  • Relaxing at the River House

"The River House was everything we hoped for and so much more. Imagine waking to the sounds of birds and water flowing in the river right outside your door. Bring your food and enjoy communing with nature. The hot tub was great after a day tubing or hiking. The fire pit prompted stories and subsequent laughter. And the best part was watching our grandsons play and explore and not even miss their electronic devices! On the drive home, the boys said, "can we come back again next year?". Absolutely!"

  • A heavenly oasis by the river

"First I just want to say, this property is amazing! It is directly on the river and the deck is just fantastic for relaxing on. And just when you think the deck couldn't get any better ... there is a hot tub. An amazing, star viewing, relaxing hot tub. For the more active I should mention there are: lots of water craft (kayaks, canoes, etc), room to frolic to and fro, a fire pit, a dock for swimming (or jumping and and running away in the winter), and access to great areas for a morning jog. If all of this wasn't already enough to make you want to rent this fantastic property, just step inside and find the three luxurious bathrooms, marbled master bath, full dining room, updated appliances, and living room with all leather seating and flat screen tv. A+ would recommend."

  • Nice little weekend away

"The schoolhouse is a nice little home in the middle of the country, but a short (10 minute) drive to the closest town. We enjoyed our time at the schoolhouse, but were on the go most of the time we were in town. We spent most of our time in Natural Bridge enjoying the Safari Park, Zoo and Natural Bridge itself. It appears that a black widow has taken residence in the window outside the AC unit in the living room, so please be careful when you remove. I forgot to leave a note when we left on the counter about this. I will say I am not positive, but I believe there might be a spirit/ghost in the house. The first night, I thought my 16 yrd old daughter walk by the room as I saw a young girl throught the door jam go by, but come to find out she was in the living room still watching tv. The owners were great and answered any questions I had beforehand and were flexible with us arriving early. Thank you!"

  • Very Very Nice!

"We stayed here for a week and loved it. We had our family out here for a wedding and it was a perfect location to stay. The house is better than advertised and would stay here again definitely as it had everything you could imagine including great Wi-Fi and Netflix! Not to mention a very completely furnished kitchen. Everything was just spotless. Plenty of spacious room, nearby parking and lots to do and good places to eat in Winchester, VA, a historic town that changed hands over 70 times during the civil war. Owners are great to deal with and good communicators."
