  • Majestic Scenery

"If you are looking for a house that is close to everything, but which still feels private and serene this is definitely the place for you. There are spectacular views of the Ventana foothills, and the house is at the top of the "hill." The house is built into the landscape in such a way that you have great views of the Arizona scenery from the many decks and patios. It is a place where you can just sit outside and enjoy the quiet. Our children enjoyed spending time in the pool. It is 4 1/2 feet deep, so someone always had to be in the pool with the nine-year old, as he could not touch the bottom and would get tired of treading water. There is a built in bench area along one side where he could stand or sit. There are noodles and pool floats at the house for use by the renters, which was a big help. Our older son particularly enjoyed swimming laps. The nine-year old usually prefers showers - but he also enjoyed "swimming" in the large jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom. Although he (and the rest of us) did enjoy the large shower with the dual heads and built in bench in the master. The owner was very attentive to our questions and was a gracious host. He has set the rental up in such a way that it feels luxurious, but is also practical. The blu-ray player in the house is set up so you can stream movies from your Amazon Prime account - which we took advantage of. He even provided savings cards for the local grocery stores. We tend to play games as a family on vacation and the one thing the house is missing is games that more than two people can play together. Overall, we were very pleased with the rental and would highly recommend it."

  • Four avid Canadian mtn bikers 'struck it rich' with this home!

"We were looking for a classic adobe style home in Tucson and certainly found the perfect example in this property. The location was convenient to Tucson, but set off in the north west part just far enough to have a really nice 'acreage' feel. If you like mountain biking, the Sweetwater Trail system for biking and hiking was just 10 min away. This home's roof-top patio was exceptional for morning breakfasts, coffee and reading, and in the evening for a glass of wine and star gazing. My wife and I really enjoyed the guest suite which was attached via a covered walkway from the main house. We will come back 'in a heartbeat'!"

  • a welcome retreat

"A last-minute change of plans led us on a hunt for a condo in Tucson for 9 days. We were very happy to find John and Lisa's guest house, at the back of their large property, north of the bustle of the city center. We spent our time enjoying the many activities Tucson offers, and always felt welcomed back to the guest house. Everything was as advertised in the writeup, and we used most of the amenities, including the barbecue by the pool. The kitchen is a bit small if you want to do a lot of cooking, which we did; that is the reason for the 4-star rating (we would have given 4.5 stars if that option were available). We will certainly keep this location in mind for future trips to Tucson."

  • Among the Best!

"My wife and I spent a month in this lovely and comfortable Vacation Rental. We could not have been more pleased. It was everything advertised and more! The Casita is beautifully furnished with an abundance of space for relaxing and, as my wife and I are fond of cooking together, the kitchen had plenty of surfaces for two people to be involved in food preparation without getting in each others way, sharp knives (not always found in similar rentals), and provided a fully equipped kitchen with quality appliances. A small library was available along with very helpful books about the southwest, birds and animals native to the area. Among the first impressions we had when arriving, was of the very thoughtful decorating touches that spoke of a sincere warmth and welcome to this home. The outside space was expansive with two patios, one just off the house and the other just a short walk along a well-designed pathway bordered by lighting in the evening. Both patios afforded spectacular views of the Santa Catalina Mountains. We could not get enough of the gentle wash of sunrise and sunset colors bathing the mountains daily. Another pathway led down a gentle slope to the fenced neighboring horse ranch. A swing provided space for quiet and relaxed viewing of the horses. The location provided a secure sense of privacy as the Casita sits on a large lot in a quiet neighbourhood of similar lot sizes. It is within walking distance of a trail leading into the Sabino Canyon Recreation Area and a short drive to the East Saguaro National Park and to Mt. Lemmon. For hikers like us, this was a perfect location. As well, there are a number of restaurants, grocery stores, art galleries and other shopping conveniences nearby. The city center of Tucson and the University area are easily accessible and we took advantage of all the city has to offer many times during our stay. The owners, Ro and Dave, provided an assortment of pamphlets and brochures on the many opportunities of this area and were always available and genuinely responsive to the slightest question or request. Even before we arrived, knowing that we were interested in spending a good amount of time hiking, they had provided us with information about several of their favorite hikes as well as links on the web for other information. This Vacation Rental felt like home from the moment we arrived, and we are very thankful to have had the opportunity to spend a month in this home."
