Property was just what we needed to unwind and relax. Kitchen was well equipped, house was clean and provided all the comforts of home. Already planning the next trip. Thanks for a lovely stay.
This was the most relaxing stay we have found on VRBO. You will not be disappointed. Well stocked kitchen and the accommodations are perfect for family fun. The sights and sounds of the creek are amazing. The best long weekend getaway we can remember.
Great place with lots of amenties included. We had a great time with family and enjoyed the quiet and peaceful location. The creek behind the property is great to play and swim. The house was beautiful.
Spouse and I went to Bruces Bend cabin for a few days to relax and enjoy a different setting. We enjoyed fishing, birdwatching, hiking and relaxing. The cabin was so clean, well maintained, and a great river location. The beds were really comfortable and made for a restful night. We hope to visit again! Thanks for sharing your home.
Property is perfectly located on the creek, and exceptionally well stocked + maintained. Our family of 4 (kids 5 and 7) had an amazing time, and particularly enjoyed the fire pit, playground, and proximity to Roaring Run.
We booked this property to got to the west virginia state fair, and absolutely love the house! My son and I had a great time in the creek, and the Roaring Run loop/watering hole was amazing
Cant wait to return!
I recently stayed at Bruce's Bend on Craig Creek, and it was a fantastic experience. The cozy cabin was perfect for a quiet retreat, and the view from the deck was breathtaking. We loved having direct access to the creek for kayaking and fishing. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the surrounding hiking trails provided great outdoor adventures. It was a perfect blend of comfort and nature, making our stay truly memorable.
All i can say is WOW! What a beautiful home and location. The house is exceptional well equipped with everything you need. The setting right on craigs creek is amazing and peaceful. What a great get-away with family and friends. Highly recommend this venue and our host was most accommodating and communications were quick and helpful. Love, love, loved it !!
The location is beautiful! The hosts leave a s’more kit for you which was a wonder surprise. It rained almost everyday of our week stay but the couple of days of sunshine we had we enjoyed fishing and floating the creek. Would recommend for a low key change of pace summer vacation.
Property had something for all ages. The playground , fire pit , creek and screened in porch were all enjoyable. We enjoyed many hikes , caverns and Natural Bridge , but mainly coming back to this retreat was the highlight. We saw ducks, ate s’mores, and played Cornhole and made memories!
The house and grounds were amazing. We had two small children with us and they were enchanted. The creek flowed clear and cold, we canoed, swam and fished in it. The children played on their playground equipment, chased fire flies and roasted marshmallows. A day hike and a trip to the falls rounded out the trip. We look forward to returning.
A nice weekend away over the New Year to escape and recharge for the busy year ahead. We have stayed at this wonderful property a couple of times and will continue. Pictures to not do full credit to the scenic surroundings. Spotlessly clean and welcoming.
Our family had such a nice stay at Bruce’s Bend. The house had everything we needed and more. It was comfortable, clean, and quiet with plenty of room.
The screened in porch was our favorite spot to watch birds, play cards, eat and nap.
Outside, was great too - plenty of tubes and equipment for us to use and play in the water, a fire pit overlooking the creek, and plenty of nearby trails and roads to explore.
Property is excellent! Clean with just about everything you need. We brought alot of stuff we did not have to. We enjoyed the firepit and smores! Sitting on the enclosed porch listening to the river flow was utter bliss with a cup of coffee! We will definitely be back! Host were super helpful and responsive!
This was the first time I have used VRBO and it set high expectations for future vacations. The cabin was beautiful and had a little something for everyone to enjoy. We even got my grouchy father in law to love family games like UNO!!! This was a miracle by itself but seriously thank you for the memories and we hope to stay again next year!!!
Absolutely wonderful time in this beautiful home with a well appointed kitchen, plenty of places to relax and special touches throughout, and of course, Craig‘s Creek. The owners are quite responsive and helpful. We will definitely be back!

About the host
Hosted by David and Kimberly Bruce
We are the Bruce Family. David and Kimberly Bruce-the owners of Bruce's Bend. We have 3 children. David was raised just one mile from the property and is very familiar with and loves the area. I was born and raised in New jersey till 1999 when I moved to Virginia. We both love to hike and be outdoors. Our children also love to hike and do all the outdoor activities that we hope you get to enjoy when you visit. We look forward to meeting new people who share the same love of the area.
Why they chose this property
David grew up just a mile down the road from the property. He had visited this house and knew the prior owners and told them that if they ever wanted to sell to let him know. Fortunately for us, they decided to sell and contacted David about purchasing the house. We love the house and plan on retiring here. We have had to move for a job change at this point and thought why not let others enjoy our home while we cannot.
What makes this property unique
David was in love with the house from the first visit. The view from the couch gave the appearance that the creek flowed directly under the house. We absolutely love the screened in porch. We love sitting on the couch in the screened in porch and have our morning coffee. The house has many great points--firepit, creek view, big side yard, patio area, deck overlooking creek and much more. The screened in structure out front is the origional camp that still remains. It has a fireplace which is a good place to sit back and relax or hangout on a rainy day or evening.
