Luxury BedonBoard on Houseboat in Canals Amsterdam
In 2009 we built our own houseboat, a dream that came true. To wake up in the morning with the reflection of the sunlight on the surface of the water and hear the water birds singing is a unique way to live within the city. To share with you the experience and feeling of living on a houseboat in the canals of Amsterdam, we created a stylish and comfortable bed and breakfast on our houseboat. We are very proud of the result and would like to welcome you on our BedonBoard. The BedonBoard is a beautiful light room with adjacent private bathroom in a new, spacious and modern houseboat. The room is located on a quiet walkway near the Westerpark and at 500 meters from the Jordaan. The room has a comfortable king-size bed (1.80 x 2.10), a modern bathroom with private toilet, shower. There is a fridge, a water boiler and a coffee maker. You can also sit outside the B&B on the terrace at the entrance.
BedonBoard is located 500 meters from the heart of the Jordaan, in the historic center of Amsterdam. The Jordaan is an area full of small restaurants, terraces, fun shops alternating with beautiful canals, small streets and with a variety of wonderful historic buildings. The Jordaan borders on the well-known shopping area the Nine Small Streets (literally: Nine Little Streets) were you can also find many small shops and cozy restaurants.
Within walking distance you will find highlights like the Anne Frank House, the Westertower, the Dam square, the Royal Palace and the Amsterdam Historic Museum. BedonBoard is easily accessible by car and public transport (see below under "Accessibility"), but once you're here, the easiest means of transportation is by bicycle (see tab "Bicycle rental").
The BedonBoard is a 10 minute walk from the nicest shopping street in Amsterdam (and awarded second best shopping street of the Netherlands 2011): Haarlemmerdijk and about 15 minutes from Central Station or Leidseplein.
It is a further 500 meters walk North to the beautiful, and recently fully renovated Westerpark, also known as the "Culture Park" of Amsterdam. In Westerpark you will find a classic Victorian style park section, a large center section for cultural events and a more rugged part with trails for walkers or runners. Centrally located in the park you will find the Espresso factory with simply the best coffee Amsterdam has to offer. Enjoy a superb breakfast in the nearby bakery shop. Every Sunday of the month there is a farmers market in the park. If you're looking for something very close to the BedonBoard, we recommend the Pavilion. We live here and have a small dog and cat.
In summary, a peaceful but central location in a nice neighborhood in Amsterdam.
ACCESSIBILITY:
From the airport you can take a train to central station (20 min). From there you can either walk (20 minutes), take a cab (approximately € 13) or take bus 21 (less than 10 minutes). To take bus 21. When you arrive at Central Station, exit on the city side (main exit). Take bus no. 21 and get off after 5 minutes at the stop “van Beuningenplein”. On the other side of the street you will see a large square with a play garden: the "van Beuningenplein". Take the road left of this square (Tweede Keucheniusstraat) and follow 150 meters to the very end. You are in front of your BedonBoard! When you decide to come by car. You can almost always park your car in front of the BedonBoard. However, Amsterdam is not very "car friendly" as the city charges rather high rates for parking. Alternatively, go to Park and Ride Amsterdam for cheaper parking options. The Park and Ride that is closest to us is the "P + R Sloterdijk". The cost for Park and Ride is € 8 per day. They offer return tickets for public transport free of charge. GPS coordinates: 52, 38023, 4.86877

We had a great stay! The neighbourhood was quiet and was an easy walk to all of the hot spots. Our host was lovely and responsive. Overall the BedonBoard worked out perfectly for us.
Well maintained, simply modern style room with great views. Easy walking to Westerpark, restaurants, and bus access to any where in the city. A lovely family of hosts.
We loved staying on an Amsterdam houseboat during our exploration of this great city. Doet and family were welcoming and accessible. The BedonBoard is well located on a quiet canal. Could not have hoped for more!

I had a wonderful stay at this lovely little accommodation by the water. It’s tucked away in a peaceful, quiet area, yet it’s just a short walk to the city center. The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. The location is perfect for a relaxing getaway, and I would definitely return if I’m ever in Amsterdam again. Highly recommend!

Amsterdam stay
Great location!! Doet was very kind. We were a little overwhelmed with the check in process due to our WhatsApp not working. We thought we’d have a little more room than we did. Room was nice, bathroom was nice, and location was incredible. Overall, good stay!

