"If you are looking for a true and traditional 'camp' experience on the lake with your family and friends, do not miss out on this rare experience at Barney Point. The location could not be better......it sits on a point with sweeping views of Lake Champlain. The house is large, cozy and just pretty amazing. You will find everything you need to prepare meals in the open kitchen and enjoy them out on an enormous dining table on the big screened porch overlooking the lake and property. Lazy cool mornings in the great room with a fire going....the best! This is a place that has been lovingly maintained with an effort to keep its original charm in tact. It feels like 'home' right away. My family was there for a week and did not want to leave. We will be back for sure!"

"This place is spectacular in the summer and fall. The screened in porch became my go-to spot to relax, enjoy the peaceful view and drink my coffee in the morning. The girls weekend where we enjoyed glasses of wine while sitting by a crackling fire also turned into a lively discussion about how our husbands could enjoy a private boat launch for fishing and guy-time. We are looking forward to a winter trip in the future so we can snowshoe and cross-country ski while enjoying the fireplace in the evenings. Close enough to all the scenic sites in Vermont while being rural enough to really get away and relax."

"I was there in late October with a group of women friends. We found the house to be spacious and comfortable. Decor was very pleasant. Plenty of seating areas both inside and out. Large, fenced yard for safety of children. Can walk or ride bike out the door as close to bike path. Plenty of sightseeing in the area. Only 6 minutes by car to large supermarket. "Camp" is a term used in Maine for a cottage. This wonderful house is more than a cottage....
I am not sure how late in the year, the house is rented. The house is not insulated and can get cold in spite of using the wood stove and propane heater. We happened to have a couple of very rainy, windy days. Being New Englanders, we knew how to dress for this kind of cool weather so it was not a problem for us."

"My family (wife, mother, stepfather, sister, Charlie our dog) and I had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful house at the end of August 2014. We had never been to this part of the U.S. It was a beautiful drive up from New York City. Coming from the south Isle La Motte is one of the more remote Champlain Islands and you have to cross multiple causeways. While the area is remote it is certainly not wilderness. On the other hand, it is not a place where you can drive a couple of miles and easily find a place to eat or buy groceries.
The house has a great layout and it is perfect for the type of family trip we imagined. The large 1st floor living space and the open kitchen make for a perfect shared experience. The house has all the necessities and more in abundance. It doesn't have cable TV. For some of us this was a surprise.
The property is right on the lake and going out on the deck and catching the breeze and the sun shining off the lake was a favorite thing to do. The deck was also the site for a memorable barbecue.
We did some fun things while there: renting kayaks and rowboats, hiking around the Mt. Stowe area (admittedly a bit of a drive), eating out at the local restaurants (good if not great cooking).
We were a bit disappointed by the lack of local farmer's markets and fresh produce, but perhaps, we didn't know where to go.
All in all, while the area didn't WOW us; our consensus was the house and its comforts were GREAT and for that reason I've given 5 stars."
