Cosy, comfortable and well-equipped accommodation for 8
If you're looking for an Austrian style mountain chalet away from it all and with an air of utter tranquillity, then you're looking at the right place! Our house has room enough for up to 8 or 9 adults, with comfortable, cosy accommodation.
The kitchen, though quite small, is cleverly designed: several people can sit on the 'Sitzbank' around the table and keep right out of the way, leaving whoever's cooking to get on with things unhindered. There's a small, traditional wood-burning stove - especially good on those colder days - and an up-to-the-minute Miele oven and hob for everyday use.
The sitting room - with an additional dining space - has an Austrian 'Kachelofen' - a large, wood-fired tiled oven with power enough to warm the whole house through in winter. The room looks southwest and west, with stunning views of the distant Karawanken mountain range. Double doors lead out to the patio, with a large, locally made wooden table and seating for 8 or more, and retractable awning.
We live in Klagenfurt and use our house at Buggl in Bach mainly at the weekends. So we're almost always on hand just 30 km away, if you want to talk about places to visit, good walking routes, the various nearby ski areas and so on. Also, the house is more fully equipped than some 'holiday' accommodation, and you will often find jars of our home-made jam, chutney and so on which you're welcome to use! And if / when you do come into Klagenfurt please feel free to give us a call, if you wish, for a coffee and a chat.

About Paul Warren Wilson
Paul and Kathy Warren Wilson are English, but have been living in Klagenfurt, Austria since 2006, together with their 4 children. Paul is a pilot flying the Boeing 747 for Cathay Pacific and Kathy is a qualified teacher - teaching primary classes and also teaching English as a foreign language. It was time for a change from England - and Carinthia provides a wonderful outdoor life, as well as the chance for our children to become fluent in a second language. It's not really enough just to speak English nowadays...
Paul Warren Wilson purchased this Chalet in 2007
Why Paul Warren Wilson chose Gemeinde Sankt Urban
Our house at Buggl in Bach provides the most wonderful setting for quiet relaxation, fresh air, walking, and tranquillity, whilst being only a short drive (35 mins) from Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia, where we live.

A peaceful week in the Austrian hills.
I spent a wonderfully peaceful week at Paul and Kathy's house in Buggl. It was the end of the winter so I managed to get a couple of days of skiing in at local resorts (around one hour's drive) and also enjoyed some gentle strolling in the hills straight from the house; one day lunching in Italy, and a trip to Lake Bled another day. The property was very well equipped with everything one might require and all correspondence with Paul and Kathy prior to my visit was replied to very promptly and efficiently. They were great hosts.
Thanks for your kind words and we're always very happy when our guests can enjoy their time in our house, with all that the local area and nature has to offer. Kaernten / Carinthia is such a special part of Austria...
House Buggl in Bach is a perfect chalet
This chalet is well situated at 1100 meters enjoying a fantastic view and offering all you need. It can be easily reached by car and has really everything you may need. Paul and Kathy are great hosts, we had a perfect time and can recommend this chalet.
Thanks you so much for your comments. We're always happy to share our house with such appreciative guests!
Perfect big family house
You wanna know where the Yeti sleeps? This place is really at the end of the world. You can feel free to stay with bounch of friends or huge family as well. There is no chance to disturb someone except the Yeti. However the lenght to the hill is really easy to reach by the car. if you wanna try more skiing resorts is the perfect location. The nearest resort is suitable for one or two days or for skiing with children. The house was spacious, clean, comfy and traditionally furnitured.
If you choose this property you will not step on the mine.
We have spent here one week and we are gonna get back.
The homeowner is the best virual ghost. We havent met but everything was perfectly prepared like the cake, farm products, snaps, beer, the warm of the home etc.
We felt embarassed we havent brought any gift - thats critics part of the rewiev.
All in all the best accommodation we ever had
Wow, we must watch out for that Yeti! So glad you enjoyed your time in our house.
Wonderful, it can't get much better than this!
Everything was excellent! The accommodation was very comfortable with everything you need, and situated in the most wonderful scenery. Paul and Kathy have been extremely kind and helpful before, during and also after our stay. We loved being able to walk straight from the house and just looking at the local views and listening to the cow bells – bliss. The scenery in Austria is beautiful with attractive little villages like Gurk and Freisach and lovely alpine places to walk. We also liked being close enough to visit Slovenia, especially the Soca valley, Vrsic and Ljubljana.
Fully equiped house with magnificent views.
À stay in this house is really enjoyable. Buggl in Bach is very small and a pretty long drive (15 minutes) up the mountain, but whilst there one can enjoy wonderful views and it is a perfect starting point for nice walks. Paul and Kathy provider a warm welcome with all kinds of local products. Everything you need to make your stay pleasant is provided for in the house. Once a week there is a big party nextdoor (dammerschoppen). We highly recommend this house. We bought Karnten cards for our family (9 persons) which made the stay in Karnten very enjoyable.
Thanks for your kind words and we're delighted you enjoyed your stay!
Buggl in Bach is a hamlet of 8 houses clustered around the original farmhouse, belonging to the Stubinger family (now in their 4th generation here), who are famous for their Austrian musical evenings on Thursdays in July and August. The house nestles in a curve on the hillside, with forests and pastures ('alms') all around. There are wide-ranging views across the countryside, looking 2,000 ft down into the valley near Feldkirchen, or around 100 km across to the Karawanken mountains bordering Slovenia and Italy. In winter the area is snow-covered; in spring, the fields come to life again with a myriad of wild flowers of all colours; and in summer, the cattle enjoy the lush grass which in late spring takes on a real emerald colour. Right out of the front door, you can walk in almost any direction from the house, either along the many paths and tracks, or indeed freely across the fields. Friendly, local guest houses make for an easy and tasty stopping point during a day or half day walk. The Goggausee, a small lake with quiet swimming opportunities, is within walking distance - although it's downhill, so save some energy for the walk back home! Within easy driving distance are many more of Carinthias wonderful lakes - noted for their beautifully clear water and their warmth (up to 27 deg C in summer). The nearest is the family-friendly St Urbaner See, which has pleasant grassy areas for sitting in the shade or sun when not swimming. Just over 30 mins drive brings you to the county capital of Klagenfurt, which lies adjacent to the Wörthersee lake, a delightful place for swimmers and sunbathers. The city itself has a charming old centre and offers all the usual facilities, including numerous coffee shops (for example in the Alter Platz) where one can sit outside and enjoy a coffee or a beer. Of special note is the Christkindlmarkt, a Christmas market full of character with unusual and good quality gifts for sale - as well as Glühwein and various local delicacies for those with an appetite - which runs from 24 Nov to 24 Dec each year. This location in southern Austria also allows for an easy visit to Slovenia or Italy (although, as someone said to us... 'If you live here, why would you want to go anywhere else?!'). Tarvisio, just across the border into Italy, is 1 hr away, as also are Bled and Ljubljana in Slovenia. Salzburg is around 2 hr 30 min drive, and both Vienna and Venice are approx 3 hr 30 min. The Austrian trains also provide an excellent means of travel. For skiers, the nearest area is Simonhöhe (approx 15 mins by car) - a relatively small area, ideal for beginners and lower intermediates. Simonhöhe is particularly popular with families, due to the nature of its slopes and facilities, and the fact that it tends not to have many crazies skiing wildly out of control down the slopes! Ski school and ski rental are available. For those looking for more challenging skiing, several areas lie within approx 1 hr drive away, including Bad Kleinkirchheim, Turracherhöhe and Nassfeld.