Great location, not too far from Amsterdam Centraal and Centrum, but far enough away from crowded, chaotic touristy areas. Lovely area of Amsterdam, Westerpark. Houseboat was very cute, on a quiet canal lined with other cute houseboats and very close to a lot of amenities… grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, public transit, bike rentals, shopping. The room was cute, cozy and clean, and hosts were very nice. The weather was very rainy the weekend we stayed, and the sounds of rain on the roof was very cozy to relax and fall asleep too. Only downside was misunderstanding about the accommodation. We thought it was the whole boat, but it is shared with a family and another rental accommodation in the basement. We also misunderstood about a kitchen being included and my friend has a lot of dietary restrictions, so that was unexpected, but with a lot of food options nearby it worked out. The room was quite separated from the rest of the house, so it was okay in the end. We were in Amsterdam for Amsterdam Dance Event and we were forthcoming about potential very late night returns to the boat, which hosts were cool about. We did not often cross paths with anyone else, but the hosts were available if we had questions or requests. I would stay here again.
The room was cosy and decorated to a high standard. Although check in was not possible until 4pm due to other guests checking out the same day, the host kindly allowed us to drop our luggage off when we arrived at 12.
There is a bike rents shop nearby which is convenient.
If you have bikes then the location is great as it is in a quiet location but also very close to centra Amsterdam.

Wonderful Time, Great Place
When coming to A-dam, we wanted something different from a Hotel. Bed on Board was PERFECT!! A cute Houseboat, a very clean and tastefully appointed bedroom with very nice private bathroom. Doet is a wonderful Host, everything is perfectly layed out and explained.
We Americans made our way walking and via Bus and everything was perfect.
We would love to return some day!! If you are looking for a romantic getaway spot - or just a quiet, private space for a few days - this is IT!!
Thank you for Everything!!

Dear Yaya,
Thank you for being our guest in our BedonBoard.
The two of you were a amazing couple.
Hope to see you back some time in Amsterdam.
Wish the two of you all the best in the future.
Kind regards, Doet Bierma
Quiet part of town but be prepared to walk as it is some distance from the central station. Not a problem for us except late at night when we were tired. Public transport does cover the whole of Amsterdam however. Hosts were very pleasant and kept a low profile allowing us to do our own thing but helpful when needed. Highly recommend this canal boat stay. Different.

We loved staying on Doet's and Sven's charming boathouse in Amsterdam. It's in a quiet neighborhood but close to everything we wanted to see and do. The hosts, Doet and Sven, were a perfect combination of helpful and available, but really left us to enjoy their city on our own—unless we had a question. They are very knowledgable about their city. The room and bathroom were spotless and looks exactly as it does in the photo. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets and towels were very nice. We would highly recommend staying on Bedonboard. It really made us feel like we were a part of a city that most tourists don't get to experience. It was truly wonderful. MIn and Jim (USA)

"Luxury Boathouse"
First of all, the title of the place is totally misrepresented. The hostess was extremely rude and hard to work with. The unit is a bedroom in the Host/Hostess' houseboat. They have 2 teen age boys who, with the husband and wife were constantly slamming doors even until the late night..12 midnight+. Also, the razor thin door was no barrier from hearing their LOUD conversations late into the night. The bedroom did have a sliding window to open to outside air, but there was no cross ventilation and no AC and no fans. Opening window was exposed to afternoon sun and the bedroom was extremely hot. Over all, I believe the unit is overly represented by the Host and it was a miserable 3 days.

Michael mailed us 6 (!) times to secure an early check in. However, when the day arrived, he came 4 hours late without as much as a single message. These things can happen, but this type of behavior turned out to be a precursor to his whole visit.
He had elaborate questions about public transport, grocery markets, dinner, how to reach it and much, much more. We went into lengths explaining things, drawing maps and writing up all important names, numbers and directions for him. We booked restaurants and his taxi and listened patiently to his stories of how this trip was the most traumatizing experience of his life.
Next day he wants our assurances the taxi we booked for him for next morning would indeed arrive. We were logged into our bankaccount, doing administration, and said we would come back to him within 10 minutes. He had a hard time understanding why we could not help him immediately. We convinced him 10 mins later the taxi was trustworthy, but the convincing required another 30 mins.
We did our utmost best to accomodate Michael, but believe it was to no avail. Michael was going to have a bad holiday and succeeded in having just that.
