1 Bedroom, 2 Baths, Sleeps 4
Don’t be fooled by the name of this cabin: Although it’s called African Safari, the 1-bedroom, 1-level log home is the essence of mountain-cabin charm. And with amenities such as a pool table, an outdoor hot tub, and access to an indoor heated pool year-round, it provides plenty of luxuries as well.
African Safari is located in the Hidden Springs Resort, less than 10 minutes from Dollywood and Parrot Mountain and Gardens. Within 15 minutes you can drive to even more attractions, including the Titanic Museum, the Cal Ripken Experience, Blake Jones Racing Center, Gatlinburg Golf Course, dinner theaters, restaurants, and more. Another advantage of the resort is its indoor heated pool, where you can swim come rain, snow, or shine.
When you’re not swimming in the pool or hitting the local hot spots, you’ll find plenty to enjoy in African Safari itself. The great room, for instance, includes a pool table and an electronic dartboard to get your competitive juices flowing. For more laid-back entertainment, relax in one of the 2 recliners or stretch out on the leather sofa and watch a movie on the 32” TV with cable and a DVD player. In winter the glow of the gas log fireplace makes the wood-planked floors, walls, and vaulted ceiling even more inviting; in summer the ceiling fan adds a refreshing breeze. And the large windowed wall looking out toward the lush woodlands encourages daydreaming any time of year.
You can also head out to the large covered deck to revel in the sights and sounds of the setting. The deck is furnished with classic rocking chairs so you can kick back amid the breeze in timeless Smoky Mountain fashion. For a more pampering experience, gaze out at the sun-dappled trees or the star-speckled sky from the steamy bubbles of the deck’s 4-person hot tub. A long soak feels especially rejuvenating after a day of hiking in the nearby Great Smoky Mountains National Park or skiing at Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area.
The deck includes a dining table, so that you can enjoy meals alfresco; after all, the fresh mountain air makes even the simplest meal seem like a feast. Of course, there’s another table for 4 inside as well. Likewise, in addition to a charcoal grill outside, African Safari has a fully equipped kitchen indoors. Here you’ll find all the appliances, gadgets, cookware, and tableware you need, from a full-size refrigerator to a blender to a dishwasher.
The crowning glory of African Safari is its master suite. The perfect intimate retreat, it includes a king-size bed, a gas fireplace, a TV, a private bathroom, and perhaps best of all, a jetted tub. The bedroom also opens onto the deck, so you can savor a nightcap in the silvery moonlight before indulging in a restorative soak before nestling under the covers. Even if you don’t turn on the fireplace, romance will no doubt be in the air!
In addition to the master bathroom, African Safari has a 2nd full bathroom. This will definitely come in handy if you have friends or the kids sleeping on the great room’s sofa bed, which accommodates 2.
You can pack light when you stay at African Safari. We’ll provide all the clean towels and linens you could possibly need; in fact, the king-size bed will be impeccably made up by the time you arrive, so you can sprawl out for a nap before you even unpack. What’s more, the cabin has its own washer and dryer. For once you can return from vacation without immediately having to do laundry!
The living is easy at African Safari—and isn’t that what a vacation is all about? So book your stay today. We’re looking forward to seeing you!

Dated and Dirty
Not what I expect when I rent from Mt Jackson Homes. Where do I begin? The cabin must not see much activity for things were dirty, from the windows to the furniture being sticky and recliners being stained and one partially broken. One trash bag, which ripped when emptied, was included, no others. One pot holder, limited cooking utensils and pans. The TVs were old tube and did not have separate channel capability with very limited satellite channels. The view was other cabins upward across a small ravine. The "african safari" theme was tolerable and not an issue. For the cost associated with this cabin, it did not compare to other cabins we have rented. Bees buzzed throughout the deck making it unsittable. The hot tub was the only plus along with the gas fireplace, for NO INTERNET provided --read the small print on this one. The community indoor all season pool DID have internet and the pool was nice but the area not well kept with sliding doors that did not work properly. Disappointed in the overall cost with the cabin being so dated and lacking internet and decent TV.
