Great little home in the Bavarian countryside
We loved this home, and Sabeeka and Hans are delightful. It was perfect for our week in Bavaria. It allowed us to stay outside Munich, yet enjoy all it and other places had to offer.
Beautiful cottage, well equipped.
We were greeted after a long journey with a warm welcome and a generous welcome pack of groceries.
The house is in a quiet village. The kitchen has got everything you need ( 3 coffee makers!). It is beautifully restored, with ample seating areas and comfortable beds.
The pool area is a lovely place to relax and have a dip to cool off. The garden is full of fruit trees and there is a private seating area for the cottage.
The only downside was mosquitoes, take repellant!
We are a family of 4 with two children, 7 and 8. It was too hot to use the bikes available during the day so we explored the two local lakes and had a great week of swimming.
We had a lovely week and would not change a thing. I highly recommend this beautiful property.
Perfect location for our family holiday in Bavaria
5 out of 5 : The cottage is a lovely base, fully equipped with everything we needed for our family holiday. The outdoor natural pool was a big hit with our children and the whole setting of the cottage is ideal : quiet, relaxing and convenient. The train station is a short distance from the house and it was easy for us to go directly into Munich from there. We had a hire car and places that we visited that were easy to drive to were Dachau, Garmisch-Partenkirchen ( for a brilliant day out at Zugspitze mountain) and the close by Skyline Park.
The beautiful Lake Ammersee is within walking / cycling distance as are two towns (Eching and Turkenfeld) with places to shop and eat.
Hans and Sabeeka were extremely kind and helpful to us during our stay. They are a lovely, friendly couple who did everything they could and more to make us welcome and ensure our holiday was as simple and relaxing as it could be.
Overall, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this cottage and it’s owners to others. Thank you Hans and Sabeeka.
Lovely place to stay
A bijou little cottage full of charm and character with comfortable beds and well equipped plus a good central location all helped to make our stay memorable. Sabeeka & Hans were very welcoming & I have nothing but positive feedback for the cottage and the area. Highly recommended :-)
A charming and idyllic cottage that felt like home!
From the moment we walked through the door of this lovingly restored historic cottage, we knew we'd found the perfect home base for our family's five days in Bavaria. Not only is the house well-stocked with kitchen and bathroom essentials, the beds are comfortable, the space is laid out well for mutilple sleeping areas, and the care and hospitality of the hosts is evident in how thoughtfully they've prepared the house. By car, we made day trips throughly the region, visiting the famous Andechs monastery and brewery, Neuschwanstein castle, the beautiful town of Füssen, and the Amersee and Starnberger areas. When we didn't want the hassle of driving in Munich, we parked for free at the nearby train station and enjoyed a lovely 40-minute S-Bahn journey into the city. One of the many highlights of staying in this cottage were our morning and evening walks through the quiet countryside. Truly, this accommodation was perfect, the hosts kind and helpful, and the location ideal for exploring the beauty of Bavaria.
Wonderful, homey little cottage
My guests from Asia had a wonderful stay at your place. Thank you for being so very helpful and friendly and especially your son, who really took care of these guests, they really appreciated his help. They loved the house and the area and are looking forward to come back again in spring when the flowers are in bloom !
The location of the house enables you to enjoy the best of both worlds. Although you can easily reach the city of Munich and all the possibilities that are connected with this vibrant center of cultural life, you can enjoy the peace and beauty of rural Bavarian countryside. Beside the Ammersee, 3 further beautiful lakes - Wörthsee, Pilsensee and the famous Starnbergersee - are close by. Various water sports such as windsurfing, sailing or swimming can be indulged in here. Weather permitting, the smaller lakes are ideal for ice skating in winter.
The Area is perfect for walking, hiking, cycling or just relaxing. There are plenty of cycling routes (maps are available in the cottage). The Alps and Jura mountains are only a 1 - 2 hour drive away. Spectacular canyons, romantic waterfalls and springs, mysterious stalactite caves, an ice grotto and lots of other unique natural phenomenas await you there. There are a number of ski resorts in the Alps that can easily be reached such as Garmisch, the Zugspitze, Mittenwald, Lenggries, Spitzing, Brauneck, Achenkirch and Leermoos.
The historic monastery and pilgrimage chapel of Andechs - world famous for its strong beer - is a 25 min drive away. Further beautiful churches such as the baroque church in Diessen are nearby. The location is perfect for exploring historic cities such as Munich, Augsburg, Dachau and Landberg or mountain towns such as Garmisch or Altötting as well as the famous castles of Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. Slightly further away but in comfortable reach as well (by train as well) are for example the cities of Salzburg or Nürnberg.
The cottage is located 30 km outside of Munich. A train station is 2 km from the village and a regular train service can be used to comfortably reach the Munich city center. Being the capital and cultural center of Bavaria you will find various sightseeing attractions as well as interesting activities. There is a countless number of museums (including the BMW world as well as the famous 'Deutsches Museum') you can visit, beautiful parks and architecture as well as the Olympic park and stadium from 1974. Additionally there are various churches ranging from the middle - ages over baroque, roccoco, jugendstil to modern buildings. All Football fans can look forward to a visit to the FC Bayern Stadium (Allianz Arena) one of the worlds most modern stadiums.
Munich also offers a lot of evening entertainment such as theater, opera, broad range of different concerts and nightclubs. In regular intervals the City of Munich organizes 'the long night of music' and 'the long night of museums' which offers various different programs that go on through the whole night .
In and around our village there are a great variety of activities for children. A children's playground is in walking distance of the cottage (2 min.), as well as a football field. A short distance away (by car or bicycle) there is a climbing crag and a labyrinth made of sunflowers and hemp (only in summer). The Skyline Park (half an hour drive) is the largest Amusement Park Bavaria's with roller coasters and rides comparable to those at the famous Oktoberfest. The Skyline Park has the worlds highest overhead roller coaster!
In addition to the natural swimming pool in the garden there are a number of indoor swimming pools and spas near by.
