About this property

Beautiful barn conversion with private courtyard and pool.

Le Grand Juvet was originally built as the stud farm to the local Chateau and is a magnificent collection of stone buildings complete with tower. We live on site in the tower so are here to greet you and help with anything you need to make your holiday a great one, yet you have a the privacy of your own courtyard and pool. We have set out to provide spacious accommodation with peaceful, private outside space where we hope you will relax and enjoy the lovely scenery. If you can drag yourself away from the property we are in a great situation for exploring some stunning countryside. We have swimming lakes with beaches, numerous great walking and cycling trails, chateaux visits, local markets and our closest village has one of the best restaurants in the area.

The barn has 2 bedrooms , one en suite and a bathroom. Full fitted kitchen with plenty of storage space. Double electric oven, electric hob. Fridge freezer and dishwasher. Double belfast sink. Very well stocked with everything a kitchen should have.Garage/utility/boot room with door directly into accommodation. Washing machine, area for storing logs for woodburner, charcoal for BBQ etc. table tennis table, boules, croquet set, tennis raquets and bikes available for guests use.

Notes on accommodation:
Having sampled a number of gites ourselves over the years we have set out to provide something that we struggled to find - spacious accommodation with large rooms, nicely decorated, well furnished, more than enough equipment and a private, pretty outside area to drink a glass of wine and admire the view. We hope that is what we have achieved.
Our property has been recently renovated / restored. In the barn we have retained the stone walls, exposed beams and many quirky features which allude to its previous use.

We have animals on site - horses and chickens. They are housed well away from your accommodation but for those guests who wish to be involved with the animals they are more than welcome to join me in my daily duties of feeding, watering, collecting eggs, grooming horses etc.

Outside:
The barn has its own private courtyard with outdoor table and chairs, parasol, plunge pool and BBQ, accessed directly from your accommodation.

In total we have 15 acres of land, as well as your own private area we have other spots to take in the view. The entire property is securely fenced and gated so children are safely contained and have plenty space to expend some energy! We have mountain bikes for guests use. We have one other property on site that we rent out. Both are set up to have their own private enterance and private outdoor space but we do have communal areas for those who like to socialise.

Excellent Stay

We stayed in the farmhouse as the barn was already booked (they are next to each other) & it was just outstanding. Plenty of space, beautifully equipped, two log burners with plenty of wood (needed in March) Glorious rural surroundings, south facing enclosed garden, good dog walking and pretty villages with supermarkets within 15 mins Lovely hosts - couldn’t do enough for us, thoroughly recommend

Wonderful stay in Juvet

This has been such an amazing holiday, we cannot thank Maxine enough. The property has everything you could possibly need, with stylish decor and in a beautiful part of France. With recommendations from the hosts we had great family days out. We very much look forward to visiting again next year.

Comfortable and Quiet

This property has everything you need, and more, for a really lovely, comfortable stay. It is located in a very beautiful and quiet area. The hens and their eggs, the goat, horses and peacocks are an added bonus!

A beautiful setting for a tranquil break. The property is spacious and has everything you could possibly need. Our hosts were friendly and helpful. We have stayed at many holiday lets in France and The Grand Juvet is one of the best.

A relaxing break in stunning countryside.

We stayed at Le Grand Juvet for 3 nights and it was heaven. So peaceful and tranquil. The gite was very spacious and was well equipped with everything you would ever need. Maxine and Darren are great hosts, giving us tips on where to visit and even booking a restaurant for us. There are many beautiful villages and chateaux in the area to explore and we were very lucky to fall upon a bbq and "village fete" in the nearby village. If you want a break and truly feel relaxed and rejuvenated, just book it !!

Beautiful and fully equipped accommodation

We had a great stay; the house is great, big and everything is there. The views are stunning en the surrounding is very peacefull and great for waking and cycling . The animals are all very sweet; the horses , goats, chickens etc. The dog is our favorite and the whole family wants a dog now.

Lovely getaway

Maxine and Darren welcomed us in their lovely home. They are flexible hosts who are very helpful and have the best recommandations on what to do in the area. Storm, their dog turned out to be a playful friend for our dog Otis! The garden is completely enclosed which is perfect when travelling with your pets. The view from the garden is marvelous and the peace and quiet you’ll find here is perfect to get away from the rush of everyday life.

