Weekend getaway in September 2017
Our experience at your cottage was different than I expected. When entering into the cottage, we were hit with a heavy musty smell. I guess I wasn't expecting that, but once we got in and looked around we noticed that there was no insulation throughout. Guess that was the reason for the smell. Every room was decorated nicely. Well stocked, and view was beautiful. We were extremely cold all weekend though. Guess the reason again, due to no insulation, so what heat was on, just went "out the walls" I'm sorry for the negative review, but our experience wasn't what we were so looking forward to.
What a wonderful cabin! It was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Everything that the pictures show was accurate and exceeded our expectations.
Thank you Stehanie!
We had 6 adults and 3 kids enjoy the cottage for the week. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The bay that the cottage on is very quiet and pretty, great for kayaking or floating! The lake is mucky in this area though, so if you want to do much swimming you need to go to a different area of the lake. The kids loved the separate bunkhouse and games, and the owner was very attentive to any questions or problems we had during the week. Thank you for a great stay at Grand Lake!!
We enjoyed our stay and found the arrangement to our liking. The separate buildings allowed for more vacationers to stay on the property than what the cottage could comfortably house. That allowed for more privacy even though those in the out buildings had to come into the cottage for bathroom needs. Kitchen well stocked with pots/pans/dishes, etc. and a pleasant dining area.
Nice & quiet
Cabin is exactly what it advertises. The place was nice and clean and well stocked. Loved the bikes and the cornhole game. The linens and bedding were quality and kitchen had anything you might need. We came with kayaks which was perfect for the shallow bay that you are on. We would definitely stay again!
Very clean and nice
Had a great stay here recently. Just like other reviews we found the cottage very nice, clean and nicely furnished. Loved having many amenities provided by owner including 2 bikes and corn hole bean bag game. We utilized both all weekend. Owner very accommodating and responsive. Yard is rather large for being right on the lake. Privacy fences on both sides also never felt like neighbors were watching us or we were bothering them.
Area is beautiful. Took daily runs and bike trips which was great. Be sure to check out Presque Isle lighthouses, worth the short trip. Also took day trip to Mackinac which was about a 1hr 15 min ride.
Only thing I must note that I didn't see in any other posts is if you have kids I really don't recommend swimming at cottage. We tried it but this bay is more for fishing so water is shallow and very muddy. I sank in probably 6 inches when standing at end of dock. Kind of gross. There are many sand beaches only short drive away, or if you bring a boat like we did you can take boat to sand bar(s) and swim there. Not as convenient but also not bad if you know that going in.
Two lighthouses, Lake Huron within 2 miles with beach access, Thompson Harbor State Park, many recreational areas.
