  • Beautiful Hideaway in the Rainforest

"Fern Grotto lives up to its name! Surrounded by rain forest trees and flowers, with huge windows looking out, it is a great place to stay if you want to be equi-distant from Hilo, Volcanoes National Park and Puna. The owners have provided many small touches that make it easy to stay here, from umbrellas to sun lotion to beach chairs. After several days on the road, we especially appreciated the washing machine underneath the house and the drying lines. The owners also live nearby and are available for advice or to help with problems. The unit is also beautifully decorated and a joy to be in. Very comfortable seating. There were just a few glitches that could be problems for some travelers. 1) the frogs do like to "sing" at night. Even earplugs were supplied so this wasn't much of a problem and some people will like the frogs very much. 2) the wi-fi is pretty weak. It wasn't crucial for us, but if you need to keep up with work while there, it could be a major problem. 3) the one small touch missing was a good coffee maker! In the heart of the Kona coffee area this seemed strange. There was only a very small French press and an old aluminum camp-stove percolator pot. No need for an electric maker, but a Chemex or larger French press would have been much nicer. Overall, this is a lovely place from which to visit the area, with gracious hosts and a one-of-a-kind setting."

  • Don't even hesitate, book now!

"We stayed 4 nights in the house and would have loved staying longer. The place is clean, the bed is comfortable, the bathroom is great and the kitchen is fully furnished; it was like being at home. The pictures do not properly show how big it is. There is also a hot tub from which you can stargaze at night. It is ideally located to visit the Volcanoes National Park. Bonnie and David provided us with a lot of useful tips, maps, menus of local restaurants, etc. They are very friendly people. We really felt the aloha spirit. We’ve travelled for 3 weeks around the Hawaiian Islands, and stayed in multiple places, but this one is clearly the best. If we come back to Hawaii, we would love to stay here again."

  • Hidden Away

"Hard to believe that one can be so remote on an Island. We liked being out in the woods.... very relaxing... Just go with it and get supplies while your out so you don't have to keep going out. We were all over this side of the island....Hiking Lava, snorkeling.....Had fish and vegetables from local markets....Farmers market in Hilo was great... Very friendly people... be respectful...This is their home don't act Californian or "uppity" ....this is a way different experience than the Resort / Luau experience.... If you need all that stuff and you can't be open to the local people stay at the resorts....this is different and adventurous.... the cottage was great... we had fresh fish and food every night......Frog symphony all night ( I liked it) .....wild chickens walk around and roosters will go off in the morning sometimes right out the door sometimes far off... I was up at 5 am anyway ... didn't want to miss the day......"

"This is my first time staying at a bed and breakfast. The food and company were beyond my expectations. Daryl and Leslie are amazing people. I thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay. If we ever get back to the big island this place will be on our list to return. Also miss Scooter and Peachy"

Mountain View Travel Tips

We could all use a nice little getaway from our real lives. Just a few days of relaxing in the sun, doing a little hiking and maybe even stay in a secluded area where no one can bother you.

Mountain View Vacation Homes Has Lots to Offer

Enjoy a Hawaiian getaway by staying at one of the Mountain View vacation homes Mountain View Chalet has to offer. The spacious log cabins were built in 2008 and sit on a resort not to far from the Pocono Mountains. Talk about amazing views. The Mountain View lodging is surrounded by more than 5,000 acres of the Blue Mountains.

Mountain View vacation homes are at the bottom of some of the most popular ski slopes. Don't enjoy being out on the slopes? That's OK, because there are a ton of activities you can still do. You can go on a nice hike, relax at one of the many different lakes, do some laps in the pool, go horseback riding, go for a nice long bike ride or get pampered at the spa. These are just a few amenities you can enjoy while staying at Big Island vacation rentals

On-Site and Off-Site Amenities

There are plenty of activities to do outside your Mountain View lodging, which includes ice skating, trying your luck at the casinos, going to an amusement park or indoor waterpark if the weather is bad, not to mention all the shopping and restaurants the town has to offer.
