College spring break snowmobile trip!
OK, get ready! I had the pleasure of bringing 5 college kids who were on their 'spring break' on a 5-day snowmobile trip last week. One is my cousin on my mom's side who flew up from Phoenix, another one is my cousin on my dad's side who flew up from Houston and the 'other 3' are 'local' kids from Woonsocket RI who I've known for many years.
This was an IDEAL location to spend 3 1/2 days riding in 3 1/2 different directions. Day 1 riding to Limestone and 'pretending' we were B-52's riding on the runway at Loring A.F.B. then riding the 'border trail' zig-zagging the US/Canadian border for 20 miles, then heading back via Stockholm, totaling 120 miles. Day 2 -- storm forecast day but we DID ride 20 miles before deciding to turn back since white-out conditions were forecast for the afternoon. Drove in my truck to Lake View Restaurant in St. Agatha all of 20 miles away for a lunch/supper combination that day and then enjoyed a couple of the movies in the camp library before bed. Day 3 -- Rode all the way to Two Rivers Restaurant in the TINY town of Allagash for lunch then riding a 'loop trail' crossing Eagle Lake to return to this camp, 140 total miles even though one of my sleds broke down and the 3 'lightweight' kids had to take turns doubling-up for the rest of our trip. Day 4 -- Up at 6AM since we had to check out that day and STILL were able to follow the St. John River via Van Buren to Madawaska (had lunch there!) and ride about 20 miles to return to the camp to check out on time.
This camp is in the ideal location for 4 days of riding, kind of in the middle of a triangle.
The camp itself? 6 people, 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with a LOT of open space ... doesn't get any better than that. Having a washer/dryer there enabled the kids to pack light, something kids don't usually do these days! Wi-fi worked great so always in touch with the 'outside' world too.
Have to give a 'thumbs-up' to St. Peter's Store being all of 1/4 mile away -- never had to worry about getting to a gas station with those 6 sleds AND getting snacks if the kids were craving!
Response from Carla was quick when I texted her to ask a question ... communication was in place while we stayed there!
Yep, I'll have to start checking when NEXT year's spring break will be taking place! :)
House and location excellent
We loved this place, it was perfect for our week of snowmobiling and exploring. The house is big enough for a large party, but also cozy enough for just us two and the pup. Only a half mile to the trails and closest gas. Nice quiet road, well cleared. House has great woodwork, super comfy bed, great kitchen and furniture perfect for relaxing after hours of riding. We've made this snowmobile trip 6 times and this is the first house we've rented we want to stay in again. Highly recommended.
Plenty of room and great location
We enjoyed our stay . Close to the trails, nice open floor plan, clean, and plenty of beds.
Great place to stay
7 of us stayed for 4 days on a snowmobile trip and could not have been happier with the accommodations. Having St.Peter's store right down the street was convenient and the store owner was outstanding. The people in the County are top notch! Easy access it ITS 83 and close to Sporting Club and Lakeview for dinner. The house came with everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. We will definitely be back.
We stayed at the house for a snowmobile trip, and it exceeded our expectations. The house was very clean, spacious, and there was plenty of room for our vehicles and trailers. The location was also great as there was a gas station nearby, and multiple trails affording us to be able to go in different directions.
Snowmobiling from here
Second time we stayed here excellent trail access the house is very clean and modernized. Plenty of room.