Greg, thank you for taking the time to review African Safari. Your input, as well as all guest feedback, is important to us as we want guest expectations to be met upon arrival. We apologies for falling short of your expectations. We want you to know that housekeeping is working on resolving the issues you encountered and replacing needed kitchen items. We will pass along your other suggestions to the owner. We are glad you enjoyed the hot tub and the gas fireplace. We hope you will stay with us again on your next trip, giving us the opportunity to exceed expectations.
Great cabin with tons of space.
Nice cabin with a huge balcony. The view from the backside is not as nice as some of the others higher up on the mountain but we thought it was cozy and comfortable. The fireplace is double sided so you can enjoy it from the living room and the bedroom. Plenty of seating if you have several guests with you. Although we didn't use it, there is a pool table to enjoy along with other games to play. I would highly recommend this cabin.

Cozy & bright cabin in the foothills of Sevierville, TN
I didn't see any reviews for this property before staying so I decided to leave a detailed review.
The African Safari cabin was spacious and comfortable. For a one bedroom, my boyfriend and I had more than enough room. We could have entertained a large group. There was a huge private back deck with 4 rocking chairs, a table, 6 additional chairs and a wonderful jacuzzi. We spent almost every morning and evening in the jacuzzi. All the trees in the backyard made it very private. (You can see some of the foothills from the front porch & if you walk up the hill you can see more views). There were two bathrooms so we could each have one although the shower in the master had a very weak spray. We didn't use the large whirlpool bath in the bedroom or the double sided fireplace but they were nice touches.
The king sized bed was very comfortable although the pillows were thin. The kitchen had many appliances; a toaster, a toaster oven, microwave, coffeemaker, blender, refrigerator and oven.
I would have given this property 4 stars but we had a few issue. I listed the minor ones first. For such a spacious cabin, the storage was lacking. There was only one small closet and no hangers. There was small dresser but I had to leave a few things in my suitcase. Only a problem if you like to unpack all your things. There is no wifi (since checking in and checking out require internet I think this should be provided), the tv's were old and the one in the bedroom was linked to the living room so you had to find a channel on the living room tv to watch that show in the bedroom. Laundry detergent was missing in our starter pack. The kitchen didn't have a spatula. We cooked breakfast most mornings so flipping eggs was a challenge. We had plenty of toilet paper and dish detergent but only one paper towel roll and no cleaning sponges.
The major issue we had was that we endured 3.5 days with nonflushing toilets. We arrived Wednesday night and called on a Thursday afternoon about this issue and it wasn't until I emailed the property management on Sunday morning that the issue was finally taken care of. At first I thought it was part of cabin life in the foothills but by Sunday evening the toilets flushed well. We left Wednesday morning so we dealt with this for half of our stay. it was also disappointing that we didn't receive an apology for the inconvenience.
All in all it was a pleasant property in a nice secluded location.
Thank you Heather for taking the time to review our property. Your input, as well as all our guest feedback is vitally important as we want all guests expectations to be met upon arrival. We sincerely apologies for not meeting all expectations. Our records show that on 7/14 one of our maintenance techs was on property to take care of the low batteries in the thermostat. If we would have known about the toilet issue then, we would have been able to take care of the issue sooner. We look forward to having you stay with us again on your next visit to the Smokies, giving us an opportunity to exceed all expectations.
Nice place to stay
My husband and I need to get away for a few days. This was a nice, clean home to stay in. We did have problems with the code they gave us to get in, but it was fairly quickly resolved. There were plenty of towels, and great starter packets of soaps. The owner stopped by to make sure we got into the house ok and that everything was where it needed to be. I thought that was really nice. The decor is a bit worn, but totally usable. The only real negative for us was that the hot tub's jets didn't work very well; it's obvious it needs an overhaul. We enjoyed our weekend and would come back again.
Thank you Heather for taking the time to review our property. Your input, as well as all our guest feedback is vitally important as we want all guests expectations to be met upon arrival. We are sorry we fell short in meeting all of yours. We do have a 24/7 on call service department, we wish you would have know that the issue with the hot tub, we would have sent a tech out to remedy the situation. We look forward to having you stay with us again on your next visit to the Smokies, giving us an opportunity to exceed all expectations.