A beautiful property

We loved our stay here, the property was spacious, beautifully decorated and so private. Views were stunning. Loved having the free range chickens and peacocks coming to visit us and watching the swallows from the pool. Equipped with everything you would ever need. Thank you for a wonderful stay ( despite the issues with our car! )

Far from the madding crowd...

This is a beautiful property located at the top of a gentle, west facing slope into a shallow valley. Glorious cloudscapes and sunsets! Fully equipped throughout, especially for those that love to cook. Maxine and Darren are marvellous hosts and their chickens, peacocks, goats and horses only add to the charm. The nearest village at around 3km away, with a lovely bar and boulangerie, is Janailhac and Limoges, St Yrieix-la-Perche and the northern Dordogne are a short drive away. We hope to return soon, this was the most relaxed, peaceful location we could ever have hoped for.

Peaceful farmhouse with super helpful hosts

Beautiful spot for our friend’s wedding nearby. Our daughter loved the horses, goats and peacocks. Maxine and Darren were so so accommodating and helpful. Loved the peaceful region and chilling in the garden. House had everything we needed. Recommend.

Worst May weather but stunning location and accommodation

Five star accommodation. Brilliant hosts, a beautiful conversion, nicely equipped, in an idyllic rural setting. Logs were provided for the burner as the weather was unseasonably cold and wet. Only suggestions would be for a larger bed with deeper mattress, a warmer duvet and more instructions on how to use equipment, particularly in the kitchen. No criticism of anything, it's a stunning conversion and the hosts both helpful and friendly.

Truly lovely property

We had a 3 day stop here in this beautiful gite. The main room (kitchen, dining room and sitting room) was very spacious and well decorated. We had UK TV. The main room led to the outside area down a few steps where there was a table and seating area. The pool was small but refreshing. Sadly it didn't get much use because the weather was unusually cold. Upstairs was a very spacious main bedroom with a modern quality shower room with a view over the valley. We were able to park the car under a porch. Nothing was too much trouble for Maxine. She was very kind and generous-spirited to us, and let us store the bikes in the play room next door (and offered the use of their own bikes). All very professional and easy. We thoroughly recommend! Than you Maxine!

Semaine au Grand Juvet

Belle semaine, il y a beaucoup de choses à voir et à visiter.Le logement est spacieux et très bien équipé mais manque de propreté : sol visiblement non serpillé, restait énormément de poils, de poussière et surtout beaucoup de toiles d'araignées avec leurs habitantes à l'intérieur de la maison.Les hôtes sont très gentils, accueillants et présents en cas de besoin.

Peace and tranquility

This is a beautiful place to stay.In the heart of rolling Limousin countryside, surrounded by nature, but in a beautifully refurbished property with all mod cons.The hosts, also, could not have been better. There when we needed her, Maxine could not have been more helpful.100% recommend this property if you want to get away from it all for a while :)

Splendide !

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour ! Maxine et Darren sont d'une grande gentillesse et sont plus que discrets. De plus ils ont permis à notre fille de nourrir les chèvres. La bâtisse est magnifique, décorée avec goût, rien ne manque. La vue est incroyable !!

Prachtige locatie met een prachtige zonsondergang

Als echt weg wil van de drukte en wil genieten van authentiek Frankrijk, ben je hier op het goede adres. Prachtige omgeving met pittoreske Franse dorpjes met kleine bistro's, kastelen, kloosters. Huisje was perfect, locatie top en de zonsondergang prachtig. Maxine en Darren zorgen echt voor alles en voor al je vragen kan je bij hun terecht. En laten we vooral de lieve diertjes niet vergeten. Door deze combinatie hebben wij echt een top vakantie gehad. Heerlijk!!!!! Wij komen graag hier weer terug.

We have lived in France for several years now and run two businesses, our gites and also a tree surgery business. Both of these allow us to make the most of the lovely countryside and glorious weather. We look forward to welcoming you to Le Grand Juvet.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this part of France. Its a beautiful area with lots of trees and lush countryside. The locals really could not have been nicer to us and we have been made so welcome. We often come home to find a neighbour has left surplus veg on our doorstep. Lots of people say its like the UK was 40 years ago when nobody had to lock doors and everyone was keen to help everyone else. Oh and coming from Scotland the weather has been a huge bonus, proper seasons and lots of sun in summer time!
