Enjoy wonderful views of the Olympic Mountains, shipping lanes, Useless Bay, Sunlight Beach and Double Bluff from our 2300 square foot, hillside home. Short walk (3 mins) on the wetlands boardwalk to get to beach area.

Bring your beach shoes to explore miles of sandy beach and tide pools at low tide (some shell/gravel/muddy areas, but mostly sand). At high-tide use the grassy community area for water access or launching your kayak.
The house has a large yard and an awning to provide cool shade while enjoying the view and relaxing outside. The family room is stocked with games and puzzles, some videos and DVDs as well as a wood burning fireplace. Two bedrooms each have a Queen bed. The huge third bedroom (24x20ft) has 1 Double, a Twin (with Trundle), a set of bunk beds and a racing car bed! It makes a great kids playroom too.
The entire house was re-painted October 2008 inside and out.
Quick access by car to Clinton Ferry, Langley, Freeland and the backroads of South Whidbey Island. Very peaceful. 20 mins to Coupeville and 30 to Oak Harbor and Naval Air Station.
We now offer free early check-in and late check-out (when availability permits) to make full use of ALL your days on the island and avoid the peak-time ferry lines.

Wow, we had an amazing mini vacation! Less that an hour from our home in North Seattle. We went with another family - so 4 Adults / 5 Kids. We visited the beach every day at least once - just a short walk. When the tide is out you can walk quite a ways out. BBQ and firepit for cooking smores. House is quite big, well stocked, plenty of beds, entertainment (movies, games) and great internet connection. Spent one afternoon in Langley - where we got ice-cream for the kids and walked along the water. Adults went to Coupeville one night for dinner - short 20min drive - excellent, very well priced meal. Our final day we took advantage of the late check-out and drove up to Fort Casey, for yet another gorgeous, sunny day. When we returned home we felt very well rested as if we had really gotten away. This is one where we hope to return.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

Beautiful view of Useless Bay! Walk to beach. Convenient to everything - grocery, dining, gas. Really enjoyed our stay and hope to return some day!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.

As described, this is a spacious house with plenty of beds. Our troupe of eight was able to spread out, relax and enjoy our vacation. The owners have provided a stock of board games, toys, and movies for kids, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Easy access to the beach allowed for several adventures hunting shells, rocks, and watching wildlife. Would definitely rent again!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Thank you so much for the great extended weekend at your house! The house was well stocked with everything we could think of! There was plenty of room in the house (we had two couples and a dog!) We had a great time- walks on the beach, a seafood feast, wine tasting at several small wineries/wine shops on the island, board games and much more! I recommend this rental- great value and excellent property. The owners are pleasant and reponsive to work with. Wonderful home, Great Location. The house was perfect, I have a family of 6 and it held all of us plus we had 3 extra beds. Great for large families,three minute walk to the beach and shopping close by. The sites are beautiful. We had an enjoyable stay with extended family at this vacation rental over Spring Break. The house was as shown on the site. We appreciated the many "extras" - lots of linens, towels, well-stocked kitchen, games, etc. The house was in a good location very close to the beach with great views and large living spaces. We had four kids in age from 7 - 14 and there was plenty to do at the house and in the area. Whidbey Island offers a great beach experience as well as having some fun towns and parks to explore. We ate at a local pizza place in Langley that we enjoyed and had coffee and cinnamon buns at a charming restaurant in Coupeville. The kids enjoyed a trip to the Fort. All in all, a wonderful time!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We stayed in this house for two weeks in January. It was so enjoyable! Plenty of room, clean, quiet, well stocked kitchen, fenced yard for the dog. The view is awesome! Lots to do - even in the middle of winter - sightseeing, walks on the beach, dog park, South Whidbey State Park, Double Bluff, shopping, dining out and in, visiting with family and friends, watching ships and wind surfers and eagles... We would definitely rent again.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

I brought my 5 year old daughter and my 9 year old lab with me to stay here for a week. We had family and friends come visit part of the time and the house was big enough for everyone. The house was well appointed with all that you could ever need. Lots of kids movies, toys, games and a great front yard (fenced) that my dog loved to lay on when we were outside sitting in the sun. Everything was very clean and the adirondack chairs were great to pull out and lay on the yard to sit in the sun and play games. The kids bedroom was a hit with a "car" bed, bunk beds and twin beds and a double bed all in one big room. When my nieces came up everyone got to choose a bed - they had a blast! I will definately rent again!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Just had to leave a note, commenting on what a great time we had in this house. The house itself is very well appointed: the kitchen is well stocked, plenty of kids toys, good movies, lots of beach towels & toys. It made the stay very relaxing. This is by far the best set-up house we have rented. And the location is perfect... centrally located, easy drive to Langley, Coupeville, Ft. Casey. We are definitely planning on booking again! We spent a weekend with our friends at the house. What a great Get-Away weekend we had! The neighborhood is really quite and the view is spectacular. We had great time on the beach too. Walking on the lower tide and even caught several razor clams. The house is really roomy and had plenty of space for us. A short drive to nearby towns like Langley is very enjoyable. On top of everything, it is only 10 minutes drive to the ferry terminal. The house is perfect to have a get-away and a short quiet vacation. About the owner: We fell in love with this area of Whidbey Island some years ago when we stayed in hotels and other rentals. On one trip we spent some time driving around admiring the views and some of the houses. When we saw this property for sale, Bingo! We knew we wanted a place of our own here overlooking Useless Bay and Double Bluff. We plan to retire here, but meantime we love to visit and want to share the joy of this area with others.
Why the Owner Chose Useless Bay:
You really get the feeling that you're 'away from it all' here, it's very quiet (we sleep so well), but there's lots to do too. The beach is so much fun to explore and the low tide goes so far out you feel you could walk forever. The views and sunsets are gorgeous, especially when the clouds roll out to reveal the Olympic Mountains in the distance. The surrounding area has some great restaurants, some quaint towns and yet it's quick to get back to the mainland if you time the ferries right. Wi-Fi provided.

We rarely do back-to-back bookings so most of the time we offer early check-in and late check-out so that you can enjoy a full day on your arrival and departure. Not only that, it means you can take the ferry out of peak hours and avoid any waiting at the dock. No rushing to pack on your departure morning while the cleaner is at the door. Relax! Take your time!
The weather is always sunnier/drier than Seattle just 30 miles away. We've often heard our Seattle friends tell us 'what a drizzly weekend we're having', while we're sitting outside in dry and balmy weather.
This is a full-size 3-bedroom home, not a cramped cabin, and has a big yard too.
