The famous conical rocks are often used as a backdrop in the series. The beach is a mile of golden sands backed by fantastic dunes, the perfect spot for some surfing or just relaxing. Just a short walk through the garden gate and across the field at the back of the cottage will bring you to the well known local inn, said once to be the haunt of smugglers.
The Eden Project, St Ives, Padstow, Fowey, Truro and many quiet and secluded bays and villages are easily reached as Cubert is centrally located on this dramatic peninsula.
Newquay and Perranporth with plenty of things to see and do, are about 3 miles away in opposite directions and both are great days out. Newquay with its zoo, parks, working harbour, sea fishing, surfing schools and cinema is worth a visit and Perranporth with its sand locked beach bar with live music, makes a great place for a sundowner on the beach.
Candles Cottage with its own off-road parking and close to the village centre is a real gem of a find. The spacious lawned garden is ideal to relax in and overlooks green fields. Golf, horse riding, go karting, cinema, shopping and cycling are all available nearby and a family adventure park, is within walking distance. Beach 1½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 100 yards.

Lovely cottage, perfect location.
Lovely cottage, perfect location.Cleaner may want to take a look at the windows , and headboard - quite dusty and cobwebs. Another thing to note, if your wanting to eat at Smugglers Den Inn (highly recommend) the holiday booklet states that ‘you can walk across the paddock at the back of Candles. The footpath takes you straight to the door’ this is not as easy as it sounds. The path is not accessible as there are stiles, so if you have a pushchair or wheel chair you can’t walk it. We started the walk, then came across the stiles, as we had the pushchair we had to turn around and get in the car, making us late for our table. Apart from that all good.
Gemütliche Wohnung mit toller Lage für die Erkundung von Cornwall.

Yes lovely cottage and location for beach hoping and local amenities perfect.
Yes lovely cottage and location for beach hoping and local amenities perfect.
Just two slightly negative points, the dog walkers in the field to the rear of the cottage are very inconsiderate, barking dogs from around 6.45 am EVERY DAY!! and a tv in the main bedroom would be a massive bonus to prevent squabbling!,!
Everything else perfect

Everything about holidaying in Candles was great !The owner had thought of everything . Kitchen well designed . Lounge comfortable. TV had surround sound . Which was lovely when we listened to the Proms! Garden well set out and access to the church field made it easy to get to the best pub in Cornwall, The Smugglers ! But we didn’t see Prince Harry .... what a shame .
