Why Leanne Butler chose Jamestown
We absolutely love this cabin and the area. It's so beautiful and serene and the perfect getaway for a couple, family, or group of friends. It's beyond nice to have your horses right there where you can see them, be able to tack up and just ride off directly from the cabin to various trails within the park.

Very nice cabin. Clean, comfortable and relaxing. Owner very responsive with emails and details about area and things to do.
Hi Kevin, thank you so much for your review! I’m so glad you all enjoyed your stay!
Very clean! Nice private property in a beautiful location.
The "just right" escape for our family.
I brought my son and mother to Deer Haven Lodge for a late summer getaway for a week July-August 2018. It was an absolutely perfect experience. We were close enough to grab a day and a half of touristy things like river rafting and a guided horseback ride, while having the privacy of our forest getaway and nearby Pickett State Park for relaxing the rest of the time.
The cabin's huge, mostly-covered deck and shady surroundings let the sun gently wake us every morning through open windows rather than glaring in. We got to enjoy the outdoors a great deal, even when my mom was having trouble with the heat or the rain was coming down. Relaxing and chatting in the hot tub (especially after riding or hiking), card games around the dining table, and watching Grandma vs. teen air hockey matches were among my favorite moments at the cabin.
Having a full kitchen and grill available, as well as laundry machines, meant that we could adventure all we wanted without fretting over which clothes got into the river (all of them), who smelled like horse (all of us), or scouring the nearby towns for any restaurant that could meet everyone's dietary restrictions.
Leanne was a wonderful hostess. The cabin was clean and in perfect order when we arrived, and Leanne was cheerfully responsive to communication when a minor issue came up. The extra blankets in each bedroom were much appreciated by the younger set when Grandma cranked the air conditioning. ;)
Susan, thank you for your sweet review! I’m so glad you all had such a great time, it sounds like some great memories were made. ☺️ Take care!
Charmingly peaceful getaway
Charming getaway cabin! The hosts included many thoughtful touches ranging from a fruit basket to welcome us to soft toilet tissue! Would definitely recommend!
In the Woods
This cabin in the woods was so peaceful and quiet except for an occasional dog bark and horse neighing from the distance, which we didn't mind at all! The hiking trail to the waterfall behind the cabin was an unexpected surprise where we saw the rock walls and rock shelter as well as deer tracks by the creek. Went to Pickett State Park two days for hiking and canoeing. The only improvement would be to add nice patio furniture for sitting, visiting, and enjoying nature.
Leanne has made this a beautiful home in the woods! We could not have been happier with our stay!
All the nicest details of a rental were covered, quality bedding and linens, clean and tidy. Kitchen was stocked for any kind of cooking you want to do. The best was sitting on the deck, in the trees, listening to the birds sing and no other distractions.
Thank you very much for your wonderful review, I appreciate it. It’s definitely my soul recharging station, and I’m happy you found it so as well!
