to drive espcically on the weekends. Traffic and parking are terrible. The apartment is fully equipped and there is a SuperMax supermarket at the Plaza des Armas where you can purchase food, wine, etc. and is open to at least 10PM. Two things that I would advise you to consider that I did not learn until after my stay: first, be sure to test the hot water before taking a shower and let the landlord know if it's not hot enough. Evidently most apartments, and even hotels, can control the water temperature so don't take cold showers if you do not have to. Second, people in Puerto Rico like to play their music really loud and really late. I do not know if this was because our stay was 2 weeks before Christmas but on Saturday night we could hear the loud music on the Paseo de Princessa way after 1AM. The only other comment is that this owner may have more than one apartment in this complex as the view from the apartment we stayed in was over the parking lot and not as shown in the pictures.

Owner response:As soon I read this review I coordinate with an electricist to repair the in line water heater,( I had no idea until I read the review). The water was not hot enough.I appreciate the advise . Regarding the photos , every photo has a description and respond to reality, and some indicate places "near" the condo..

Excellent Vacation Spot

This apartment is in a secure builiding which was important since I was a single traveling female. It was within walking distance of restaurants, mueseums, the forts (castles), basically everything you could need. The apartment itself was clean and had everything you could need. The pictures really don't do justice to the surroundings - one day there was a Celebrity cruise ship in port and I could see it clearly from the balconette! The owner was great! She provided maps, activity suggestions and called during the week to make sure everything was okay. I'd definitely recommend this property.
