Manuel Antonio house description
Casa Voladora sits on a cliff overlooking Punta Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park. It is a 10-15 minute walk to Playa Espadilla and 15-20 to Playa Biesanz. Playa Espadilla is great for surfing and body boarding while Playa Biesanz is more protected and better for snorkeling and swimming.
The house was designed by an award-winning architect to bring the area’s natural beauty right into the house. There are breathtaking views from every window and terrace. A tropical forest surrounds the back of the house providing privacy and a front row seat to Costa Rica’s exotic plants and wildlife.
The house has one private bedroom on the second floor and is best suitable for a couple, although the downstairs daybed is suitable to sleep one more person. It is an intimate and romantic setting with several private terraces, including one in the master bedroom. The architect designed the house in a European style. It is simple and elegant in its construction and furnishings. The house is mostly suitable for those who do not require lavish amenities, as there is no TV or air-conditioning. You will find however, that air conditioning is not necessary as the house sits on the top of a ridge and enjoys a constant fresh ocean breeze. Numerous windows and ceiling fans also provide for excellent ventilation.
Casa Voladora is a place to relax and appreciate Costa Rica’s natural beauty. In the morning you will awaken to the exotic songs of rainforest birds and the sounds of the rolling waves of the sea below. Occasionally you will hear howler monkeys in the distance (sometimes not so distant) giving their morning salutations. Often there are toucans in the palm trees around the house. If you’re lucky you might even see white-faced monkeys, squirrel monkeys or sloths dangling and jumping from the trees around the house. There are identification cards in the house as well so you will know what type of animal you are viewing - from mammals to birds to amphibians to butterflies. You can have your morning coffee on the terrace and enjoy the fresh breeze as you take in the spectacular view of Manuel Antonio and Playa Espadilla. It is a short ten-to fifteen minute walk downhill to Espadilla Beach below the houses and an additional twenty minute walk along the beach to Manuel Antonio and the road to the national park.
The kitchen is equipped with a microwave oven, toaster oven, refrigerator, coffee-maker, and all plates, pots, pans, utensils, etc. The house has a telephone in the living room area. There is one full bathroom and also an outside secluded shower. There is hot water throughout the house, including the outside shower. Sheets and towels will be changed once each full week of your stay. This can be done more often upon request. There are plenty of towels for showering and larger beach towels for outside use.
The houses are gay and family friendly and the owners and caretakers welcome everyone to enjoy the property.
Please note that the house sits on a ridge and is only accessible by a series of 128 steps leading from the parking area up to the house. This can make it a moderate physical endeavor. As such, it might not be the best choice for people who are physically restricted. The walk up the stairs, however, is rewarding as it provides you with the fantastic view on top. There is an electric elevator basket that runs up the side of the hill the to the houses, but it was constructed to carry luggage and supplies only. The caretaker will take charge of getting all of your luggage to the house. You need only take your body up the stairs. The steepness of the terrain, the stairs (outside and inside the house), and the high balconies and terraces may make the house unsafe for children under a certain age.
Manuel Antonio National Park is one of Costa Rica 's best known and most often visited parks. The area is home to over 353 species of birds. Howler and white-faced monkeys, two-toed and three-toed sloths, coati-mundi and raccoons frequent the beaches in and outside the Park.
The National Park area offers some of the best beaches on Costa Rica 's Pacific coast for surfing, swimming and snorkeling. Within the area, there is much to enjoy; bird watching, hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, and boat trips for fishing or to watch dolphins.
Located besides the town of Quepos in the Central Pacific Zone, the area is one of the most beautiful in Costa Rica.

We had a wonderful vacation in this beautiful house. Once up the stairs to the house, we had a very peaceful place to enjoy incredible views and to be surrounded by Costa Rican wildlife. We were regularly entertained by groups of monkeys, sloths and colourful birds in the trees right outside the house. We saw much more wildlife from our rental house then we did in Manuel Antonio National Park! We would highly recommend this vacation rental to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in a beautiful country- you just have to be able to manage a long flight of stairs to the house. It's great exercise though!

Wonderful Honeymoon Week in Costa Rica!
Wonderful Honeymoon Week in Costa Rica!
The house is amazing! We rented a car to get here, and it was quite easy (w/ GPS). The home has views of both Manuel Antonio beach and Biesanz beach making for wonderful sunsets. A grocery is a 10 minute walk away to load up with drink, snacks, an meals. The caretaker of the property is extremely nice and helpful in gettting any tourism trips scheduled with the local companies. He was also very patient with my broken spanish. The house was very clean, and stays comfortable with the windows and doors open (no A/C). If you are looking for loca flora and fauna, this property has many different species of flora in the beautiful gardens and monkeys, sloths, lizards, toucans and other varieties of birds. Walking to the beach is no problem, Just be ready for a walk back up the hill on your way back. There are many great local restaurants with fresh caught tuna and mahi mahi prepared anyway you want, and most of them have a great patio for watching the sunset. I highly recommend this vacation property if you are looking to be secluded in paradise, but still have walking access to all the amenities of tours, pools, restaurants, etc. Just to note - you may not enjoy this as much as my wife and I did if you have trouble with stairs.

Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
We stayed four nights at Casa Voladora and had the most amazing time. Not only is the house affordable compared to the surrounding hotels, but it's also beautiful and so much more quiet, and peaceful. I went with my boyfriend, and we felt like we were in our own private paradise. Woke up to spectacular views, fell asleep to the sound of geckos chirping. Love the outdoor shower, the expansive ocean views, lounging on the giant window seat, eating breakfast on the big front deck, post-beach rinse in the outdoor shower, and spotting monkeys and birds galore in the trees. We're already thinking of coming again sometime soon! I recommend this rental to anyone looking for a relaxing tropical experience.
