"We decided to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday with 2 other families in Mexico. We had heard the fishing in this area was great, and searched for a house that would comfortably fit 16 people. Casa Alvarado was a very special place and the owners/staff made our trip extremely memorable. This lovely home is off the beaten path and highly recommend for families/groups that want a retreat where they can unwind and escape the hectic daily routine. A two hour ride from Los Cabos airport, you arrive to a welcoming staff who will shop ahead of time which I recommend as the house is fairly remote. There is a small and lovely hotel nearby in case you need something, and the staff is willing to shop and bring ice/beer/food if you run out.
I usually don't take time to write reviews, but this a special house and group of people who look after it. They go out of their way to make your trip easy, comfortable and fun. One night they cooked local Mexican food, special birthday cake and arranged for a Mariachi band to celebrate the 50th birthday.
The house has a lovely pool, lots of pool and ocean toys, EXCELLENT snokeling rignt off the beach and of course great fishing. They will help you arrange pangas or larger boats to fish for Rooster, Dirado, Snapper, Marlin... Of the 3 days we fished, never a shut out :-)
Thank you to the wonderful owners and staff of this lovely home. If you are looking for a great escape where family and friends truly connect and spend time together away from it all, this is the place."

"First of all, the location in this spawling community is A-1. And, check-in is a breeze. The home is across the street from the hotel and its amenities, yet a two minute walk from the Founder's Pool, and five minute strut to the Wine Bar (which also serves small plates all priced at 55 pesos or the equivalent of $4.50 at this time). The Founder's Pool is immaculate, well lanscaped and sparkling. It's served by cheerful Pedro, who operates the nearby deli. He will bring you seriously amazing guac/chips and drinks at half the cost of the hotel. We were in heaven.
Admittedly we were there after the major snowbird season, but I imagine in full season, well behaved kids and floaties are fine in supervised doses at the Founder's Pool -- but the nearby hotel offers more accommodation for this, as well as other kids.
Jane's place is terrific for families, or really, for any group. The public spaces are arranged off the immaculate verdant courtyard with bubbling fountain. There are two bedrooms downstairs on the ground floor and one bedroom on the second level, with sunning deck and covered outdoor barbeque kitchen. The third level is an observation deck with views of the golf course and sea. It is truly a special place. Jane has thought of everything a week stay might require. (except if you're laundering your beachclothes, bring laundry detergent to fuel her stacked washer/dryer combo!) It was fabulous to come home with a suitcase full of clean clothes!
If you have never been to Loreto, you will need need to rely on the orientation binder Jane provides with everything from restaurants to medical emergency info, which is good and updated. But Ramon, the property manager can help with more specific queries. Email him the night before and you will have an answer in the morning.
In retrospect, I'd advise to pre-order the groceries for at least the first 24 hours, something we did not do. Yes, there's a surcharge, but I can imagine arriving with a food/drinks as a comfort. Jane can help you with that.
The place is a gem.

"From the amazing service on the easy Alaskan Airlines flight from LA, to going through customs in less than 10 minutes in Loreto, to the friendly cab driver, this vacation was perfect from start to finish. The home was clean, comfortable, and fully equipped. The Snorkeling at Nopola rock just steps from the front door is something I'll always treasure. The water is the perfect temperature, there are amazing, tropical fish galore, and the views are spectacular. The people were all so friendly, I felt very safe, and getting around Loreto was easy - although there's enough to do within walking distance that you really don't ever need to leave the neighborhood. Cruising around on the golf cart made me feel like I was on fantasy island. We ate at the wine bar, were served drinks and food by the pool, and watched falling stars on the roof-top terrace at night. Some of the other highlights were taking a boat to Coronado island for an intimate lunch at Picazon, swimming in the three different pools on the property, hiking up the rock to watch the sunset, and taking walks on the beach. I highly recommend staying here!"

"Our group had a wonderfull time with Lloyd and Marti. They have managed to build a true "off-grid" retreat with something for everyone!!! The pool and jacuzzi, right on the beach, was fantastic, and kept our 11 year old (non-ocean minded) child entertained for hours!!!! That comes in handy when the surf comes up for us surfers. The beach is very clean, and our walks and swims were a real joy.
The pool side breakfasts were incredible, especially all the fresh fruit!!! I still can't get over that Marti ans Lloyd grow their own pineapple!!!
Marti and Lloyd have a real, and very contagious, love for animals. We all loved meeting their various loving and ever so friendly "family" members and look forward to another visit soon."
