First of all, Scott is very easy to deal with. We were flying standby so everything was very last minute and he worked it out. That part is priceless.
Now I will write the review that I wish someone else had written. NONE of what I'm writing are deal-breakers, but these are the things I wish I'd known before agreeing to 10 nights at this apartment.
First of all, the location is perfect. To wake up and see the lagoon below will be amazing!
It's far from Willemstad, but if you're interested in going to the good beaches then you want to be on this end. If you're more interested in going to the museums, shopping or restaurant selection, then stay closer to the city.
Bring water shoes!
This apartment is bare bones.
They supply the first roll of toilet paper and first little bit of dish soap and hand soap (enough for about 2 days), but after that you're on your own. There's a grill, but it's missing parts and finding charcoal on the island may be difficult and expensive, even if you figure out a way to jimmyrig the grill. There's a George Foreman grill (works well) but there really isn't a way to clean it. The kitchen sink does not have hot water, so you'll need to heat water on the stove to wash dishes. Rather than regular chairs at the kitchen table, you'll have to use the large plastic wicker chairs (meant to be part of an outdoor set) at the table, which are the wrong height for the table. You can fit 3 chairs at the kitchen table. You'll probably want to sit outside for meals, and luckily there's a plastic set on the downstairs patio, too, but it's a very narrow space so really only 2 (possibly 3?) can sit at that table. The nicer patio is upstairs but has no table. There is no cutting board in the kitchen, no guide books about Curacao (just some free pamphlets), no games, no deck of cards, no shampoo, no soap, no conditioner. The apartment is extremely warm even though there's a wonderful breeze outside; I can't be certain of why it's so difficult to get the air moving in there but I think it's because the position of the other duplex basically blocks the breeze. The upstairs air conditioner does work very well, but the downstairs unit does. The back porch light wasn't working and the gate remote was acting up. The caretaker lives nearby and is very sweet. She came once during our stay and brought fresh linens and swept.
Again, there are no major problems, just things that are nice to know ahead."
