Sundance is a private eco-resort and the brainchild of actor Robert Redford. When the land was purchased, it contained a small ski resort with a single chair lift. It has since been developed as one of the premier ski destinations near Salt Lake City in Utah. Naturally, the star attraction has added to its appeal and it is a popular vacation destination in both the summer and winter seasons. Aside from the outdoor activities, the spa is a draw for guests to come and stay throughout the year. While there is no off-season at Sundance, the peak travel times are during December and January for the skiing, and in June and July, during the school vacation period.

Summer and Winter Activities at Sundance Vacation Houses

If you enjoy trails, there is no shortage of them at Sundance. Pack your backpack and head up into the hills for a day hike that will take you to a high altitude lookout point. From there, you can enjoy magnificent views over the valley. Mountain bikers can bring along their bikes or hire one from a local outfitter. There are trails to suit all levels of riding abilities. More advanced riders will enjoy the single-track forest trails that traverse the mountain slopes. Local outfitters have horseback riding excursions that take you to explore the beautiful countryside. The Provo River which flows through the valley is a favorite spot for trout fishing. If you enjoy paddling, you can join a kayak or whitewater rafting excursion in season. Golfers can take along their golf clubs and enjoy a round at one of the many top-class 18-hole golf courses in the vicinity of Sundance.

Towards the end of November, the snow starts to pack down sufficiently for skiers to head up the mountain. There are 41 different ski runs spread out over an area of 450 acres, providing excellent skiing for all levels and abilities. Recently, night skiing has been introduced on some of the slopes which means you can extend your time out on the slopes each day. The Cross Country Center is where you can get route maps and information on the cross country routes and trails in the area. Aside from the groomed ski trails, there are also separate snowshoe trails. This is backcountry snow fun at its best. Throughout the season, there are special events and training clinics available for guests.

Getting to Sundance Condos

Sundance is located just a short drive from Salt Lake City, Utah. It is easily accessible from Salt Lake City International Airport and transfers can be arranged upon request. Most people prefer to drive up to Sundance so they can explore some of the area while they are up there.
